The sub had it all. Break room for food, dormitories in case his rent got too high, a med bay, communal baths, it had it all. Ashley was a little startled how much they had here in Hoenn.

So, that particular day, he can be found with Bongo, as he lifts the barbell and attempts to workout. It isn't particularly heavy, but gains aren't gotten by idly sitting about, and with Bongo as his spotter, he's able to do just that.

He missed the meeting. Gavin even stated as much. But in case Rocket needs him, he would be ready.

Theo would approach, calling his name, and with Ashley nodding to Bongo, the monkey would smile, pulling the barbell back to its prior place, hopping up to lean on Ashley, the duo giving Theo a look.

Ever since the graveyard visit, Ashley doesn't look with the same resentment he did to Theo. It's still there, but its softened a great deal.

"Theo. What can I do for you?" He moves to snatch a bottle of water, opening to drink some water.

Bongo even wipes a towel over a sweaty brow.

The manila folder comes into his arms, and he opens it and reads. His face is a bit of a uncertainty, as he goes over the details of the operation.

"Mining isn't really my forte, but I can do it." He ponders if there's another thing to ask for, and while he does think to ask, he does so in the fewest words possible. Theo was short in that way, and he seemed approachable now?

Why... was Ashley caring?

"If there is one available though, I would like to request another mission. I've been in a good number of tussels after our duel, and I believe I am a wasted asset on Meteno. I've been training my Pokemon up in the case any assignment came my way for that very reason."

He says no more. He waits.

While Theo is correct, Ashley lays it out flat.

"I'm not a science guy. I'd be good mining, and protecting. But Mt. Pyre is a better fit. There's elevation advantage, chances for ambush, divide and conquer. I've trained my body, and their bodies, to prepare for skirmishes. Depending on how foggy Mt. Pyre is, a little bit of cover can be the difference between life and death. A smart person can use that to stay alive and take out the League."

He turns his head towards Bongo, the chimp nodding off like a hype man every word Ashley said, before looking to Theo eye-to-eye. Ash wasn't backing down on this.

"I would prefer Mt. Pyre. I'll do extra jobs too if need be, more training exercises. That's how serious I am."

Where was this Ashley during Kanto Rocket days?

There is something else. Ashley holds his tongue, but he looks down and admits it.

"I don't suppose proving myself suffices?" Not likely, but as he sighs, he says the honest truth. "Merlino is going to Mt. Pyre. I told him I'd follow him, so I prefer to follow suit, no matter the pain."

It isn't that he wants to deny Theo. In fact, he wasn't really feeling bitter towards him. But his father-figure-esque mentor was still a right bastard.

"I want to fight without worry. Mt. Pyre is the best place without wasteful bloodshed." He resolves, and gives Theo a smile.

It almost feels like betraying Theo, after all it was Theo who brought him into Rocket to start, and recently. His eyes are almost with a bit of pain.

A breath.

Theo trusted him. That part didn't fall on deaf ears, and as he looks Theo in the eyes, he keeps the conversation short.

"Yes sir." The old salute. The old response. It seemed Ashley had finally given Theo a proper response, and seen Theo as such.
