it is said that when a volcarona takes flight, it spreads its flaming scales across the land. hoenn's ancient peoples have described it as "the rage of the sun," for its fiery dances catch the sunlight in ways both mystifying and terrible. for this reason, volcarona have been worshiped and heralded as descendants of the sun itself.[break][break]

the deities soar from mt. chimney, flooding the skies with ribbons of flame and glimmering scales. will you be lucky enough to capture one of them?[break][break][break]

in order to qualify for the capture, you must use the word solar somewhere and BOLD it.
write an in-character post of your character attempting to catch the volcarona with a roll.

the volcarona have movesets that will be revealed at the end of the event.

With hands in his pockets, Thomas took his time in exploring Mt. Chimney. The source of all the filth in the air in most of Hoenn, save for towns like Verdanturf. Soot that blew out from the volcano blocked out the solar rays that otherwise shined down upon Hoenn. While the sights of the soot covered areas were beautiful in of themselves, the soot blowing in the atmosphere made most of the Region less than ideal for those who were sickly.

Thomas would spot a group of Volcarona floating in the skies, bathing the otherwise blackened sky in beautiful sunlight. Though he questioned it, because of the radiant light partially blinding him, he could swear he saw a Shiny Volcarona among the swarm. Taking a vacant Pokeball, Thomas tossed it at the group, crossing his fingers.

he watches with keen eyes the larvesta crawling along the soot-covered ground, relishing the warmth that comes from the earth. he remembers how frightened larvesta was when he first found him; back in Malcolm Stone's abandoned office in slateport. the fire-bug has made strides since then, growing more comfortable with being out of her pokeball even in unknown places.

but mount chimney is no unknown place. she appears almost as though she is at home.

he allows the larvesta her space but keeps her in his peripherals, worried that she might wander off too far. it is in that moment that he sees another; it radiates a SOLAR energy that almost makes him look away. but he narrows his eyes and admires its beauty before throwing a pokeball at it, attempting to capture the moment.

Solar energy radiates from the pokemon. Stories spoke of their supposed heat, and how it would ravage battlefields. As all stories going they were wildly exaggerated. Alison found the pokemon was no where near the deity level of strength stories had made it out to be at.

Despite its lack of strength Alison still found the pokemon desirable. She threw a ball towards the steady stream coming from Mt. Pyre.

he sees a volcarona. the first thing that comes to mind is to shoot it with something.

"solar beam."

his ninetales, after intensifying the rays of the sun, fires of a solar beam at the direction of the bug. kyle doesn't care for the consequences of his impulsive decisions.

one of them is shiny though, so he tries to use a pokeball to catch it.

The only reason she treaded out before dark, out below the solar rays that were so dangerous for her was because something was swarming again and she had missed a handful already. She couldn't help herself this time around. Especially after hearing what it was and coming across the cluster of bugs made her forget her usual disdain for the pokemon type. The Volcarona was one of the few she liked.

Isra watched them for awhile before one stood out amongst the crowd. She doubted she was the only one to spot it but she couldn't help watching a little while longer none the less. The colorings unusual but appealing in a way.

She throws the pokeball, and hopes for the best.

It was hot. [break][break]

She was only grateful that she wore sunscreen earlier today, more so to protect herself from the heat and solar rays that pounded down. She didn't exactly know what she was going to be getting herself into, with the sole intention to catch pokemon along the crags. [break][break]

It isn't too long where she finds a pokemon - numerous - fluttering about. A swarm of volcarona, from what she could see. While the majority of them all looked the same, there was one of a slightly lighter colour. Interest piqued - a curious occurrence. [break][break]

She pulls out a pokeball and tosses it. Fingers crossed.

legend has it—

lore says that—

by the end of the day the only thing that matters are the results. these are the facts that derive themselves from the actions that transpire. nothing else matters. the conjectures of those who don't know better are false until proven otherwise. that's why the sun does not burn out when the volcarona vanishes inside the recesses of fernando's pokeball. that's why elysia praises him for looking into the future. relics have no purpose without power. they are nothing more then decorations in an outdated museum—a misinterpretation of our solar system.

the only thing that matters is that they fall the same as any other pokemon. that's the only comfort he finds, satisfied when the empty balls come back a little heavier. each one he catches is another one for the league—an iconic look for the league's premiere collector.

the sky seems to have been set aflame as the swarm rises, wheeling from mount chimney. they're resplendent as the SOLAR light strobes against their wings.

silent and enigmatic, the volcarona sweep overhead, almost close enough to reach out and touch. persephone can see the individual hairs on the pokemon's abdomen. she instinctively reaches up and flicks a wrist with an empty pokeball toward the golden one.

It isn't often Lenora takes an interest in capturing pokemon. She's always been content with Magnus and Viola and they'd always been all she ever needed. Volcarona is a rarity though, and she pictures it on the stage, fluttering through the air as if it were dancing along its own solar system.

When the Volcarona arrive, Lenora, for a brief moment, forgets why she is here. By the time she has remembered, others have already began tossing out pokeballs. She plucks one from her purse, presses her lips to the top in a bid for good luck, then throws it at a passing Volcarona.

Her breath catches in her throat.

she shrugged after a moment of standing there. the girl wasn't at all eager to stay any longer than necessary, the overabundance of solar energy causing the air to grow uncomfortably hot.

she left too - 'cause there wasn't much of a point in lingering if there weren't any bugs around.

Berkeley has heard the rumors and read the legends a Time or two in his days, but nothing compared to seeing the beautiful SOLAR display first hand. It was beyond words. Pokèmon really held such wonder. Could people truly hope to control such beauty to it’s full potential?

Depressing thoughts aside, Berkeley decided he needed a closer look.

Mt. Chimney was challenging enough without further complicating it by needing the perfect spot for this glorious display of summer beauty. Once Berke found the perfect spot, he took a seat and gave a bright smile. They were just starting to take off, and what a marvelous display it was. Well worth the climb and trouble. He even managed to snap a picture and send it to his ranger friends— @inari, Laurence Anderson, and Stormy Silph just to name a few. The caption on the image read, ’The messengers of the sun. What a glorious display.’

After rereading his caption, he chuckled at himself before admiring the Volcarona again. ”Sometimes I surprise myself. What a clever caption.”

Yes, he had just pat himself on the back. The things one does while alone...

Volcarona were pretty creatures, worth a fortune in the right Pokemon Contest and one of the most popular creatures in the Pokemon world. They were a rarity and few ever had the opportunity to capture them, especially not in Galar. So it came as a surprise as the large, rainbow streamed bug with flaming bright wings showed itself in a large swarm in Hoenn.

Perhaps it was a change in weather, or a new migration pattern, or just a mere miracle, but Aramis was not like to let an opportunity by to catch the solar colored moth. "In you go dear."

It would make a nice gift for his niece back at home.

As one would say, praise the sun and it's Solar offsprings, right? What, you don't say that, even if you're a fervent believer of the sun religion? Where could this line come from then... Oh well, no matter. A swarm of Volcaronas need to get put down anyway, and Balder will take part in this before havoc and chaos begin spreading out. Summoning Geo out, Balder ordered the alolan pokemon to spread out some stones in the sky with his Stealth Rock move before using Stone Edge to try and make the Volcaronas fall and be available to be caught or defeated. As one fell beside them, Balder threw a pokeball at it without looking to catch it. Wonder what it's gonna look like?
