a camera flickers to life, it’s focus on the ground before quickly panning up to stormy, seen getting camera ready. it slowly zooms in on the woman before zooming out in an attempt to catch her attention while she off guard.

“just making sure this thing’s working right, don’t worry about me.”

the voice behind the camera was a familiar one- kim’s in fact- as he tittered, the setting on the output adjusting to each prod of a button.

“do you have any words for your adoring fans?”

surely this would not be broadcasted but a little pre-game fun was a given while they were getting ready.

Was it hot in here? It felt hot in here, even for her.[break][break]

Maybe it was the ten tons of makeup caked on her cheeks and eyes. The heavy, fake eyelashes made her tired, and the stuffy clothes she wore were much too high-class for her liking.[break][break]

But... Kim had insisted that filming for a short film would be fun. He also promised it wouldn't actually air on actual television, where actual people would see them. Of course, she figured that that was a lie, and he just said it so she would agree.[break][break]

She had though, because she really liked Kim. And, to be honest, spending the afternoon prancing around in front of cameras and pretending to be in another universe really did sound like a lot of fun.[break][break]

When the makeup artists and crew in charge of her outfit had finished tweaking her, Stormy looked up just in time to see the camera lift to capture her, zooming in on her face.[break][break]

Immediately, she blushed a little bit, laughing nervously.[break][break]

"Maybe don't zoom in too much, Kim. This is a little embarrassing."[break][break]

She'd glance back down at the papers in her lap, her eyes scanning the words, memorizing her lines. They were pretty simple, mostly encouraging her to improvise. The premise was simple: two friends are out on the town, minding their own business, when an alien invasion takes over the downtown they're hanging out in. It's up to them to escape.[break][break]

Kim's next prompt encouraged her to look back up at the camera, and she shrugged.[break][break]

"Uhh.."

“and there you have it stormy fans. ‘Uuh..’ such inspiring words, what was your muse? did you have an instructor to taught you such thoughtful insights as ‘Uuh..’?”

but before she could give a proper answer, the a cameraman came forth to take claim of the borrowed goods, i.e. the camera in kims possession.

“can i have that clip for my twitter?”

he’d say to the cameraman as he left, a thumbs up given in response as he began setting up in front of the opening scene.

kim would turn an excited smile staining his lips with starry eyes, looking to stormy, elevated.

“isn’t this amazing! can you believe someone wants us to be in their movie? it might not be anything huge like something you’d see in a theater, but they picked us of all people to star in this. it feels… so wild.”

if it wasn’t already obvious, kim was more than excited to be on the theoretical big screen. not only would it give him the opportunity to give more people the chance to see his beautiful face, but it would also give him the chance to fulfill a long thought extinct chance of being in a movie.

now was his time to shine, and he was going to enjoy this for as long as it lasted.

“kim, stormy, get in place soon!

the director shouted their way, prompting kim to react with a flinch, turning to him and giving a. “yes sir!” in response.

once more kim would turn to stormy with a giddy look on his face, rushing off after an exchanged look.

For a moment, his teasing encourages a fire to burn in her belly. Fortunately, before she had a chance to speak out and defend herself, the cameraman came by to retrieve his camera, effectively distracting the pair and putting out what was probably going to be an incredible fire.[break][break]

Stormy would open her mouth in protest as the pair exchanged a brief promise, something about Kim's twitter. It didn't sound at all encouraging, and she shot her friend another heated look.[break][break]

Just looking at the man was enough to choke the flames of her irritation. He looked so excited, so overjoyed. His eyes literally sparkled with anticipation and energy. She couldn't bring herself to dampen his mood. Her own short temper was her own issue, coming as a result of nervousness. She wasn't the type of person to go on TV and act.[break][break]

Kim's excited chatter broke the mould of her previous look of irritation. By now, Stormy was smiling back at him, even if she was shaking her head from side to side in exasperation. [break][break]

"No, I honestly can't believe it. This was definitely not in my 10 year plan."[break][break]

Stormy's head snapped up in surprise, looking over to see who had just called their names. While the direction was simple, she could feel her arms grow cold with anxiety. Taking a deep breath as Kim shouted back a confirmation, she too would get to her feet and head to her starting place. Oh Gods.. she hoped she'd remember her lines.[break][break]

Catching Kim's glance in her direction, she'd smile back and tuck a strand of hair behind her ear.

The stage was set, the lights were bright, and the cameras were in place, everything was in its place except for the actors who needed to ready themselves.

The stage was Lilycove, areas of the city blocked off for filming, onlookers jabbering to one another as cameras adjusted to the empty background of the filming grounds.

Kim would go to take his place, waiting for Stormy to arrive before getting his jitters out with a quick shutter. His eyes moved over to those that lined the filming border to which he’d give a wave in the direction of the onlookers, their cheers appreciate for a moment before the director came to give Kim and Stormy the rundown of the scene.

“Okay, let’s go through this one last time. We’re beginning with you two interviewing people in the same location. Both of you will introduce your characters and what you’re doing. Then you both take turns calling out to random people, our extra’s, and ask them ‘How does the Summer make you feel?’ Remember to keep a good attitude about yourself, we’re going for peppy news reporters. After the second person you’re going to get stopped right in the middle of asking the question and we’re going to need you to pretend there was a huge shock and stumble around a bit before looking behind you and pretending to see a giant black, metallic structure. Throw in your lines asking what it is before running off with your camera guy, Mike. We’ll cut the scene there and then move to the news van to film the next scene. Are you both clear on that?”

Kim would give a quick nod, “Understood, I’m ready to start whenever. Stormy?”

The stars in his eyes did not seem to dim, looking to his partner with the same excited look as before, anticipation clearly seen on his features.

It was sort of surreal, seeing the streets of Lilycove city blocked off and cleared out of all people. There were barriers and cameras set up, big screens and wires and chairs stationed near vehicles off to the side. There was a sort of raw energy in the air, a crackle of tension and excitement.[break][break]

For a moment, Stormy spaced out in awe at being apart of it all before she snapped back to attention and scurried back into position. Her lines were simple, but mostly relied on her ability to improvise. She was a reporter, asking questions to random streeters. She had to be peppy, excited, invested in what the extras were saying.[break][break]

Stormy smiled at Kim a little sheepishly as he addressed her. In the moment he was the polar opposite to her: cool and collected, high on energy and excitement. She would throw up an encouraging and hopefully convincing thumbs up, grinning from ear to ear.[break][break]

Not long after that, the cameras were rolling and the director was counting down, mouthing 'ACTION!'[break][break]

After only a brief second of hesitation and camera-shyness, Stormy would take control of herself and commit to her role.[break][break]

"How does the summer make you feel?"[break][break]

She wielded a totally fake but totally not plugged in microphone, pointing it at the cast member and nodding from time to time as they chattered on and on. Their conversation would continue enthusiastically, and she would eventually move onto the next stranger before being interrupted just as she had been warned.[break][break]

Stumbling as if thrown off balance by the ground moving, she would gasp dramatically, turning around to see... probably a green screen.[break][break]

"What is that? Quick, we need the better cameras for this!"[break][break]

Stormy sped off with cameraman Mike, feeling a wash of relief as the scene cut.

Stormy was clearly in some sort of distress, the feelings he felt for the current situation not echoed through his counterpart. Of course she would have jitters, they were about to be in a movie, it wasn’t something shown in theatres mind you, but it was still something that others would be able to observe and ponder upon. It was a true honor to be asked to star in the role he was casted for.

And he would do so vigorously.

After their bright introductions and Stormy taking the lead, Kim would take hold of his own microphone, finding another citizen to pester.

“How does the-”

He interrupted himself, a stumble forced before catching his footing and looking behind them, his head tilting as he looked up the length of the green screen set behind. Stormy was quick to act on her lines, the delivery perfect as they began transitioning to the next scene.

Filming would pause as the crew began preparing for the next scene, a news van brought in with a camera set up on top.

Kim would smile, biting his lip gently before turning to Stormy, a giddy expression on his face as he did.

“You’re doing great. I know this might be a little much on you, but I’m glad you’re going through it with me. Let’s try and do our best, okay?”

Briefly he’d raise both hands for a double high five, awaiting for them to be intercepted before getting set up inside the van.

The scene was aimed to be all vocal, the news casters reporting within the van before having to take off swiftly, the structure releasing tons of creatures from it’s form.

They would have a moment to ready themselves before the film cut in, Kim’s voice coming in clear as the camera scanned the length of a green screen.

“We’re reporting live from ground zero, a large structure suddenly having set itself down in the middle of the city. We aren’t exactly sure what it is just yet, but you can be sure that it will be covered here. Stay tuned in for-”

His voice would cut, returning after a brief pause.

“Drive!”

The sound of tires screeching would be edited in as the camera sunk for a moment, slowly panning up to show what would be creatures swarming out of the structure, the camera swiftly panning backwards as the creatures moved closer.

The next scene would display the van flipping, and the news casters escaping the vehicle, dialogue between the two as well as their cameraman as they check to make sure they are all okay and plan their next actions.

After catching her breath and adjusting the back of her shoe, she would be approached by both Kim and the crew guys as they guided her off set. The next part was about to begin and the pair would need to be dolled up again with makeup and movie magic.[break][break]

She greatly accepted the double high-five, allowing an exasperated whoosh of air to leave her lungs as she shook her head from side to side. Stormy was grinning, however. The anxiety seemed to have melted away into exhilaration and adrenaline. She was all pumped up and ready to take on anything.[break][break]

"You're doing great too, Kim. You're a natural, really."[break][break]

Hunkered down now in the comfort of their prop van, Stormy would put on a serious face and listen intently to Kim as he delivered the news. Just as he finished, she would look back over her shoulder and scream in horror as hundreds of non-existent creatures would spill from the non-existent thing that fell from the sky. She could only assume that the green screen and CGI guys would figure out what to do.[break][break]

There was a jolt as the car lurched forward, and then the scene would cut once again. In a few moments, the pair would be crawling out from underneath a different but identical van that had been overturned and destroyed. Stormy now had makeup cuts and bruises and bleeding from her head. Her clothes were dusty and the lens in her camera cracked.[break][break]

"Are you alright? Is your equipment alright? We can't lose this footage!"

It was lucky for them that the camera had not been focused on the actors and instead the monsters, for it they had been, a retake would be necessary.

Eyes widened, honest to goodness shock on his face at the scream, the first time in a long time that he had been caught off guard to this degree.

A smile had etched its way onto his face, his laughter halted in order to keep the scene perfect.

Once they had begun transitioning scenes he would give a slight nudge to Stormy.

“You’re a natural scream queen.”

An offhanded remark as they made their way into their respective places.

Kim would crawl out of the wreckage, the same damage done to his person, forgoing the bleeding head for a busted lip, blood oozing from the wound.

Once they had regained their composure, even if only a bit, Kim would look to Stormy, a hint of worry on his features beforing looking to Mike, the cameraman finally seen on camera, the footage sideways as the camera laid on the ground.

“Grab a camera that doesn’t look too busted and lets get out of here.”

A noise echoed from the distance, Kim averting his gaze to look in its location before coming to a full stand.

“We need to get somewhere safe before one of those things catches us.”

With that, Mike would once again take his place behind the camera, picking it up, the footage blurry as they began sprinting off.

Stormy glanced down at her side before following the elbow that had nudged her back to it's owner. Kim appeared to be smiling, and she beamed back at him, eyes sparkling with excitement even despite the mess of makeup and fake injures her face was covered in.[break][break]

"Really? I'm honored that you think that!"[break][break]

With a wink, Stormy would fall back into seriousness and back into her role, crawling out from under the wreckage and touching briefly at her forehead, only to glance at her bloodied fingers. [break][break]

"This is going to take a ton of makeup to cover up. Oh joy.."[break][break]

Dusting off her dirtied clothes, she would come to stand next to Kim, letting out a deep breath before glancing over her shoulder at the totalled vehicle they had previously been travelling in.[break][break]

The noise that cropped up behind Kim drew Stormy's attention as well, and she furrowed her brow and feigned terror.[break][break]

"What was that thing that fell out of the sky?"[break][break]

She would nod, however, at Kim's genius idea to get somewhere safe. Once Mike was in place and ready to film them sprinting away, she would attempt to match pace with Kim.[break][break]

"Kim? Kim, oh god. Kim, they're everywhere? Where are we going to go?"[break][break]

Grabbing hold of his hand, her other hand would fly to her mouth as she gasped in horror. She was meant to be staring ahead of her, to which she would point and encourage Mike to get the footage. He would turn towards a scene in which an extra was being eaten alive by a man in a green motion-capture suit.
