Cass is in the middle of the water route, on a boat, fishing with several other people. And yet, somehow, as she reels in her fishing rod, there's a Skuntank at the other end of it.
"What in the world is happening," Cass murmurs, less as a question and more as a threat to the world at large. The Skuntank seems really unfazed by this, just like Umlaut. "Don't tell me you know each other because you're both out of place ..." she murmurs, staring at the poison type because she's still incapable of even looking at Umlaut with how much he hovers over her.
However, she's quickly proven wrong - thank goodness - as the pokémon started screeching at each other - oh no.
She lets go of her fishing rod - gladly fixed in place - to shut her ears, lowkey trying to shoulderpunch her Toedscruel to stop. "Umlaut!" she calls, and ... actually. He listens. He stops, and so does the Skuntank, and looks down at her. She looks up at him. "Thank you."
She really needs to figure that pokémon out better. Now the Skuntank also seems to calm down, and she could help get it on the boat properly. She looks apologetic towards the other fishers, but gladly, they seem to have returned to their business soon enough. Strangely, they don't even seem surprised at seeing the Skuntank here. "Now, darling, how did you get here?" she asks, sitting down next to a sopping wet Skuntank. He doesn't seem to be injured, which is good, but he does seem rather exhausted. "Did you swim all the way here? But why?" That empty look in his face reminds her too much of a certain someone - like there's just nothing going on in there, just a rotating Miltank or something.
"Fine, keep your secrets. The boat won't get on land again for another moment, so hang on tight." She returns to her fishing rod, and tries to resume fishing - but it's just not successful. In the meanwhile, Jon approaches the Skuntank hesitantly, and the garbage smell coming through seems to catch the Skuntanks attention. He-
"Don't. Please. Martin can only do so much." Cass' hand has grabbed a handful of fur, urging the Skuntank not to start stinking. Gladly, he seems to understand, and leaves it be. There's not many other incidents, except the Skuntank actually bonding with her pokémon in turns, and becoming a bit more lively. He does have a tendency to simply repeat what everyone else is doing, so Cass is a bit worried, but ... ultimately, it's fine, right?
Right?
The boat docks eventually, and Cass leaves last. Almost like a dog, the Skuntank follows her and her pokémon immediately. She stops and turns around, and he does the same - before turning back to Cass. She could just ask and get a positive reply, but there's part of her that's also a little bit curious. She recalls Umlaut, then Martin back into their pokéballs. The Skuntank calmly observes the pokémon disappearing into their balls. Then Jon, after giving him a little pat on the head.
It's only her and the Skuntank now.
He approaches her, holding his head towards her as if he wants her to pet him. "We gotta figure out what happened to you, oh man." She pats him, and takes out an empty pokéball, gently tapping his head.
