The rest were empty, marked by their minimized size to reflect their lacking contents.[break][break] She had only brought Tink.[break][break] One trembling hand clutched the red orb to her chest, cradling the object like an egg; her only ounce of control. In a last moment of thought, it was tucked into the inner pocket of her jacket, where it jutted and refused to be concealed.[break][break] Without it, this pokemon was primal and unyielding; rapid and frothing and all-consuming with a heat that began to singe her hands and make the skin protest.[break][break] “You better run!” Bailey screamed to the heavens, holding herself to a pokemon that felt like it could not be restrained. “Next time we fight, I'll shove you into a pokeball! You hear me? That's a promise!” A promise that rang with such volume that it made her head ache from the blood rush.[break][break] It rang empty at the sight of the draco meteor.[break][break] Panic. “Destroy it! Solar Beam—!” but her command was uttered too late. Her vision flared white.[break][break] The ruination of the impact was blinding. Her hands were unable to retain their grip as the wake of its force washed over her; it came with such speed she thought it was the same as pulling her soul from her own body, like death had come and cleaved her within that fraction of a moment.[break][break] But that was the feeling of her fall. That was the sensation of gravity.[break][break] The gathered solar light formed in the gullet of the beast, but as the ground collapsed, Groudon released an attack that struck across an empty and rumbling sky; a beam of pure, raw energy decapitating the tip of a far-off mountain with its screech as it stretched across the skyline.[break][break] Falling. She was falling.[break][break] Bailey hit the raw surface of the chasm, so propelled by force that she felt her body hit its surface like she were a discarded doll.[break][break] Like Mt. Pyre, her hands blindly sought traction; fingers digging into raw grooves, trying to snag onto anything to slow her decent. Instead, she can only feel something hot and viscous spray out from her fingers. Earth cutting and shredding her skin that it refused to slow her.[break][break] Nothing will save me this time.[break][break] Her jacket tore, lined by a show of blood that followed its division.[break][break] I still can't win.[break][break] Her shoes tried to catch, but their weak, canvas-like material was unable to find traction.[break][break] Hasn't this been a long time coming?[break][break] A jutting section of rock stuck out like a precipice. Her body landed atop of it.[break][break] When she hit, it came with such force that it choked the air from her body as her side took the brunt of the blow; then, her slant, as she felt herself skidding off from its surface as the rest of her weight refused to be stopped. Her arms outstretched to grasp onto the ledge, feeling her nails drag as she desperately tried to hold on, tried to not look over her shoulder, tried to not see the rolling boil of certain death—[break][break] All she could feel was the numbness of her arms, then their tremble. The jutting edges of the red orb still poking out from the pocket that she had so crudely shoved it into.[break][break] “Please, please, please—!” where the words I don't want to die lingered unspoken, rioting against a mind that screamed that it was time to accept her failings and be broken beneath them. “I can do this! I can fucking do this! THE EARTHQUAKE DOES NOT SUBSIDE. their plateau begins to crumble. from the earth, ramps of rock jut out like spikes. the crystal within the stone begins to glow wildly in kaleidoscope gradients. it seems attracted to something, or repulsed, one can not be sure.[break][break][break]
AS PIGGIE SMALLS musters a mountain of courage from within its tiny body, the RED ORB begins to glow.[break][break][break]
THE CRYSTAL doesn't seem to activate upon bailey's touch. behind her, she can hear her spoink exerting its power. psychic energies wrap around the red orb instead. finally, the rainbow crystal begins to glimmer. a shimmering energy is siphoned into the orb as it glows like lava.[break][break][break]
the mountain's plateau shakes. more of the earth falls away to the magma below. as the rayquaza roars, it defers the battle to the crimson beast. however, in a petty, parting shot, the rayquaza summons a powerful DRACO METEOR. a comet of draconic energy is launched to the earth as the rayquaza flees to the heavens.[break][break][break]

the elite four member would find themselves reinvigorated to a degree they have never experienced. whether it is because of the remaining adrenaline of the previous fight or her close call with death, bailey can't be sure; nevertheless, one glance at groudon can clarify what has just transpired: groudon has chosen her as their avatar.[break][break][break]
