A wave broke with more momentum than usual, not just kissing her ankles but wetting the hem of her dress, and she laughed softly. She delighted in the tide washing over her feet and the wind in her hair and the smell of salt just as much as she would have in diving.[break][break] Turning away from the sight of the ocean to continue on her way, the coordinator became aware of another woman coming down to the shallows. She hoped the stranger hadn't seen her laugh at nothing — although, if she had, what harm was there in that? Famous violinist or no, she was no longer a Fisk; she could afford to be less than perfect. She should know it already, really, as that life was in the past. Old habits were just hard to shake.
