“Much better.” A pleased sigh escaped from his lips as Jack sunk into the warm waters of the hot spring, making sure to keep his glass of whiskey above the surface. He’d tried out the saunas on this relaxation retreat to Lavaridge Town and had been absolutely miserable, this was more his speed.

These pools were co-ed, allowing the genders to mingle, but Jack only selected them because he figured fewer people would be there. It’s not a vacation if he had to put on appearances, he preferred to remain anonymous among the unknowing patrons. Of course, that couldn’t save him from everyone, especially other Sinnoh natives.

Jack sputtered into his whiskey as the familiar voice of ANA STONE could be heard teasing him, nearly choking on the liquid from the surprise. “Hey, Ana.” He managed between coughs, setting his glass down on the edge of the water.

“I had no idea you were here.” Both in Hoenn and at the Lavaridge Town hot springs, what an interesting coincidence. “You know the only thing I stalk is open bars.” Jack allowed himself to sink back into a more relaxed position, a small smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. “How have you been?”

“Not a holiday, no.” Jack reached out and scooped his drink off the ledge once more, slipping further into the water until it rested below his chin. “Moved here a couple months ago. Decided to expand the business...” He shrugged slightly, and sighed. “...at least that’s the official reason. Mainly needed a change of venue, you know?”

The glass was once more brought to his lips, savoring the burn as the liquid rushed down his throat. “Might end up challenging the League if I get bored enough.”

“Minor League?” An eyebrow rose, curious since he hadn’t heard of such a thing before, though the concept wasn’t difficult to grasp. “I’ll have to come by sometime. Maybe even sign up for one myself, I’ve been itching for more battles recently.” Becoming a Gym Leader might be interesting, though he had no idea what his theme or concept would be.

“I wouldn’t say this trip to Lavaridge is a holiday.” Jack leaned back into the stone, resting his head against the edge. “More like avoiding responsibilities.” He glanced towards Ana, his lips curling into a coy smirk. “I also heard there are a lot of beautiful women here. Glad to know I wasn’t lied to.”

“You don’t look in the mirror very often, do you?” Jack laughed, his misguided attempts at flattery going as smooth as they usually did.

“Become a gym leader? Sounds interesting, but also like a lot more responsibility than I’m comfortable with.” A new challenge would be nice, he’d been prone to getting bored with his life at times. Last time he’d needed to shake things up he challenged the Sinnoh League and made it all the way to the Champion before losing. “Could be fun, though. What's your theme going to be?”
