Caleb's offer surprised Nikita. When he had shown up to lunch, she had resigned herself to the fact that he would be a third wheel of sorts, an awkward companion to tolerate for Orion's sake. Caleb's sincere wish to be on good terms with her forced her to confront the notion that he was more self-aware than she thought.[break][break]

Should she give him a second chance? She supposed it would be rude of her not to. And besides, Orion considered Caleb a friend. Surely that meant he wasn't all bad, right?[break][break]

"I would prefer if we were on good terms, Mr. Sharpe," Nikita agreed at last, gracing the man with a genuinely amiable smile. "After all, it doesn't do anyone good to harbor ill feelings for another for long. I accept the pleasure of your acquaintance."[break][break]

She shook his hand firmly, then picked up her fork again to resume her lunch.[break][break]

"Though, that does not give you permission to flirt with me again," she added quickly, as an afterthought.
