Every rustling bush and too-loud cry makes Cillian tense. He has no memory of being taken. That's the part that bothers him most. How could you prevent something you didn't understand?[break][break]

Eager to try out her newly acquired technique, Psellia throws a crackling THUNDER PUNCH toward the first thing she sees. Unfortunately, the Pachirisu's VOLT ABSORB drinks the energy from curled claws.[break][break]

It knocks her back with an empowered ELECTRO BALL, some sparks glancing off her fungal hide.[break][break]

It can do nothing about the TOXIC, however. Even as it tries to escape with the aid of its QUICK ATTACK, Cillian knows it will not be long before it succumbs to the poison.[break][break]

He doesn't wait around to see it happen.

A click of the tongue sees another TOXIC glob spatter against shining steel. It hisses and bubbles as it eats through the metal.[break][break]

This time, Psellia gets to land her THUNDER PUNCH to the merry song of windchimes. The Klefki falls, and Cillian stands over its fainted form with a frown. He already owned one, but they were incredibly versatile Pokémon. Perhaps it would pay well on the BLACK MARKET.[break][break]

So he tosses another ball, and moves on.

He feels the heat before he spots its source. A Sizzlipede skitters up the route, inferno building around it as it prepares to BURN UP. Psellia wouldn't fare well against that.[break][break]

But, READING ITS MIND, she manages to leap clear of the incoming assault.[break][break]

It COILS, perhaps expecting retaliation, but instead Cillian and his charge continue down the path unhindered. It doesn't follow.

The last safari ball sits cool against the palm of his hand, and Cillian's eyes narrow on his next target.

"Be gentle, Psellia," he urges, the smirk in his voice. "These are rare in Hoenn."

She's not particularly good at gentle. She holds off on poisoning it, which Cillian supposes is the best he can ask for, but still surges forward with a brutal SKY UPPERCUT that sends the dragon skidding in the grass. When it tries to get back up, she closes the distance with FACADE.

Cillian prods it with his foot, squints until he sees the rise and fall of its breath.

"Good."

He tosses his last ball. A productive day.
