Ghost would stand and give his applause to the last pokemon battle. It seems this gym leader was no push over. As he was standing he was about to take his seat until he heard his name being called. This would put a smile on his face as he braced himself.

He would make his way down to the battlefield. It was show time and he was tired of waiting. As he looked on he would see a steelix being called fort. Ghost had one of his own and she was a monster to deal with. So he just knew he had to come correct with this one.

As he released his pokemon from his pokemon. Ace would appear in all his glory."Let's go Typhlosion, your up let's show them how to do it." As he fixed his hat he would look on at Gym Leader Gwyar and then say," My name is Ghost Fireheart and I am here no we are here to take them your gym on."

Just like that*He would snap his fingers as Ace went in for the attack standing three meters away he would release a mighty Flamer Thrower right at the giant steel type.*

The Gym Leader did not verbally respond at the young man's bold declaration, nodding his head sharply instead.

A blast of fire came barreling from across the arena; the Steelix's reaction proved surprisingly swift— drilled into it by select training.

Like a writhing snake, its body coiled sharply as it drove its titanic head towards the earth, the flames singing at the edges of its steel frame as they passed through the the arching, shifting hole created by its shifting mass, tail following after its body as it drilled into the earth as smoothly as a gyarados diving beneath water's surface.

The earth trembled and upheaved around the hole left in its wake as it disappeared into the deep dark beneath.

Ghost would look on as the fire engulf the battlefield only to fade away. It thought it was for sure a clear hit but in the end he was wrong. "OK OK ok cool," he would say as he fixed his hat. "Ace don't let one mistake get the best of you we got this now use-" He was about to launch another flame Thrower until he saw the Steelix go under ground.

It seem he took control of the battlefield at least for the moment. "Damn Ace could be in big trouble here if I don't do anything about this." Soon Ghost would try to counter. "They can't hit what they can't see Ace now use Smoke Screen." *Soon the Typhlosion would take shape and go all out with a massive smoke Screen.* The smoke would start to cover the battlefield nearly hole as he woukd run into the center of it. Now he was on stand by and this was a wating game.

The earth trembled as the Steelix tunneled beneath the earth.

The pouring smoke covered the battlefield, masking the pokemon on the field. However— the Steelix was not tracking its opponent through sight; it could not see beneath the soil.

It was a combination of memory, as well as the seismic vibrations, that allowed it to try and track its opponent.

The earth began to crack and upheave sharply, before a gargantuan steel maw tore through near the Typhlosion, its massive body sweeping through the area.

Ghost was a bit worried and now he was starting to see where his Typhlosion was lacking at. As he prepared himself for the incoming attack. He knew this was going to hurt but how could he defend against such a foe? As even Ghost could feel the rumbling of the ground. He would look on and then give Ace an attack to do. "It looks like we gotta go with offense as well Ace. Now use Flame Thrower go."

*Just then Typhlosion would look down and let out a mighty Flame Thrower towards the ground. It's fire was sure to heat up the battlefield literally* Ghost would look on as he started to think and his thoughts were not too good." Geez this guy is nuts could it be I enter a battle I just wasn't ready for?" Self doubt would start to lurk in the back of his mind.

The Steelix crashed into its opponent, but swthed in retaliatory flames, the searing fire charring into the steel frame of the titan as it reeled back, its body thrashing across the arena.

It coiled sharply unto itself as it widened the distance between them—

Before suddenly springing back and uncoiling sharply, the corkscrew motion bringing with it a roaring twister of dirt.

It exploded outwards, spreading across the battlefield without warning, visibility lowering— it wasn't a twister. It was a sandstorm!

Ace was in trouble as he looked on as did Ghost. They needed to turn things around and turn them around fast else it was all over. Ghost would then call out for his Typhlosion to use another smoke scene. However he would see the Steelix rushing at him.

But what was it doing and why was it turning around like that? Then it struck Ghost as the sand started to form and he realized that the Steelix was trying to hit him with a Sandstorm. But Ghost was no fool as he looked on. He would have Ace hit him with a flame Thrower one more time.

"OK we have no choice we will end this right here and right now. ACE USE FLAME THROWER," just then the Typhlosion would release a mighty flame Thrower attack. The blast of fire would rush at the Steelix but it appeared weaker then before.

The sandstorm dominated the battlefield, transforming the weather.

Still, the opponent fought on, their blazing fire cutting through the sandy dunes before blasting towards the large steel snake.

It craned back its head before spitting out a massive rock, letting the stone crash into the fire before firing again and again.

Three rocks blasted against the flamethrower, the first two getting blasted apart by the sheer potency of the flames, the last managing to fly towards the Typhlosion, threatening to hit for super effective damage if it didn't dodge.

Something was off and something was not right in this fight. Ace his Typhlosion was not moving how he should be moving. He had been slowed down and Ghost was extremely upset at this. "Could this be my first lost... I Refuse to expect that. Ace now use Flame Thower."

Ace clearly was too weak to listen as he was standing up. He was wobble and he tired with all his might to cone up with the might to fore off his deadly fire attack. But alas the 1st shot hit him and knocked the Typhlosion back. The 2nd would hit him directly and knock him right out. Just as the smoke Screen came about. Ghost would quickly raise his hand. "HEYYY!!! It's over my pokemon can't go on." He couldn't see him though the smoke but he could tell that the Typhlosion was out cold. As he fell to one knee Ghost would then say out loud. "I just don't get it I had the upper hand with rope advantage. So how in the stars did I lose just howwww?"

The battle came to an end, the gym leader returning his Steelix to its pokeball as the challenger rushed for his partner.

The blonde approached, kneeling besides the young man to look over the Typhlosion. It did not seem to be in serious danger— a quick trip to the pokemon center would have it back on its feet.

"Good effort, young man." He said, clapping the youth's shoulder. "Unfortunately, type specialists are often prepared to turn the tables on those seeking to exploit their more obvious weaknesses."

Though gym leaders often fit the tag of type specialists in an effort to teach younger, less experienced trainers the pros and cons of type advantage, a fair number of those gym leaders could switch gears and turn a seeming weakness into a nightmare when dealing with tougher, more experienced challengers, as Ghost himself was.

"I'd recommend you study and rework your tactics, then return." The Gym Leader said, looking over the typhlosion. "Your partner was rather powerful. With well thought out strategy, I'm sure you'll be able to claim the Aurum badge before long."
