The next stop on his gym to-do-list would be CIAN MAHER's. Their only meeting being the one back in the Vital City Tournament, Noel thought the man to be somewhat strange and not really what he imagined a gym leader to be like. Nonetheless, he enjoyed fighting against the man and his Froakie back then, and now he would prepare himself for a serious fight this time. He walks through the gym's entrance and heads to the arena after confirming his scheduled match.[break][break]

He is immediately besieged by bright lights. A roar of applause greets him as he steps up to his side of the field. This wasn't what he quite had in mind, he wasn't really aware that he'd be putting on a show for all these people today, but it wouldn't be the first time he'd have done it. Now he eagerly awaits his opponent, wondering just where he might be at this crucial time.

with the stage set, brightly lit not only by the spotlights but also by cian's warm smile, the crowd cheers, roaring with excitement.[break][break]

tapping on the microphone attached to his ear, he clears his throat and waves at the challenger.[break][break]

"welcome to the weather gym, parker boy! it's so good to see you and shaymin again. i'm sure you've been looking forward to this rematch as much as i have, so let's jump right into it!"[break][break]

It was that same awkwardness and nonchalant behavior he had seen back in the tournament. Something about it was endearing however. Noel could only smile to himself with a small, quiet chuckle that barely escaped his lips. He brought out his Glaceon out in front of him, the first to challenge the gym leader.[break][break]

"Heh, you're right about that." He shouts so that the audience and Cian can hear him, for he has no mic. "I always knew you were holding back during that fight and even then I lost. This time's going to be different though, let me demonstrate that for you!"[break][break]

Taking their distance as an advantage, the ice-fox starts the round off with a simple yet deadly Ice Shard. The singular frozen icicle spear being shot out straight ahead towards the Kubfu. Noel and his Glaceon would use this as a means to gauge just how capable this Pokemon they were faced off with was.

cian had expected to first battle against shaymin but he supposes they could instead save the main event for later. the shaymin versus froakie rematch would be a fan favorite. he'll simply have to make it through the glaceon, then.[break][break]

"bring it!"[break][break]

he snaps his fingers and points to a CASTFORM up above the battelfield. it does a little dance, joyful and happy as it conjures up a SANDSTORM.[break][break]

"let's see how you overcome dirty weather terrains..."[break][break]

with the battlefield now hindered for both of them, cian squints, familiar enough to feel a sense of ease.[break][break]

for the watchful eyes of the crowd, fret not, as there are ROTOMTV ROTOMS buzzing around the arena, zapping in and out of the SANDSTORM to pick up the action. the two trainers have a rotom on them each; cian winks at it.[break][break]

as ICE SHARD spikes into kubfu's shoulder, it maintains its INNER FOCUS through the pain, only now charging to slam its IRON HEAD into glaceon. or at least attempting to.[break][break]

A sandstorm was not what he was expecting at all. Why would Cian change the battlefield to one where they both were in a disadvantage in? His methods didn't make any sense to Noel, maybe this was all part of the gym challenge itself. Either way, he had some experience in similar situations, although his vision was mostly blocked by the raging sand, he could still somewhat make out the figures of both their Pokemon.[break][break]

His Glaceon was being barraged by an endless stream of rough sand with a wind so heavy it could blow away the Glaceon easily if it wasn't standing its ground. However its footing is tested when the Kubfu, seemingly unaffected by the Sandstorm rushes in for the attack. Its hard head landing a solid blow against its opponent's. The ice-fox is sent reeling back and Noel looks on in worry with his eyebrows furrowing. A slightly audible "Grr..." was picked up by the Rotom Phone hovering beside him.[break][break]

"You've got the first hit in. But that doesn't mean anything! You're not the only one who can change the weather!"[break][break]

With a battle shout, Noel's Glaceon summons up an Icy Wind that freezes the surrounding area, bits and pieces of frozen sand drop to the ground like snowflakes. An even harsher and colder wind was blown in the direction of the fighting-type Pokemon, a chill could maybe be felt up its spine as the ground beneath it became slick with ice, threatening to encase its feet with a cold prison should it react too late.[break][break]

"Let's see you get out of this one!"

noel's intuitive thinking is not met with a grimace but with a grin. the SANDSTORM was only meant to test how they'd react to such harsh conditions, to see them handle it almost perfectly makes him happy.[break][break]

it also fires him up.[break][break]

"rock lee! brace!"[break][break]

after connecting, kubfu enters one of its many stances, holding it as it stands through the violent ICY WIND that comes its way. pelted and cut by shards of ice, kubfu winces, but holds.[break][break]

"now!"[break][break]

it rushes forward, bruised up as it finishes its FOCUS PUNCH.[break][break]

The fighting bear glides across the battlefield like a rocket, its punch connecting squarely against the Glaceon's face that sends it launching through the air. The ice-fox skids across the arena with a harsh landing, its body tumbling until finally, all movement has ceased. One solid blow like that was enough to knock Noel's Pokemon out with ease.[break][break]

Stunned at the outcome, he grits his teeth but then quickly regains his composure. Recalling back his Pokemon back into its ball, he tags it out for his next fighter. Throwing his Pokeball out onto the field, a Shaymin stands ready in front of him, a fierce look in its eyes as it watches the Kubfu carefully, analyzing it to determine what the next plan of attack would be.[break][break]

"That's not what I was expecting to happen at all, but I'd rather it be this way. Don't expect the same thing to happen twice, because now you've got us both riled up and raring to go."[break][break]

The grass-type looks back to its trainer who in turn, meets its gaze as well. The two of them give an affirming nod to each other and steel themselves for what's to come.[break][break]

With the weather like this, it was easy to mask their next move. Seemingly standing still, the small hedgehog planted its feet onto the ground and sent an Earth Power coursing through the gym floor. If Cian's Pokemon was able to identify the oncoming danger, it would notice a rumbling coming from down blow it before pointed spikes shot out from underneath where it stood, aiming to sneak in some damage.

the type mismatch has skewed the scales right from the start, so not much can be done to stop glaceon from being knocked out by the type its most weak to. cian winces at the impact, sucking air through his teeth as he calls kubfu back to his side.[break][break]

"well done, buddy boy, but here comes the real danger."[break][break]

their SHAYMIN.[break][break]

before cian has a chance to call out in response, EARTH POWER erupts beneath kubfu, sharp, jagged spikes drawing blood and limiting its movement. kubfu may try to COUNTER but it has no long-range attacks.[break][break]

"oh no..."[break][break]

the only way forward comes at a great price to pay. kubfu's IRON HEAD glows, helping it lunge out and straight into shaymin.[break][break]

Noel's confidence grows once he sees they were able to make a mark against the Kubfu. A smirk draws across his mouth while his eyes looking forward, determined to land the finishing strike. The crowd stay glued to their seats, waiting in anticipation at what the challenger would do next to turn the tides.[break][break]

"If you and your Pokemon want to get up close and personal, then so will we!"[break][break]

His Shaymin sprints forwards on all fours, the little hedgehog moving as fast as its tiny legs and arms could handle. A mystical energy swirls at the front of its head, harnessing the might of psychic power all in one spot. Once enough distance was closed, it would then leap ahead to match the fighting-type in what some would say was something akin to a car collision.[break][break]

The Zen Headbutt crashes against their opponent's Iron Head, sending Noel's Pokemon flying back from the recoil. It twirls around in the air before somehow managing to land back on its feet, the impact causing it to see stars as it wobbles about in a daze.[break][break]

The blue-haired trainer watches in worry, hoping that their partner wasn't hurt too much and that their plan had some sort of effect on Cian's Pokemon, or else this was going to be a much more difficult fight.

tension thrums in the air, sounding as loud as their voices that somehow carry over the SANDSTORM. perhaps it is the weather itself that proves to be the difference. or, perhaps it is the challenger, Noel Parker, and their impressive shaymin. either way, there's not much else to do than watch ZEN HEADBUTT collide against IRON HEAD, the impact causing shockwaves to reverberate across the battlefield.[break][break]

when the dust clears, kubfu is slumped on the ground, knocked out cold.[break][break]

"damn. that was tough to watch."[break][break]

he palms a pokeball, replacing kubfu with his pride and joy.[break][break]

"alright ribbit-san it's time for the long-awaited rematch. you said it yourself last time, right? that it was too easy?"[break][break]

though he talks to his froakie, his words are really meant to goad the challenger, playful with the way he smirks.[break][break]

"hopefully! they'll prove to be a tougher challenge this time!"[break][break]

froakie splits in DOUBLE TEAM, starting the rematch right as the SANDSTORM subsides.[break][break]

Finally, with the sand stream now completely gone, both sides would now be able to use their eyes to their best ability with nothing in the way. However, now a new problem has shown up. The Froakie's move splits himself into multiple clones, each one taking up a position to encircle the Shaymin, leaving all windows of escape closed. The hedgehog looks around with worry brewing in its mind, unsure of just how it was going to be able to get out of this one.[break][break]

Noel takes the bait. Slightly angered at the taunt, he barks back with one of his own.[break][break]

"You might have gotten us last time... But we've improved ever since then. Things are different this time and we'll mop the floor with you!"[break][break]

They would start their bout with one of their strongest attacks right from the get-go. A green energy began to pulsate around the Shaymin's body, the grass-type storing some power before letting loose its Seed Flare around in every direction. Shockwaves shoot out from its body that aimed to blast away each and every Froakie if possible. At least one of them had to be the real one.

Still recovering from their attack, the Shaymin is left vulnerable amd has no choice but to take on the onslaught coming from multiple blasts of water. The beaten hedgehog is thrown off balance and sent flying away. A harsh follows suit, and to make matters even worse, that wasn't the end of it. One Froakie concludes their attack with a swipe of the tongue against the poor Pokemon's broken body. The grass-type's entire form soon grew numb, paralyzed by whatever was coated on the frog's tongue. It seemed all was lost for this challenger.[break][break]

"Rrrgh... No! We're not done yet! We've still got one more trick up our sleeves!"[break][break]

His final gambit.[break][break]

Holding aloft the Tera orb in front of him, he clicks the button right in the middle which allows a stream of energy to be released, all in the direction of his companion. Crystals form around the Shaymin's body, shiny armor that refracted all manner of light off its body. A Grass Tera flower sits on top of its head, completing the transformation and freeing it from its paralysis.[break][break]

This fight was far from over for this pair.[break][break]

Swiftly does the Shaymin shoot off a Tera Blast, but not in the direction of their opponent. Instead, its aimed upwards toward the ceiling. A decently-sized hole is created, stone and brick fall down from up above that safely landed away from anyone's harm. And through it, a light, coming straight from the sun that shined down onto the mythical Pokemon.[break][break]

"Go Shaymin! Give them everything you've got!"[break][break]

His partner lets out a valiant cry, ready to unleash their strongest attack. Due to the power of the sun, its energy is replenished through a quick Synthesis. Then, with a prolonged battle shout, it opens its mouth to spew out a Solar Beam shot straight at the nearest Froakie. If that was just a clone, then it would shift its entire body around to swerve the laser until there was just one target left.

froakie acts with urgency, rushing to vomit HYDRO PUMPS at shaymin hoping to interrupt its final gambit, and even as froakie rushes in with SMACK DOWN to change its type at the last second, it makes no difference.[break][break]

the SOLAR BEAM fires, claiming the victory for Noel Parker and shaymin.[break][break]

tension pulses through the crowd, followed by silence, and finally, applause.[break][break]
