once salem found out who this pokemon belonged to, he was going to kick their ass. all he had wanted was to look out a chia pet and then go home. he had already bought a bag of treats for lilac, his glameow, and he dhad decided to treat himself or something like that. at least think about it, anyways- until some pokemon had snatched the treats and ran before salem even knew what was really going on.

cursing under his breath, salem turned away from the grassy monstrosity he had been debating buying and tries to follow the bastard pokemon in question. there's no fucking way he's running, though; someone else can deal with the pokemon if that's what it has to come down to.

This didn’t usually happen to him. The department store is usually pretty peaceful, aside from the occasionally middle-aged women arguing over the last of the special clearance items or a rowdy child. This though…how had a possibly? Wild?? Weavile gotten through security and managed to swipe so many little thinks already. Someone probably assumed it belonged to someone. And shit maybe it did. Still, when the box of Gourmet Pokepal Chocolates ( with some shady looking man named Giovanni character plasters on the cover ) he’d planned on buying Chuchi for Christmas gets taken away, Andres clocks the little shit and follows. [break][break]

The Weavile crisscrossed through statements and sections of the floor darting just out of reach from Andres. He didn’t even know what he was gonna do once he caught him. Throw a pokeball??? Would that work? What if it did?! Would he get in trouble for capturing it? He’s jogging after the ice type but not paying attention. That was when as the little bastard turned a corner, he smacked into the side of someone else that seemed to have been following the same lead. Andres stumbled slightly but slammed a hand onto the wall to steady himself. “Shit! Sorry! Trying to catch that-” he turned to look after the pokemon that has swiftly disappeared in the crowd of people. “That….Weavile…” he trailed off before turning to look at the person he’d just bumped. “A-are you ok?”

of course it was a fucking weavile. the little bastard.

okay, so salem didn't usually have anything against weavile, but this one had quickly become an exception. he can hear surprised exclamations and just barely see the bastard pokemon in paticular. he's just hoping someone mananages to catch it before he does; or, if they're unable, that he can fight his way through the crowd to get another gift for lilac. it didn't sound the best, either way, because the last thing salem wanted was to deal with the crwod more than he had to.

but it was fine, because the weavile was turning a corner, and-

someone smacked directly into salem's side. he stumbled, tried to right himself, and then turned to confront the person who had ran into him- only to realize that they were asking if he was okay. shoving down his thought of violence and murder, because he was a doctor for fuck's sake, he tries to seem less hostile.

"fine." well. he tried- and he could blame that edge in his voice on annoyance at the weavile. which it had been- but now most of it was directed towards this stranger.

"it stole from me, too." he's tempted to add that he could have caught it if the stranger hadn't ran into him, but he bites his tongue. for now.

The man he’d smacked into looked irritated, that much was obvious, and Andres smiled nervously until he revealed he was also a victim. Perfect, in the clear! “That’s good- I was rushing-” That was also obvious. Despite his urgency he matched pace with Salem and offered a friendly grin. “Since we’re both tracking the little shit, we should team up.” He suggested as they rounded another corner. [break][break]

His eyes turn back to the battlefield that was the clearance section, or rather at this point, the clearance floor. Dozens of customers all distracted and inattentive. All unaware as he watched a Weavile dip in and out tugging things out of pockets and carts and baskets with no rhyme or reason at all. “Haven’t figured out why it’s doing this. It’s just been grabbing random stuff the entire time.” He explained before nodding over at Salem. “We could pincer it.” He added looking at Salem for approval.

the stranger, who still hasn't introduced themselves, admitted that they were in a rush; and salem, in typical salem manner, scoffed a little at that. "i could tell." it was mostly muttered to himself, but it certainly wasn't like salem was trying to keep the stranger from hearing it. their friendly grin is met with a pointed, almost tired glare that hopefully gave off enough leave me alone vibes for them to get the hint.

which, apparently, wasn't going to happen. of course it wasn't; he didn't know why he had even hoped it would. but even then, he does have one more trick up his sleeve..."no we shouldn't." but the clearance section was a mess, in lack of better terms, and salem deflated after a moment. it wasn't looking like he had much choice, anyways- it was either team up with the stranger or deal with this all over again.

he knew which one would be the less annoying option. maybe.

"fine." it's more than a confirmation for salem- it's an admission of defeat. or something equally as dramatic- he doesn't know. "we could. do you have an idea of which ways to go?" if the stranger was going to suggest they could work together, they were going to be the one coming up with the plan. salem wasn't sorry, either.
