This was terrible, simply terrible.

When taking on this request she wasn’t sure just how terrible the mayhem and destruction had been. Her expectations were more than exceeded when she finally arrived to the small town. The Drampa had done some serious damage. Thankfully no one was injured too seriously and while the destruction was severe it was nothing the town couldn’t bounce back from.

It wasn’t that out of left field for a Drampa to act in this way. They were known for lashing out whenever they were angered but were otherwise peaceful creatures. Something had to have pissed the creature off royally for it react with this much anger.

It was in town that Ash met with her partner for the mission. Their task was simple, find the Drampa and deal with it. Make sure that the attacks ceased and it wouldn’t be a problem in the future. Simple enough on paper but dealing with a mega sized Drampa that was pissed? Yeah that wasn’t going to be easy at all.

Speaking of which, where in the hell did an oversized Drampa even come from? Pokémon coming in various sizes outside of the norm wasn’t too unusual but this Pokémon sounded gigantic. The problems just continued to stack up.

Ash made sure to gather as much information as they could on the Drampa which lead to an idea of which way the Pokémon went. And with Ash’s Growlithe at their side it’d be easy to track down the beast. That is what led them to route 102, which was in a similar state to Oldale.

The Drampa was leaving a trail of destruction wherever it went, even catching wild Pokémon in the crossfire. ”Even here huh?” Ash muttered to herself, examining the area.

”Let’s look around to see if we can find any clues, something that might help us understand why the Drampa attacked.” The people of the town had no idea nor was there anything Ash found that was useful. Hopefully they’d find something.

When Stormy heard rumour about Oldale city being under attack, she thought the worst. Her spontaneous, hotheaded impulse lead her to run straight for the city without any thought or worry about repercussion. She was absolutely not prepared for what was to come, and had no idea how to fix it.. but damn it, she was going to throw her all into it.

When she arrived, the was relieved to see that no citizens had been seriously injured. Unfortunately, the town was a mess and in shambles. Smoke still rose from the roofs, pillars stood charred and smouldering. Stormy's heart sank in distress.

Now, Stormy had no information on Drampa. She had honestly never even heard of the Pokemon before. Her knowledge of the Pokemon world really only extended to the Kanto region. In fact, most of the Pokemon she carried with her she had no idea what they were.

Fortunately, Stormy was smart enough to know where the gathering of people willing to help was. This was where she met Ash Redgrave. Although Stormy may have preferred to work alone, she knew better than do be gutsy.

The young woman listened closely as Ash investigated further about the Drampa situation. From the information gathered, Stormy came to a conclusion.

When the pair finally made it to route 102 thanks to Ash's Growlithe, Stormy tapped on her partners shoulder.

"Hey, so maybe we should discuss what this Drampa is. Are they typically this angry? The picture of it makes it look like a goofy old man. It's hard to believe it caused.. all this."

As she said this, she waved her hand, gesturing to all of the fallen trees and crushed branches and smouldering remains of some of the Drampa's destruction.

"I think I heard some kids talking to their parents about how 'it isn't the Drampa's fault' and something like 'the Drampa is a nice Pokemon and they played together all the time'."

Stormy's face was serious this time, looking to Ash for answers.

"Sounds like the Drampa used to be a really gentle giant - literally."

A tap on the shoulder took Ash away from her investigation to change her focus on to her partner, who wanted to talk about the Drampa. She had a decent point about the Pokémon and its appearance.

On the surface it would be hard to believe that a Pokémon as gentle appearing as Drampa would cause this much damage but given the Pokémon’s full nature it wasn’t much of a surprise. It was because of this other side of Drampa that Ash wanted to take care of things as fast as possible before any more wanton destruction can be unleashed.

Stormy then went out to mention something interesting. The children did mention something about the Drampa and while it playing with them wasn’t unusual or enlightening them saying that it wasn’t the Drampa’s fault was. ”Drampa’s are typically friendly Pokémon. They aren’t violent, and are quite good with children. A dragon type Pokémon typically found in the Alola region. Strange to find one here.” Ash began chuckling a bit at Stormy’s gentle giant comment.

”Gentle giant is a really good description for Drampa.” She then looked to the destruction around them. ”Push a giant enough and it might end up turning into a wrathful titan.” She sighed, before turning back to Stormy.

”While they’re normally nice and gentle creatures a Drampa will go ballistic if it becomes angered, for example since they love kids so much if something were to happen to a child like someone hurts them the Drampa will be sent into a rage and destroy everything around it.” The Redgrave then began to rub her chin.

”Someone or thing managed to royally pissed off the Drampa. Maybe one of the kids was hurt or something unfortunate happen to one of them that sent it off. Either way it probably won’t stop until it either runs out of gas or destroys whatever." Ash mused

Pro still had the scent and was urging for the two females to follow him. They were getting pretty close to the Drampa. Once they found the Pokémon it wouldn’t be easy to calm the beast down and it’d most likely end up coming down to a fight. Ash would rather not fight the Pokémon but she doubted she’d have much say in the matter but she was confident that her and her partner could handle the beast.

Stormy is invested in what Ash has to say. She's knowledgeable, more so than she is, when it comes to Drampa. As a result, she is the superior on this situation. When she finally admits that something must have pissed off the Drampa, Stormy begins to frown. She tapps on her chin, thinking hard about what she had overheard the children saying. They sounded scared, really scared. Maybe even a little bit guilty.

"I wonder what happened. Did you hear anything about one of the kids getting hurt? Or has one of them gone missing?"

She begins to look around, but notices that Ash's Pokemon has begun to follow a scent trail. Stormy follows, but her best interests come back to the surface.

"I don't think a fight is necessary if we can find out the real reason Drampa is acting this way. Maybe we should investigate, find out where the children play. I think they are our best bet at getting close to the beast without hurting it. After all, the Drampa isn't trying to harm the kids, right?"

It's likely that the woman's Pokemon has found the right direction, so Stormy is eager enough to follow. But, given the woman's more reserved nature when it game to handling Pokemon, she was much more inclined to believe that mutual respect and kindness would go along much better than attacking the wild Pokemon.

She was bound and determined to find a reasoning behind all of this. She was, after all, a League ranger.

the drampa rampages around a pond. the cries are long and drawn out, DRAGON PULSES coursing through the air like smoke rings. this pond is a popular locale among children. young trainers often find a love for water pokémon here or for the birds that groom themselves within its waters. perhaps, its cries are a lament, but it's hard to tell.[break][break]

Stormy posed rather well founded questions, and questions that unfortunately Ash did not have the greatest of answers to. ”The kids weren’t that in depth on the specifics.” Ash began, watching the path that her Growlithe was leading them on.

”But one of them did mention that whatever happened the Drampa wasn’t at fault here.” Again it wasn’t much to work with but they would have to make do. ”Wouldn’t be surprised if someone did get hurt or lost and the rest are being quiet about it. Don’t want to get in trouble with their parents.” This was typical behavior from a child.

”I agree with the idea of not wanting to end this in a fight but we should at least have our Pokémon ready to protect ourselves, defensively at least. We’ll be no good to anyone trying to be heroes and end up doing nothing but getting ourselves killed.” It was unfortunate but that was the reality of the situation that they were in.

Neither she nor her Pokémon was currently equipped with a great way of dealing with a ragging beast outside of fighting it. The best they could do was stall until they thought of a different approach.

Their rather calm walk was interrupted as Prometheus suddenly became agitated, the Growlithe letting out an alarming bark before taking off. This wasn’t a good sign, Ash wasted no time picking up the pace to follow behind and she was sure Stormy would do the same.

It wasn’t rocket science to figure out why the Growlithe was in such a hurry and if it wasn’t obvious before it was obvious now seeing as a piercing roar filled the air and Dragon Pulses flew through the sky. Avoiding a fight didn’t seem like it was going to happen.

Especially considering the scene they came to when they finally reached the Drampa. She had seen its size on the way over here but being closer it was like being in a monster movie. And to make matters worse they weren’t the only ones here. People and Pokémon alike had been enjoying themselves around the pond before this Kaiju popped up.

”I’ll focus on getting everyone to safety and away from the Drampa. Think you can handle it?” Ash had already summoned a few of her other Pokémon. Baron, Atlas and Lode to help navigate people out of the area and possibly protect them from any attacks by the Drampa, but something did seem off about the whole thing.

Stormy thinks for a moment.[break][break]

"I think we should head for the kids play area. I think they mentioned they often hang around near a small pond."[break][break]

Fortunately, it seemed that Ash's Growlithe had caught the scent. They no longer needed to wander aimlessly in a direction to find the Drampa, the little puppy had found it itself. [break][break]

The bellowing of an enraged Drampa was loud and clear. She could hear trees falling, snapping and splintering under enormous legs. However, she could also hear anguish and grief. The Drampa wasn't just angry, he was in mourning.[break][break]

"Something terrible has happened."[break][break]

Her gaze immediately swept to the pond, half-expecting to see a drowned child. Fortunately, that wasn't the case, but something else equally as severe had to have happened. The Drampa turned on them immediately, his grief blinding him.[break][break]

She half heard what Ash said, and she nodded as if in response. Her partner was planning to take care of this mess of people standing dumbfounded while she tried to coax the dragon in some state of ease.[break][break]

"Uhh, yea. Sounds good."[break][break]

She takes off without warning. She has absolutely no plan, but hell if she isn't going to try. Stormy throws her hands up in the air, shouting up at the Drampa.[break][break]

"Please! Stop! We're trying to help you! Are one of the children in danger? Please cooperate, we're only here to help, I promise!"[break][break]

The Drampa is in no state to cooperate. It immediately turns on her. Stormy is only saved by Skarmory. The bird pops out of her pokeball just in time to grab her arms and drop her a little ways away. The grass is wilted and black after the Drampa unleashed dragon pulse.[break][break]

Stormy's heart is racing, and she quickly reaches for her pokeballs. She releases Chansey and Castform.[break][break]

"We need to slow it down. Use everything in your power to freeze it a little bit."[break][break]

Castform seems panicked but does as he's told. The tiny cloud conjures up a hail. Thick globs of ice pelt down on everyone and everything, shattering into tiny particles of ice. He then summons a BLIZZARD to try and freeze the Drampa. Chansey follows up with ICE BEAMS to try and freeze its wings and legs to the ground.[break][break]

”Be careful and good luck.” Was all ash could manage to say as she and her Pokémon left Stormy to go deal with the herd of people. Crowd control wasn’t exactly something that Ash was used to and quite honestly it was a pain in the ass dealing with so many people who were acting reasonably irrational given the circumstances.

Luckily she and her Pokémon managed to corral most of them out of the area. Thankfully her Pokémon was good at crowd control, and it helped that running away from one scary Pokémon to another really motivates people to get the hell out of the way.

While she was taking care of people and making sure they got to safety Ash made sure to glance over in Stormy’s direction every free moment she got. The girl was dealing with a giant Drampa all by herself, not something someone just does normally.

Ash could hear her pleading with the dragon but of course, it didn’t do much. Most of the civilians were out of the way so Ash was going to turn back and help but someone stopped her, she only half heard what was said, her focus on the attacks being flung between Stormy and Drampa.

”Huh?” She turned back to confirm something she thought she heard. ”Someone got hurt?” Well this might explain why exactly the Drampa’s going nuts. A child under the Drampa’s care getting hurt would definitely set it off. Ash gathered her Pokémon; made sure everyone was safe and ran to Stormy.

The girl was trying to hold the Drampa back with ice, smart move and unfortunately Ash couldn’t help her out given any of her Pokémon had ice type moves.

”I think I might have an idea of what’s wrong,” Ash said as she ran up to the other leaguer. ”The Drampa was playing with some kids and I think one of the got hurt.” The dragon was really easily set off by the slightest of things.

”Might have gone into a rage trying to attack whoever hurt em. I think the kid is fine but that won’t matter much once the Drampa goes into a blind rage.” It was unfortunate but true. Hopefully, the ice would be enough to slow it down but Ash had Atlas and Lode in the back to help out if it wasn’t enough.
