looking over to the sobbing meowth with its tiny outstretched paws, persephone freezes for a moment. it doesn't look emaciated, but she appreciates the pokemon's flair for the dramatic.

the meowth may be crying, but at least he has the decency to be polite and more or less ask permission rather than simply going directly for the berries.

having said that, she's reluctant to simply hand over the rowap berry. indeed, the sentinel serperior raised its head to stare the meowth down for a long moment before curling back down on the soil to bask in the sun.

"i promise you i have more acceptable food inside," persephone coaxes, offering the pokemon an empty capsule and a soft smile.

DISPERSING GLOWING POWDERS, the ledian cruises the garden in the night time. although a ledian's effervescent lights are signs of prosperity and good luck, this bug's interest hones in on the passho berry tree. seeing that the berries are yet to ripen, the ledian, with its twitchy fists, launches a flurry of blows upon the stalk as if it were a punching bag.[break][break]

the serperior raises his head laconically and stares at the wild pokemon with something akin to contempt. he doesn't, however, actually make any attempt to thwart the attempted desecration of the garden. the snake lowers his head and continues to snooze.

by some stroke of luck, persephone is also roused by the sound of the assault. standing at the hut's door, she peers through the darkness for a long time, attempting to discern the source of the noise. at seeing the ledian, she cries out in alarm and - driven by bizarre impulse - initially forgoes releasing a pokemon entirely.

persephone picks up a nearby pebble and throws it at the pokemon. the stone makes a wonderful arc in the air because she's at least practiced in the art of tossing pokeballs. releasing her chandelure - that, at her direction catches, the ledian in a telekinesis - is almost an afterthought.

persephone feels the lazy gaze of the serperior on her and almost feels judged. she spreads her hands weakly to the wild pokemon as though attempting to reason with it.

"don't... do that?" she suggests. maybe she would have caught it, but the chandelure engulfs the wild pokemon in a heat wave that illuminates the area much like an errant fireball. the ledian automatically fails its dex save on account of the poke-hold person and takes 8d6 damage.

hopefully that's the last of that.

in truth, persephone's attempts at caring for the berries have been lackluster at best, and she increasingly has to rely on her grass type pokemon to do it for her. as the pokemon toil away, persephone idly rolls fresh snow into little balls and stacks them on top of each other in something resembling a miniature snowman.

she'll tell herself she's "overseeing" their efforts.

the wind picks up suddenly, and her pokemon's heads snap up to search for the source, and there it is, a proud-looking hariyama swirling his limbs so quickly a wind billows around them. persephone's pokemon cry out in unison and surge forward - serperior wraps around the wild pokemon to smother its movements, while decidueye and leafeon leap to attack with leaf blades.

persephone winces and throws an empty capsule to secure a capture.
