There were reports that he had to follow up on.[break]
It didn’t matter if it was his business.[break][break]

In the past while, there had been a number of things both seen and heard that caught his attention; things that, ultimately, hadn’t sat well with him. He’d enjoyed the festivities happening at the time rather well. He’d relished the feeling of being able to spend time with those he called friends, but as events roared on, so too did the acts of malice behind closed doors, and so too did the acts of malice within the shadows.[break][break]

In common circumstances, he would’ve allowed it to be dealt with by the proper authorities, but he had to see it for himself.[break][break]

Recent happenings in Fortree… he thought to himself, eying the lush greens of the aforementioned city with both a careful and cautious eye as he trekked throughout the brush lightly. Based on the reports, it could be possible…[break][break]

He paused upon hearing what he could only assume to be the faint snap of twigs in the distance, hushing himself further while keeping himself beneath the shade and cover of a nearby structure.[break][break]

...I just hope I’m proven wrong.

the greener fields, the brighter they burned. [break][break]

that's what she's learned. with the sweltering heat and the dry air as a result of the barrier, doesn't that make forest fires all the more common? now, wouldn't it be a shame if a fire were to start in fortree, as everyone was enjoying their days with the summer festivities? while the league was spending so much time trying to put the public to rest? [break][break]

it's not a mission, but it's a petty crime that she wants to do. it's only a little spark and a little flame. wouldn't it be fun to watch? the region has so much water, anyways. they can just use that to put out her fires. they've done it before. [break][break]

"kid," she smiles, hands raised to rest behind her head. she's acting so leisurely for someone with such dark thoughts "so, how about it? fireworks? the good ol' match in a grass patch?" she asks the infernape. she's so confident that she's alone. though she isn't dumb, and her voice is still hushed as she walks along the path with her flaming monkey. Cold and heavy, a breath found itself swelled within his lungs; a contrast to the otherwise sweltering heat scorching the region within the summertime festivities occurrences.[break][break]

Familiarity had been a concept often welcomed by him within most scenarios, though as the familiar sway of ashen locks within the evening breeze caught his view, the pressure within his being only seemed to crush him further. Hues of amber flickered within a hardened, pensive glare upon noting the figure and her Pokemon afar.[break][break]

He finally released the breath held so desperately within him.[break]
His fingers trailed along his belt, residing upon the button to release one of his companions.[break][break]

It simply remained there, however; no pressure applied to properly release the beast in question as he simply eyed on for a while longer. He thought to himself. He thought.[break][break]

He decided.[break][break]

With another, deeper breath, he lowered himself further to the ground, eying a nearby plot of shrubbery before pressing the capsule to finally release a familiar Feraligatr. With a hushed murmur, his only request had been a soft request of an Agility as he listened further.[break][break]

oh, don't take it personally, fortree. it's nothing that you did; you just happened to be in the way when she had the urge to light something aflame. brody is no monster (though monster is such a subjective tone, and she knows that there are plenty of people in rocket who would call her as such; she can only stay because she knows how to listen to her superiors). only today, she reasoned that they could start a forest fire; the air has become stagnant since the barrier, no? she can blame it on that. no one can trace it back. [break][break]

or maybe they could, but that's something for future brody to worry about. [break][break]

she doesn't know of the glare that bears such a heavy burden, nor does she care; she just wants a little bit of fire. but a large fire won't be able to satisfy her, no. it has to be a small spark, or an ember, and in these weather conditions, it should be easy to do. it'll take a while for responders to arrive, too, because of all the festivities. now was the perfect time. [break][break]

"aight, out'cha go~" the albino reaches to her belt, releasing a larvesta onto the ground. and, with such a sickly sweet smile, she points to some shrubbery. "ember, just a small one. we can watch it burn together~" maybe it's a little messed up, maybe it's a little fucked up. maybe the consequences won't be worth it. [break][break]

she could have thought of that before, but she didn't. what makes this any different?

It had been some time since he’d borne witness to the news reports.[break][break]

Though name nor appearance hadn’t been revealed information at the time, there he hadn’t forgotten the sinking feeling upon seeing a familiar head of hair upon the television screen he’d been directed towards, regardless of how blurred and fleeting the footage may have been. If not for the familiar Pokemon accompanying the mystery assailant within the news report, he may have even opted to look the other way in favor of thinking better of such a good childhood friend.[break][break]

He strove to see the good in another.[break]
It made it all the more heartbreaking to see one of the Pokemon breathe a flame alight at the behest of its trainer.[break][break]

Inhaling deeply, the Stone narrowed his eyes in thought and processing upon noting the vague spark of the Ember as it ignited. With jaws faintly clenched, he breathed a low, gradual sigh whilst tapping a finger upon another Pokeball to reveal a Tyrantrum with less discrepancy than his first companion.[break][break]

”...Aqua Tail, Achernar,” he murmured, nodding towards the three others in the distance. ”Dragon Dance, Eltanin.”[break][break]
