Was he one of these types who did not want the other’s looks colouring their first impression? She had run across such people before. Naturally in an environment like this, not in the wild. Twelve. Sheesh. That was rougher than she’d estimated. But that was fine, still. She just had to ensure that she did not play her charm program here and everything would be fine. At worst, this was a little challenge, to see whether or not she could deal with this without sounding too off to potential on-hearers. Good, good. That could be done.

At the end of the day, she would prefer an odd youngster to some pervy old man any day of the week. Though she had to laugh a little as to his question for her. “Heh. That is a good question. Truth be told, I do not have a steady job at all. I am technically still enrolled, humanities. Though I have come to live in Hoenn for a while to learn more about people. You know, before I settle down for a boring old job. Be glad you are still far, far away from this, dear.”

“Well, maybe it isn’t entirely random after all,” she replied, just floating that idea. If she was one of the organizers of an event like this, she would certainly set it up so that those on the very young end of the spectrum met one another first. But maybe she was just overthinking this matter.

After all, it didn’t really matter per se to begin with. For now she was talking to someone who probably could only relate to half of what she was saying to begin with. “Well, I would rather call those assignments. But most people do not really make a living just following those. They tend to only suit travelling trainers that can cover a wider area. But once you settle down in some place for the long haul, you probably need a proper job, too.” Not that she would know of course, one way or another. She did not exactly hold a proper job right then either, not even as a Rocket. That was more a series of odd jobs, really.

Well, he had a lot of confidence, that much was for sure. That probably was part for the course for those as young as him, though. She herself had been quite the handful at that age for certain. Honestly, she should probably judge less in that regard, but hey, it wasn’t exactly her fault this all was happening. Plus, he’d never know to begin with. “Well, if you go out and pick up their assignment, then they still order you to do it and you do it, don’t you?” In her opinion, that really was the same outside of semantics. Though she wasn’t exactly going to go into a deep discussion about all this for now, either.

Instead, she just took it in stride. “Oh, believe me, there are probably quite a few in attendance even today. As I said, I already met at least one new one and I think I saw two others I know from way back when, too.” A bold-faced lie maybe, but a fruitful one at that. She wanted to be from Sinnoh, so everything she did in order to make everyone believe that was good, in her book. “It was nice indeed, young one,” she replied with a smirk, as if she was using those words more as joke to make herself seem old than anything pertaining to him.
