a request to explore some sort of haunting? that was a new one. of course it goes without saying that a hero would never turn down a call for aid no matter what, although it probably went without saying that inspecting haunted places wasn't something ever considered when that saying was created.

still pokkenger had a duty and he intended to uphold it which is why he was standing in front of a mansion walked through its old and rusted doors, pushing them aside as the loud creaking they made echoed through the halls. from inside it certainly looked like a playground for ghosts to haunt. so now was the time to be fully prepared for anything that would come out and spook them, "alright boys. let's get to work"

from his belt he clicked on two balls and out came the small but reliable itty-bitty and the ever staunch uhane who's ghostly lit club doubled as a torch to help the trio see in the dark as they made their way deeper into the mansion, unknown to them that horrors unlike they've ever seen before lay within.

as the lights flicker on the brave trio stop in their tracks and their eyes dart around the room to see if anything might be trying to get the jump on them. in their haste to find a source for this mysterious occurrence they skip over the chandelure who comes in from a veil of flames and unleashes a volley of small flames at itty bitty. the joltik manages to see them coming just in time however and with a bit of finesse and agility is able to skit around the floor dodging them while pokkenger stumbles back to not let one any of them touch him.

"looks like we got company! on your toes!" an obvious statement if there was ever any and one that wasn't going to be much help. from the shadows a shedinja came out with a shadow ball right out of the gate, er shadows. his marowak was only so fast to react and was hit in the face by the orb and could feel its dark energies take a bit chunk out of its stamina as it fell to its hands and knees. shaking its head free of any confusion the ghostly dancer took hold of its bone and threw it at the ghostly bug like a bonemerang to try and knock it back into the shadows from where it came from.

from within the darkness emerged the "mastermind" of this little trap and pokkenger wasn't quite sure what to expect. really he was kind of expecting some kind of boss pokemon like a dusclops or even a gengar, not a person. still as his pokemon mirrored hers and moved to his side and took up defensive stances in case this meeting of masked individuals went south he reminded himself that it didn't matter what was the cause of the trouble around here he would still have to deal with it if it proved troublesome. so to answer her question,

"i came here on behalf of the people that have been scared senseless walking by or into this mansion. normally that isn't a problem but when the number of ghostly encounters starts to skyrocket someone has to come an investigate." he then pointed a finger at her while his pokemon mimicked the movement, "but since it seems you went to the trouble of showing yourself might i ask who you be and why your squatting in this place scaring anyone around?"

what would someone even want with a old place like this? unless..."your not looking to move in and turn this place into some kind of secret lair are you?" ok it probably wasn't that but it was worth a shot to even ask nicely.

"y'know if you wanted a secret base you could have chosen something like inside a tree or in a cave wall or something." that's what pokkenger used to do before he got himself an actual house to use. in a secluded cove. somewhere out by the sea. he was just really committed to make sure the "aesthetic" of a secret base was kept for pokkenger.

as for who this stranger was...he couldn't really say he was familiar with this "Athena" person. the name sounded familiar but he probably only heard about it through word of mouth and that was it. he wanted to pry a little bit more but she was ready to defend her new base as stated before as she sent out her pokemon out towards him. it was one heck of a first impression.

"bitty! uhane! DANGER DANCE!" their opponents decided to play the hide and wait game, so his two pokemon would play a different game. twirling their bone in their hands the marowak did a little swords dance among the smog to hype itself up for battle while the joltik joined in with its agility dance to get its nimble legs ready for some heavy legwork. even if their dance was obscured by the smog they weren't going to let that drag down their spirits and as they finished both pokemon took up defensive stances to try and be as prepared as they could be.

sure enough the joltik was quick enough to dodge the shedinja as it popped out of the ground as it skittered about the ground. as it skidded to a halt on the ground it saw the chandelure send a ball of strange energy right at the little spider as it saw the light in its many eyes. still the little spider was quick on his feet and he skittered again in a display of agility that let it dance around the strange ball of energy and climb onto the walls around the room weaving its way among the different wall decorations.

on the ground floor uhane was done with its dance of power which caused pokkenger to act. "let's go! FETCHING THE SOUL!" the hero called out as the marowak started to spin its bone around in its hand as dark will-o-wisps gathered together and lit it aflame with ghostly flames before being thrown at the chandelure, the shadowbone attack looking to aim to snuff out the ghost type pokemon.

the marowak swung its club at the mystery gift the chandelure decided to give it only to have the strange light suddenly worm its way into his bone and up into his body that sent shivers down his spine and sapped him of energy as well. the ghostly dancer fell to one knee but still glared down the ghostly chandelure and raised its club high above its head. with a swing it sent its bonemerang sailing through the air to knock its foe onto the ground and crash against it like an actual chandelier.

meanwhile itty bitty the joltik wasn't having much luck itself against its own opponent as the shedinja was quick to act as the little spider gave chase to the masked woman. hit by the rays of confusion the little spider began to skitter across the floor in whatever direction his body would allow him as confusion took hold, the world spinning as it only caught glances of its surroundings. "crap...itty bitty! just...hit them all at once!"

the command came as pokkenger raced after athena weaving his way through the middle of the battlefield as his joltik suddenly flared up with electricity to only discharge it at everything around it, friend and foe alike as it caught uhane with a mild shock that sent it tumbling to the floor and zapped pokkenger right in his heroic bottom sending up leaping up the stairs and caused him to hasten his pace after his target, not looking back in the hope that his team would be able to take care of themselves.
