Having come to visit Petalburg City, Blossom would've been remiss not to go on a stroll through the woods. The air here was scented by the trees ahead as much as by the sea behind; even though the water couldn't be seen from where she stood.

Her time spent taking deep breaths and achieving perfect harmony with nature ended all too soon, since a wild Nuzleaf saw fit to interrupt by playing an unsettling melody. Blossom jumped, her eyes snapping open, a sight which the Wily Pokémon relished in visibly. Darjeeling, serene and gentle Darjeeling, actually bared her teeth.

"Peace, Darjeeling, it's alright," the ranger murmured, a hand coming to rest on her partner's head, and the Deerling stood down. "Good girl."

The ranger advanced into the woods without further ado, soon leaving the Nuzleaf behind. Darjeeling kept pace with her, tail flicking now and then. Yet they had walked only a few paces when another wild encounter cut their stroll short. This one, though, couldn't have been any lovelier.

An Ivysaur was standing in the open air just up ahead, soaking in the spring sun.

The girl gasped in sheer delight, hands flying up to cover her mouth, and halted where she stood. The last thing Blossom wanted was to startle this precious being into fleeing; and so she contented herself with watching over it from a distance, still beneath the trees. Her Deerling decided against interfering as well, only moving its head to nip at its Trainer's fingers affectionately.

Time seemed to dilate as the pair stood there watching the sunlight streaming in through the leaves above their heads and simultaneously fall into the glade unfiltered, bright and golden. Shade or sun, tree or sky, this was the most wonderful thing Blossom had ever witnessed.

She could not have said how much time passed before the Seed Pokémon shifted and turned to look straight at her, its bright sweet gaze piercing her heart. As she lifted a hand to her breast it called out just as sweetly and brightly in what was, unmistakably, an invitation.

Wanting to protest yet not daring to speak for fear of ruining the golden spell that laid over the woods, in the end Blossom nodded and walked out into the sunlight, shy with happiness. Both she and the Deerling went to stand by the Ivysaur, and in tandem the three lifted their faces up.
