Since a young age Krieger always knew one thing about himself and his future. Something that was always brought to the forefront of his mind when

That he was to take over the Aether Foundation one day.

A future that he did not hide from, but dreaded none the less. He knew that being the head of such an organization meant, goodbye to his freedom. He was just doing as his father wanted, not what he wanted. Of course he didn't know what he wanted, just that he didn't want to be something his father could display to other people and show off like he managed to do something while it was his own son's sweat and blood that did all the work.

Krieger didn't want to be a trophy.

Maybe call it a rebellious phase but his dislike for his situation was loudly heard during his last year of private school. Every other night would end with an argument between him and his father, lucky for him his father was not the violent type. At times he just wanted to runaway, so when the most opportune moment provided itself in the form of studying abroad he jumped at the chance for some type of escape.

Soon he was off on a boat to Orre, a desert region where one might question what one could learn here. Any place was better than his home if he was being honest, so the moment he set foot on the new region he just...got lost. Not accidentally but more like on purpose, going from town to town to just sort of experience things. It was nice. That was until he was recruited by a team that were interested in some of the research he was conducting out of self interest on Pokemon. He knew that the organization he found himself with were criminals when the he found reports of their work during his early days. However, something about the criminal activity and the knowledge he was gaining from them clicked inside of his head, like a new flame was lit inside of him.

So not long after he was recruited he became a Cipher scientist.

It was during his stint in Cipher that he became dedicated to his research, most of it out of a genuine curiosity rather than a criminal impulse to cause mayhem. It just so happened to line up with Cipher's schemes so it was basically one big win - win situation for him. However all good things must come to an end, and soon he was sensing trouble within Cipher's ranks, like someone was trying to undo their work around the region. So premptively he left the region and took most of what he could with him.

He hadn't expected a warm welcome back home. He had essentially ran away from his home after all, so why would they welcome him back? Well obviously they were going to need someone to run the foundation since the president was planning to retire. He wasn't all that surprised or heartbroken about the news, his father had never really kept a place in his heart. He was all ready to turn down the offer to be its next President when a thought occurred to him. He remembered just exactly what this company of his father's did and what sort of research he was working on, it was like the stars lined up for him.

Pretty soon he found himself working under his father once more and just like in the past did all that he could to distance himself from the man. He was not a puppet for him. Perhaps that's why Team Rocket looked so enticing; another break from the dull life of a rich boy with a weight on his shoulders. Surely they would provide some form of freedom to Krieger.
