June stared down at the ball. Dee hovered by her side, the eye barely above the table on which the ‘gift’ rested. When she turned her attention to the letter, it always looked up at her expectantly. Like it wanted something. Praise?

“Ugh, fine,” she put her hand on its ‘head’ and rubbed it a few times. Felt like rubbery hotdogs. Weird.

But this wasn’t a collection thing, she didn’t matter in the grand scheme of things, and her part to play was to kiss the asses of whoever dealt with the threat. No more, and maybe less. The Varooms were a moment of stress and just that.

But she didn’t dare raise her voice. Grigori rested in her bed, and the last thing she wanted was to wake him. That’d be cruel. Looked like she had another to add to the pile.
