a chansey shows itself before kyle. the pokemon was large enough to be an effective blockade to their path. thankfully, it was way off their destination and wouldn't be able to disturb them even if it wanted to.

he'd rather get to the deeper sections of the safari zone than spend time within the area by the entrance. time was limited within the facility, and he'd rather make efficient use of the money he spent to get in.

stoutland he rides does not even spare it a glance as it weaves through the tall grass. kyle steers it away from the potential distraction.

a torchic stumbles upon their path. it trips from surprise as soon as it notices the trainer and his pokemon too late. it shakes from the fear of the much larger pokemon.

the stoutland stops on its tracks with the fire-type falling by his legs. it takes a whiff out of it, before blowing from its nose. the acts gets the torchic to finally stand and move out of the way.

kyle prompts the stoutland to move afterwards. time was limited and interaction with pokemon that he wasn't here to catch wasn't advisable.

kyle spots the target faster than his pokemon. he gets his stoutland to halt its movements as he tries to reaffirm that what he was seeing was the legitimate thing.

it took him a moment to believe it, but it was indeed a smeargle. the coloring was a bit off, though he has a small number of pokemon that possess the same qualities as it. it shouldn't make it much less different than any normal smeargle, he assumed.

"hawkeye!"

kyle dismounts from his pokemon before it immediately charges right after the smeargle. the pokemon, noticing the charge too late, tries to use its sketch at it. with no specific move ordered by the trainer, however, the move fails.

"halt."

the large canine stops just before it rams its body recklessly at the smeargle. the wild pokemon trembles as it faces the stoutland, just inches before an instance of pain could have been felt.

kyle throws a pokeball at the shiny smeargle, taking advantage of its nervous state.

the shiny smeargle finds itself inside the safari ball. it doesn't fight back against the force that held it inside. that was lucky, he supposed.

just as when he thought he could simply forfeit the remaining pokeballs since he already got what he wanted, another smeargle shows itself to kyle. he stares at the ball he has on hand, and then to the wild pokemon. he decides that another one wouldn't be too bad.

he might as well make his money's worth of captures.

a smirk appears on his expression as he locks eyes with it. the smeargle clutches its tail defensively as kyle had his stoutland charge at it again. its large size and fast acceleration made the smeargle freeze on its place from the fear. the momentum his pokemon has was bound to deliver a force.

the smeargle forgets to protect itself with its moves as the stoutland finally hits it. the collision brings the smeargle in the air, with kyle throwing the safari ball while it was airborne.

the safari ball brings the smeargle into its confinement, shaking a few times as kyle awaits for the confirmation of the mods to give aero his second smeargle.

he takes the ball containing his second smeargle. they were unique compared to most pokemon, but even then, he wasn't sure if he could use both. He eyes the remaining pokeball given to him at the start of the trip.

'might as well use up all these safari balls...'

he wanders for a bit with his stoutland on tow. the next pokemon he spots is a little togepi. there was a moment to ponder whether he wants it or not, though he eventually decides that he does not care.

"just rough him up for capture," he orders his pokemon.

the stoutland takes no moment to lunge forward, bowling over the small egg with a full-blown take down. he brings him up to the air, following up with a bark to signal its trainer.

kyle simply scratches the back of his head as he throws a safari ball at the togepi.

with the capture of the togepi, it left kyle with only a single pokeball. he supposed it was only fitting to use it on the next pokemon he encounters to end the trip quickly.

"do you see that?" he asks his stoutland.

both their eyes move towards the nearby chansey. it was big and pink, making it an easy target within the safari zone's wilderness. the canine immediately replies with a bark as he sees it.

"take down."

he gives his pokemon a pat on the back before it charged straight towards the chansey.

the chansey does not see the threat immediately, but it manages to react by strengthening the gravity around her. kyle sees his stoutland visibly slowed down by the force, earning the trainer a smile as he sees the wild pokemon's capabilities.

he thought he simply was going to force her into a cleric role of the party, but he supposed he could make use of her moves in other ways.

the gravity does not stop the stoutland. a full-body tackle still knocks the wind out of the pink blob. it does not knock it out immediately, but the pokeball that comes after the attack does not give it a moment to catch its breath.
