Back to Slateport, huh?

Erin hasn't been long in Hoenn. Only a matter of weeks, in fact. Despite that, she feels like it's been forever since she first set foot in this city of rubber and new promises. From pulling heists and vandalizing New Mauville to finding herself a new apartment and building a team of her liking, the young woman barely had any time for leisure nowadays.

Which isn't all too bad, honestly. It made her feel productive, despite the relative quiet on their boss' side.

She's on her way to receive details on a new mission, but figures there may be some hidden treasures buried beneath the broken down carcass of this city. Erin distinctly remembers the higher-ups being on permanent lookout for such resources.

Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, it seems she's not the only one to think that way.

"First dibs on anything interesting."

The Porygon2 levitating next to her offers an unintelligible robotic sound of its own. Though uncertain of their alliance, she knows of League officials trying to sneak in to steal what Rocket had stolen first. In a worst case scenario, her greeting—if one could even call it that—could appeal to both factions.

Back in business after his presumed death.

With at most half a year spent all by himself up on mt. Pyre, socializing felt rather odd to him, fact is, wearing decent clothing felt odd. He wore what he would usually wear, a formal suit. Though it did look a bit off with one of his sleeves dangling limply due to his missing appendage.

As for business, he was finally assigned with a mission for the very first time since his return. Something simple enough, perhaps to check on his loyalty.

"Dibs on anything important." He replied.

His espeon traversed through Slateport beside him, already rummaging through rubble by telekinetically lifting derbi with its psychic abilities. Mostly, they were bits of various rocks and boulders.

At least, it seemed as though their sacrifices weren't as futile as he initially thought. For Slateport was theirs, and he's content with that thought.

he feels no remorse over the city-turned-rubble; he simply sees it for what it is. an opportunity. he scours the ground for anything of use while his noivern goes one step further and can be found digging around the chunks of concrete with her snout. he's done this enough times on the job (rummaging around, that is) to know that something valuable may be lying in wait.

the pair he happens upon come unexpected. he'd thought this place was as good as a ghost town right now. he assumes rocket, perhaps quite boldly, simply because he doesn't give the league enough credit to be doing anything other than hiding with their tail between their legs. besides, if they're not people he's come across during work, then chances that they're a major threat run slim.

he catches the tail-end of their conversation and lets out a sound between a laugh and a scoff.

"you're having a laugh if you think a rocket's going to listen to dibs."

there's no spite in his voice, but it'd be easy for them to get the wrong idea. nonetheless, he carries on with his search, motioning for vega to turn over some nearby debris.

No hostility and no flinching back in surprise. Safe enough, she concludes. She may not recognize the man, just as she wouldn't have recognized most Rockets she's come across in this new region, but he doesn't seem to be a threat for the time being. Erin turns to face the newcomer.

The missing arm is noticed immediately, but her gaze doesn't linger. She'd rather have him thinking she didn't notice it.

The second intruder's response brings a smile to her face. That's more the kind of answer she was hoping for. She expected her conversation starter to eventually thin out some information. There's room for interpretation, of course, but already she has something to go off on.

She doesn't take the bait. Instead, she offers an idle comment as she scans both of their pokémon, not looking back at the trainers' faces to even watch their reactions. "Looks like we're here for the same reason, then. Though one of us may be overdressed."

An espeon and a noivern. Quite decent choices. Couldn't beat her own choice in companion, however. "Done rendering, Siri?"

An hologram of the ultrasound map that the Porygon2 has

signal beamed

over the last couple of minutes is all the confirmation she needs. Bright blue dots blink where the Porygon2 found structures of density different than concrete and light emissions of radiation. These would likely be salvageable devices.

Erin lets the others catch a glimpse of the map, mostly because she's showing off. The other reason is that she doesn't want to stay around long and the more hands on the job, the faster she'd get to report to HQ for her new mission.

"They don't have to listen. Fact is, they dont have to know. " He replied as he raised his hand to catch the silver necklace his espeon had thrown at him. He rubbed the necklace against his pants to dust a bit of dirt away and wore it without hesitation.

He had kept things from missions to himself ever since, little souvenirs as he calls them. What should Rocket expect from a group of criminals, after all? As his espeon moved over to rummage through another pile, purple-top's porygon2 had already scanned the place. Her porygon2's holographic display shown blue dots around the area, all of which could potentially be what they're after.

"Start with what's closest?" He suggested with a devilish grin as he pointed towards a noticeably larger pile of rubble only a few feet ahead of them.

"We'll need bigger equipment." He added, hoping one of them had a pokemon to ease the excavation process, if not, he'd have to get his hippowdon out.

[attr="class","thread"]it's a neat trick, he has to hand it to her. marcel watches the pokemon with a concealed fascination. quickly, he takes out his tablet and takes a picture, moving his attention elsewhere as the device begins to convert it into his own digital copy.

he's grateful that these two appear to be team players. for now, anyway. he's playing the game as much as they are, they're allies for as long as it suits them. he nods along to the white-haired man's suggestion. seemed like the simplest solution. in the meantime, he could get a better sense of this map once it loaded.

marcel doesn't answer to the next comment, letting actions speak for themselves. he keeps vega out, simply because he's used to having his main partner around, but takes out a pokeball to release his nidoking. cepheus' tail swings side-to-side at a slow rhythm, peering around as he waits for his trainers command.

"the more the merrier." it's a light suggestion that the other two release some of their own pokemon. with more at work, they could make their way through all this debris quicker and (he hoped) reap all the more rewards from it.

He does it in the most subtle of ways, but Erin notices it. It's not her first time dealing with people looking to steal her hard work. The glint in his eyes and the shifting angle of his tablet gives him away. "You could have just asked for the source program." The comment is casual, despite its implications. Like his, her gaze soon turns elsewhere; to the pile the other man pointed towards, in fact.

"Siri, send the other gentleman a copy, too." Whatever device the man had on his possession for communication, the Porygon2 would attempt to establish a connection to send him a 2D version of its map. Even if the device in question didn't have bluetooth on, the synthetic pokémon would force it to activate for its needs.

She should probably warn him about that, for his safety. A hum. Maybe later, if he didn't notice it himself first.

A brush against her shoulder conceals her pokéball until the aggron materializes in front of them with a

. Erin makes a mental note to train him on stealth next. Their endurance training was going well. One more module wouldn't hurt. She knows her meowth would have benefited from the strict regime she was submitting her latest captures to.

Erin nods at a second pile of rubble, one of the many dots blinking in Siri's map, before walking straight in the opposite direction. The aggron moves forward. "You might want to step back." She knows she doesn't want to be too close when Avalon starts digging through it.

His phone buzzed, displaying the map Erin's porygon2 had scanned. A nifty little trick. With that, he was able to see the highlighted spots much clearer. It seemed like a nifty pokemon, perhaps he should scour for one sometime soon.

"I'll take this one. " He pointed back with his thumb, referring to another spot Erin's porygon2 had highlighted.

It seemed as though they were all taking a pile of their own, it was only logical for Lucius to take one for himself for a faster job. Speaking of bigger equipment, it won't be complete without his hippowdon. The hippowdon began to dig through his chosen pile of rubble as his espeon remained to assist the hippowdon should it strike anything of value.

"Y'all got anything so far?"

his nidoking is surprisingly careful despite its size, though there is a brutal efficiency to its movements. cepheus makes short work of the pile, brushing off more and more rubble as marcel silently motions when to stop and resume. he raises a hand slightly. several pokeballs can be seen among the newly exposed wreckage. he takes them from the pile, though one misses his hand and rolls onto the ground, and each is checked.

all empty. but in working condition, it seems. he places them in a bag for later.

"nothing special," he responds. the role of supervisor has been transferred to his noivern; the pokemon watches intently as the other continues to dig. marcel's focus is back on the map, already planning out which area to sift through next.

It's all trash to her. Old phones, a tiny power bank, a digital wrist watch, and a lighter that won't start even the smallest of flames. They could all be given new uses in Rocket, for sure, but they're all such boring finds. Even if she could—she, in fact, can—repurpose bits and pieces of each device for new creations, she much prefers working with brand new parts.

Erin turns the small device in her hand. What is the deal with this thing, either way? Siri had specifically filtered their scans for radiation levels. Traditional lighters have none of that.

A thoughtless answer is sent their way. The exact words formulated on her lips are forgotten as soon as they take their exit. It's probably just another no.

She opens the lighter once more. Her index finger finds a button on its side, imperceptible save for the thin line separating it from the rest of body. She presses it and nothing happens. A closer inspection of the device's side reveals what would have immediately struck her as a screen, had it been turned on.

Unfortunately, the electric lighter's battery is out.

Still trash.

She dumps it next to the phones and the watch and the power bank that had by then multiplied to two. Her gaze is fixed on the small hoard of devices lying next to her feet when she speaks up again. "Anyone have a bag to put these all in?" They definitely don't fit inside her purse.

Lucius sighed, clearly irked by the lack of, well, anything.

"I guess we take any metal for now; beams, poles, they'd be repurposed. Aren't we supposed to rebuild this place up?"

His hippowdon kept on digging until finally Lucius audibly heard it stop. A loud crash sounded akin to that of something caving in, muffled for being underground, as a pile of rubble fell down from where his hippowdon initially dug.

"Basement?" He murmured to himself.

He took a peek down, down the hole his hippowdon made through the rubble, where he saw his hippowdon buried in rubble, the floor seemed clean, tiled neatly even aside from a few cracks. His hippowdon stood back up, shaking any ruble that settled on top of it.

"Basement." He'd confidently say. Thank god for his hippowdon's ability to dig.

he walks over to the edge of the hole and peers down. it looks surprisingly well-kept for a basement, minus the landslide of clutter they'd just unleashed upon it. "i don't know about you two, but i'm checking it out." maybe they would find something worth their time after all.

"vega." the noivern had been listening to the interaction since the crash, and wasted no time in flying over to marcel. he leaps onto her back in a smooth motion he's done so many times before it's practically second nature, and lets her carry him down into the basement below.

Erin doesn't have a noivern to glide her towards the basement, but she very much would mind getting any spots of dirt or dust on her clothes. She returns her aggron to his pokéball and calls for her Porygon2 again.

The Porygon2 would use her

telekinesis

to lower its trainer to the basement.

"Are you boys busy after this? I could use some extra hands in a certain strike mission." She also wouldn't mind them carrying their loot all the way to one of Rocket's storages.
