Old, abandoned, probably-haunted locations are a subject of much myth and legend, especially around this time of year. With Halloween looming around the corner, plenty of teenagers dared each other to brave a few hours in one of Route 121's infamous haunted locations.

Orion doesn't need a dare, only simple curiousity.

It had been a nice house, once. Now, the crumbling façade and lightless windows ward travelers away.

A Chandelure hovers at the Ranger's side, its light casting long shadows as he steps beyond the threshold of an open front door. It doesn't slam behind him. There's no unearthly chill. There is only silence, and that quiet spurs him deeper into the carcass of what had once been someone's home.

A group of young teenagers hovered outside the walkway leading up to the "haunted" house, whispering to themselves about who should go in first. Nils strode right by them, a cold chill in his wake as his Froslass followed along behind him. He gave the kids no more than a disinterested glance as he passed, Skaði fixing them with an icy stare. The kids yelped and shrunk back, and the man gave a short laugh under his breath.

Same as Orion, he needed no dare, only a desire to explore. Walking up the steps to the crumbling home, he peered through the door and found he wasn't alone. With a thoughtful hum, he passed through the threshold. "Didn't know anyone else would be here, my bad. Here to explore too?" Skaði regarded the Chandelure with a tilt of her head, shifting ever-so-slightly closer to her Trainer.

He hadn't been kidnapped by Rocket in the dead of night, unexpected. He'd been forced to go along willingly in broad daylight. That doesn't make him any less aware of his surroundings with the knowledge that it could happen again, at any time.

So even light footfalls upon the porch catch his attention, and Orion turns around to squint at the intruder, expecting perhaps that the teenagers outside had finally successfully conned a fellow into the dare. He's instead greeted by a man he doesn't recognize from their crowd, and not a delinquent youth besides.

The Chandelure at Orion's side hovers uncomfortably close to the ranger, but he doesn't seem to mind.

"Something like that." Urban exploration isn't so much his thing; it's the ghosts that draw him here. "Here to appease the spirits those idiots outside have riled up, more like."

A Spoink sporting a small pearl bounces around a corner, and Orion glances it at with a brief, fond smile, trying not to think of his failure to protect those whose pearls had been stolen by the likes of Martín del Mar and Sienna Bell.

"Orion," he introduces, offering a hand. "Ranger, but I'm off duty, so I'm not gonna make a fuss as long as you're not here to provoke the ghosts."

His other arm, hand stuffed in the pocket of his ranger uniform, is comprised of dark titanium. On the sleeve of his uniform, a red armband marks him for a cadet.
