nagi turns when he hears the grass behind him rustling. a spoink emerges from the bushes, bouncing warily at the perimeter of the clearing where nagi is standing.

he nudges at watson — still flopped over the ground and batting at a blade of grass — with the side of his foot. when the shinx blinks up at him inquisitively, he points with his chin at the spoink with a questioning hum.

watson rolls onto his back, and from upside-down, looks up at the spoink. they watch each other for a moment, before watson lets out a cheery chirp, and the spoink bounces its merry way back into the grass.

"no new friends, then." nagi squats on the ground beside watson, scratching lightly at the shinx's belly.

a glint of grey emerges from the bushes by him. a cinccino, fur swaying in a mysterious breeze despite the still air of the woods, peers into the edge of the clearing. nagi tenses.

beneath nagi's unmoving fingers, watson lets out a sharp whine of discontent, before shimmying onto his feet to glare at the intruder. when his gaze locks with the cinccino, he chirps — and before nagi can stop him, tackles the other pokémon into the bushes.

"watson! no!" nagi scrambles to his feet, and follows his wayward pokémon deeper into the woods. "wat—what."

is... is the cinccino tickling my shinx? the cinccino is tickling his shinx. nagi presses a palm to his face, rubbing at the bridge of his nose, and kneels beside watson, who is squealing up a storm as the cinccino gives it the tickle of a lifetime.

"just so you know, i don't approve of your methods," he mumbles under his breath to watson, before tentatively holding out a pokéball at the cinccino. "i don't... suppose you'll come along with us?"
