Mauville City Gym Challenge: @killian

The chain fence rolled open, and a soldier led the man into the base.

The sounds of activity could be heard all over, and it was not uncommon to see several soldiers and their pokemon training in various fields. Large open warehouses and workshops revealed Mechanics and others hard at work on military vehicles and pieces of equipment. Closed warehouses hid away more exclusive information.

Bug-type pokemon were a common sight, specially Orbeetles, as well as the signs of them; large webs as well as hive nests could be seen set up around the base. The ocassional Kantonian and canine pokemon roamed free, assisting soldiers as they could.

The path to be taken was predetermined. Soon enough, they could see what a battlefield in the distance- open and with the scars of conflict left all over, a far cry from the rectangular rings usually employed.

It was currently being used by several soldiers in some sort of very live, very violent exercise. A figure overlooked it, and the soldier guide led the challenger towards them, saluting.

The figure returns the salute before dismissing the soldier, turning his attention to Killian.

"Welcome to Camp Winstrate. I am Cpt. John Sullivan. And very well. Let's begin."

He turned around towards the field once again, putting an end to the exercise and dismissing everyone before making his way to the other end of the field.

Dug up Trenches. Stacks of Sandbags as cover. Dug low stone cabins. There was much to make use of in the battlefield.

A Dragonite swept down from the sky as the battlefield cleared of people, whipping up large amounts of dust as it came to land lightly behind besides the Gym Leader.

"The Challenger has the first move."

The Dragonite fluttered forward, expression unreadable as it stared at its opponents.

This place made his skin crawl, but he hid it behind a stone wall: so many soldiers and military. If Killian weren't sure the League had nothing on him, he'd cancel the challenge almost immediately.

His opponent, John, introduced himself and cleared the battlefield. Given Killian's research and all the bug-types he saw on the way here, he's expecting to face one. It's why he's chosen Haxrous over one of his many Psychic-type Pokemon. When the Dragonite descends from the sky, he's more than a little surprised.

Tongue rubbing against the back of his teeth, the admin smiled and nodded for Alduin to step forward. "How polite, I've got a feeling we'll need it." The first move was significant, and Killian opted for an aggressive one.

Two sharp whistles pierced the air in rapid succession. Haxrous narrowed his eyes, ebony scales shuddering in anticipation before it charged. Deep navy blue energy erupted around his claws. He lept, body spinning like a corkscrew that whipped the energy around him in immaculate fashion.

Headed down at an angle, Dragon Claw attempted to pierce Dragonite between the wings and pin it to the ground.

"Merely following regulations."

The Dragonite's wingspan spread wide as its opponent came at it like a living saw blade, fast and deadly.

With a single flap of its wings, its body was sent hurtling back, avoiding the strike entirely while keeping its unblinking gaze upon its opponent.

Then its wings spread again.

"I suggest you find something to hold onto, challenger."

The Gym Leader crouched to the floor and found purchase amongst the numerous cracks and fissures running along the soil as he said this.

A second wing flaps followed soon after, and with it, came massive gales.

The weather cast had not taken into account pokemon interference as high speed winds came at the Haxorus like invisible walls, slamming into it with great speeds that threatened to hurtle it across the battlefield.
