It was a bittersweet way to end Funtasia's run. Yesterday, Josh had completed his last shift running his attraction that served more of an advertisement for Mauville Racing Grounds. He loved showing all the young ones the joy of being atop a Pokémon, and had even earned himself a few paying customers for his academy.

Today was the final day of the carnival, and he was going to enjoy it for every bit it was worth. Seated on the back of the Raikou at the legendary Pokémon carousel, with Raikiri on the inside row Entei near him, there was a big smile on the Gym Leader's face. Though it was far from the real thing, he daydreamed about bonding with the real Raikou. The nearly life-size statue of the Johto Beast was surprisingly accurate, and he loved every moment of the time when they were spinning around at full speed.

Once they had come to a stop, Josh returned to the back of the line, ready to hop on the back of a different legendary Pokémon. There were so many fast ones on the carousel, too. All the Sacred Swords were there, Latios was there, Solgaleo was there (though he didn't recognize it, he thought it looked amazing), and more. Even the Ruinous Four were there, Josh having snapped photos of all four on a previous day. The Chien-Pao was the only one that interested him out of those four, though he did find the giant Chi-Yu intriguing.

Taking their place at the back of the line, Josh and Raikiri eyed their next targets, the Zeraora interested in "soaring the skies" on the Yveltal.

Camellia was back at the carnival grounds. It was a bit of a shock to her how many times she'd come to the fair grounds. However, this time was a bit different. While modeling as a civilian, she was also on the lookout for an individual who was supposed to be present in Rustboro today.[break][break]

A man from the Kalosian region who had a rather large target on his head: Antoine Dumont.[break][break]

It was a bold move for him to step foot in public, but it was also smart of him to come to such a crowded place. He had a few other individuals with him as well, as well as a child. She could only assume that she was his daughter.[break][break]

A shame, really. But it wasn't the first time Camellia was apart of a plot to tear a family to shreds.[break][break]

She wasn't there to strike just yet. She was merely observing, collecting intel on him and how he acted. It would serve her well to gather insight for her attack later.[break][break]

That was how she found herself in line for the merry-go-round, with her arms crossed over her chest. Though her attention was pulled away as a familiar head appeared in her view.[break][break]

"Devlin. Fancy meeting you here," Camellia said, offering a polite wave.

A familiar face had called out to Josh as his group, which included Camellia, was on deck. He had already been on the Raikou earlier in the day. While it was a mount he would never get sick of, especially if he were to land a bond with the real one, he also loved to branch out. As the carousel slowed down, he studied the positions of two of the legendary Pokémon he wanted to hop onto: the Latios, and the metallic-looking big cat.

Josh returned the wave, greeting Camellia, "Nice to see you again! I'm trying to enjoy the last day of the carnival after putting on my own attraction three times a week. Was as simple as could be; I just brought a handful of Pokémon from my Gym for guests to ride on." It was a big money maker for Johanna Joy , attracting guests both by spending time with a local celebrity, as well as being able to hop on a real Pokémon, not a mechanical Tauros or the ones at the carousel. "I've got my eyes on that one and that one," Josh pointed to the Solgaleo and Latios as they passed by him for the last time before the current set of riders disembarked. "Got a favorite legendary Pokémon? Mine's Raikou but I've been on him so many times." He had even been on a "real" Raikou before, thanks to kyle lopez , but he didn't want to sound like a complete maniac in public.

Dumont was already climbing aboard the SUICUNE with the child, speaking low Kalosian to her. Camellia ensured that she was able to keep an eye on them as she climbed onto one of the frozen, metallic beasts at random: [break][break]

CRESSELIA. It was... overtly pink and bright. She hummed to herself, hoping her partner would keep her disguised despite her choice in Pokemon.[break][break]

"I can't say that I have a favorite myself. I suppose I'm just... here for the ride." Literally.[break][break]

"You did performances? What kind?"[break][break]

And as quickly as the ride began, it finished. Camellia stepped off the CRESSELIA, following the disembarking group off the ride. Dumont was heading to the side for a smoke break, while the child was off running in a kid-themed section of the park.[break][break]

"Want to get something to eat? My treat."

With another carnival-goer beating Josh to the Solgaleo he had his eyes on, he backtracked and scrambled to get on the Latios' back. Having studied mythology quite a bit, he had always been attracted to the legendary Pokémon with super speed. The dragon's jet-like wings had corners cut out of their insides to make the model more comfortable to sit on. Riding the real Latios would require him to be much more hunched over, particularly at the supersonic speeds the empath was capable of reaching. The g-forces the creature could subject Josh to would have easily outclassed those of Raikou, and his EXTREME SPEED ride on the thundercat pushed his body to his limits and beyond. He doubted he could handle it. It was fun to fantasize, though!

Not terribly long after the ride reached full speed, it slowed to a stop to let them disembark. "I'm gonna come back later today to get on that big cat," he referenced the Solgaleo again. "Might have to do some research into exactly what that Pokémon is. It looks really fast." If it wasn't obvious to Camellia that the Mauville Leader had a bent for speed, it may have been now.

"Less a performance and more a different kind of carnival ride," Josh explained. "I bring a handful of my Gym's Pokémon here for people to hop on. They especially love my Pyroar. All five of them. If you think riding on a predatory Pokémon would be fun, you should drop by." For now, though, the food court awaited. "Sounds good!" Raikiri rejoined them and dropped to all fours, Josh climbing atop the thundercat but keeping pace with Camellia.

Camellia couldn't help but laugh softly at the gym leader's childlike manner. He seemed so obsessed with the ride, despite it being just that — a ride. Perhaps it was the thought of being on the beasts of legend themselves that made him want to come back again and again.[break][break]

She wondered what it was like to have such childlike wonder.[break][break]

"I'm sure it'll be here when we return, Devlin. Come on," she encouraged him with a wave of her hand.[break][break]

They stood in line, and Camellia picked a PIKACHU themed sandwich, with a small flag in the bread and little decorations on the side. She sat down, listening to him talk about his performance.[break][break]

"I see. I can tell you like to bring joy to the public. Do your Pokemon enjoy it too?"
