Xiura was thankful for the crash course in photography from @marshall as she scrambled to take a nice photograph of @bishop with the mammoth Huntail.

"Goodness!" she said with some envy as she recast her line. "Your luck is on a different level!"

At the mention of Seraphine D’aureville, Xiura said with a nod, "Oh, yes! Her gallery is gorgeous. I've catered for one of her events before."

Mere minutes passed before Bishop's fishing rod bent again at an alarming angle, so great that it seemed it would snap. He snatched it up and felt the familiar weight of an enormous beast on the other end. He took several steps backward as he pulled and reeled, once again straining every muscle in his body.[break][break]

Finally, an enormous Magikarp leaped out of the water, spraying the pier with salty foam that had frothed up in its struggle. Bishop nearly fell flat on his ass at the sight of it. It was nearly as large as the Huntail from before![break][break]

Bishop whooped and roared again. "Xiura! Get another photo! I can't fucking believe this!"[break][break]

He posed for the picture and then unhooked the flopping fish that threatened to crush the entire pier under its massive weight. Thankfully, with a little shoving, the Magikarp fell backward into the ocean with another massive splash. Water drenched Bishop that time; he was unable to avoid it. Still laughing, he turned back to his two companions.[break][break]

"I'm pretty sure I'm the best damn fisherman in this whole city," he said, grinning.[break][break]

Xiura pulled out some iced fruit tea to share, a refreshing, mildly sweet lychee infusion with pieces of the fruit and fruit-flavored jelly mingling at the bottom. Pouring some into a cup, she handed it to Naomi Sato. "Here, please have some!" She smiled at her friend, then started pouring tea for @bishop as well, but his sudden cry distracted her.

She took his phone again and snapped a quick photo of his catch, the Magikarp helplessly flopping on the deck beside Bishop's triumphant pose.

"Very nice, Ramsey!" she exclaimed, then handed him a cup of the tea. She laughed at his boasting, admitting, "You just might be the best fisherman at Splashfest. Two huge catches in a row! It's certainly not the choice of pier that's bestowing divine luck on you."

She shook her head at her own rod and record of average catches, then cast her line.

Nomi's mouth hung open in shock as Ramsey reeled in another massive water Pokémon just as she was releasing her recently caught (and quite average-sized) Goldeen. She finished her sandwich while Xiura Balfaltin snapped a few more photos of Ramsey holding his newest catch, chewing thoughtfully. "It certainly does seem like you've got a talent for fishing, Ramsey," she said politely, taking a sip of the delicious fruit tea Xiura had handed her, but a part of her wondered - with only a little bit of bitterness - if perhaps she and Xiura would be catching these massively impressive Pokémon if he hadn't showed up. Well, Nomi had tried to reel in a super impressive Octillery not too long ago and it had been quite the struggle...so maybe this was for the best.[break][break]
"Oh, Seraphine D’aureville! I know of her too. She did some of the art for my beer labels a little while ago. She's really pretty and elegant, like royalty. I can't afford her anymore, sadly, now that I'm taking more classes at Slateport University," Nomi commented at the mention of the Galerie Mirage artist.[break][break]
Nomi stood up, then, and with a significant amount of effort, launched her fishing line as far as it could go - hoping to surpass Ramsey's reach. As soon as it hit the water, something seemed to latch onto it right away!

Bishop accepted the cup of tea from Xiura and took a sip. The flavor was surprisingly light and pleasant, and he gulped the rest down quickly. Fishing had clearly worked up his thirst. He poured himself a second cup to drink in a more relaxed manner. [break][break]

"Wait, you make beer?" he asked Nomi, an eyebrow raised in curiosity. "Like legit, brewing beer?" [break][break]

Before she could answer him, something tugged at his fishing line again. He set aside his cup of iced fruit tea and hauled a rather large Wishiwashi out of the water, though it was not nearly the same size as his Huntail and Magikarp. It just seemed a little extra fat compared to a normal Wishiwashi. This one Bishop released back into the sea without a second thought — or any kind of excitement, for that matter. [break][break]

"What kinda beer?" Bishop continued with his interrogation as he recast his line. [break][break]

Xiura said to Naomi Sato, "Oh, I didn't realize you knew her too! Have you met her Smeargle? Rouge does beautiful work. I was thinking of commissioning him sometime for artwork for a couple of the booths."

She furrows her brow, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear. "I haven't asked how much it would be though. Maybe I can afford one since my cafe has been seeing a lot of customers this summer."

Xiura cocked her head curiously, interested in the response as @bishop asked more about Nomi's beer. Meanwhile, she let out her fishing line.

The smaller-than-usual Magikarp that Bishop reeled in next was nothing exciting. Maybe his luck had run out. With a shrug, he tossed the Pokémon back into the water and recast his line. As the girls chatted with each other on either side of him, he sipped at his cup of tea and considered eating another sandwich.[break][break]

Ugh, but he needed to eat a proper meal. Fruits and cream, while delicious, weren't exactly prime eating.[break][break]

He wondered, briefly, what Seraphine D’aureville would be eating for dinner, all alone in that fancy apartment of hers.[break][break]

A tug on his line shook Bishop out of his musings.[break][break]

"Oh yeah, Rouge's art is really neat," she commented when Xiura Balfaltin mentioned the Smeargle. "I bet you could afford something, Xiura, I feel like with the hot weather and all of the out-of-towners visiting during Splashfest, your cafe has been getting a ton of revenue. Oh, and if Ramsey works for Seraphine, maybe he can help get you a discount?" She grinned and, with new bait attached, threw her fishing line back into the ocean.[break][break]

Shaking his head at Nomi, Bishop proceeded to reel in a pathetically small Remoraid, which he tossed back into the water seconds after unhooking it from his line.[break][break]

"Nah, never heard of it. I'll look for your stuff when I go to the bar next," he replied. The likelihood was high he would be going to a bar that very night, but which one was still up in the air.[break][break]

It seemed like the trio's fishing luck had just about run out, as the two girls caught a very normal-sized Gyarados and Remoraid. Bishop teased his line, hoping to get something good after the recent, boring Pokémon he'd pulled out of the water.[break][break]

Nomi blushed a little and nodded. "You're right, Xiura, artists do deserve to be paid full price for what their work is worth. I just think it would be so lovely for you to be able to hang a painting from such an esteemed gallery in your café." She helped the Gyarados she'd caught back into the ocean - even a rather average one was quite large for Nomi to handle, so it took her a few minutes to wrestle it out of her fishing line.[break][break]
"If you need bar recommendations, Ramsey, Howling at the Moon is very nice," Nomi called out to the man next to her. "It's run by a man named Zev Harcourt, and I know for a fact they serve my beer there."[break][break]
The moment the new bait sunk into the water, something latched onto it. Nomi yelped in surprise and began reeling in her next catch.[break][break]

"Oh, a Lanturn! Better be a little careful with this one," Nomi commented, knowing full well that the little fish Pokémon could easily shock a human with their electricity - so she was careful not to jostle its dangling light too much. She had always liked that they were called "deep sea stars" because of how brightly they could shine even in the darkest depths of the sea.[break][break]
She readied her fishing rod again and looked over at Valerian. "Aren't you interested in a fruit sandwich?" She called over to him. He opened one blue eye and stared at her, and she pointed at the plate of (swiftly diminishing!) sandwiches. He sniffed, then closed his eye again and yarned widely. Nomi rolled he eyes. Picky little brat! She thought fondly.[break][break]
Just then, something began to tug on her line. This really was the luckiest fishing spot to have found![break][break]

She was hit by a pang of guilt for not trying out Howling At The Moon yet. She resolved to visit sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, she threw back her catch and cast her line and lure once again.
