Alec was at the park, letting his Pokemon have another day to relax and have fun together. Iris, the Piplup, Shade, the Deino, and Veda, the Dratini were all playing tag with each other, running around and having fun. Meanwhile, Alec and his three big guys (Charizard, Salamence, and Dracozolt) were all sitting next to him. Alec rested his head on his Salamence, Rex's body, which the blue Dragon did not seem to mind at all.

As Alec had tried to take a quick cat nap, Rex had decided tp try and keep his master awake by nuzzling his cheek against Alec's. Alec chuckled as Rex nuzzled against his cheek and said, "You want me to stay awake, huh? Fine, you win," Alec said, petting Rex on the head.

As Alec and his three big Pokemon continued to sit there and watch, Alec had heard Dracozolt began to click its beak as it had spotted someone walking their dog Pokemon nearby. Alec knew Dracozolt had a problem with other people. Honestly, at first, him getting used to Alec was a hassle too, but surprisingly, Drake had eventually came around. As for other people though, not so much.

Alec tapped Drake gently, calming him down. "Stop that. He's just walking his Pokemon, sheesh." Alec said, reassuring Drake Verbally as well. "Sorry about that! Drake is still a little testy when it comes to other people. He won't do anything though, won't you, Drake?" Alec said, making sure his new Dragon Pokemon understood that this person meant no harm.

kyle finds himself trying to steer his pokemon, all but his manectric on leashes, away from the dracovolt. his poochyena and growlithe retaliated with their growls and stares, something that kyle was used to by now. the situation wasn't exactly new to him.

what was new for him was the pokemon.

he stares at it, the walk growing slow as he passes by the trainer and his group of pokemon. the little ruckus his pokemon make goes to deaf ears as he looks at the dracozolt. only when his trainer talks did he snap back to reality.

"d-drake, huh?" the name suggests that it's a dragon-type if its demeanor hasn't hinted to it yet. he waves his hand in front of him, trying to dismiss the issue. "it's fine. i'm used to working with dragon-types."

he received training to be a specialist for dragon-types, though he didn't really pursue it in favor of pokemon that were easier to train. his eyes study the dracovolt, still unsure about it. "the payoff for training them is nice, but they're harder to train than dogs." kyle feels his two other dogs still get defensive. he yanks their leashes, stopping them entirely.

"what's that pokemon called?" he inquires, getting curious. he pulls his phone out, ready to search for it in the net if he gets an answer. "i haven't seen one of them yet."

Alec was rather intrigued at the fact that the man had said that he is used to working with Dragon Type Pokemon. When the man mentioned his dog Pokemon, Alec had began to look at them with a smile. "You're right about that! However, as long as you know what you're doing everything is alright! Right?" Alec had asked, continuing to look back and forth.

When the guy asked what kind of Pokemon Drake was, Alec had grinned. "Apparently, he's a Fossil Pokemon from the Galar Region? I've never been there though. In fact, This is my first time in Hoenn as well. I come from Johto to be truthful. Anyways, Drake is what's called a Dracozolt. He's a Dragon type and electric as well. He can absorb electricity that's around him as well as emit it himself. Drake is new to me too, but that just makes owning him even more awesome!" Alec said, telling him all he knew so far about Drake.

Alec had felt something tug on his pant leg and had happened to look down, seeing Iris. He picked her up and held her in his arms and had soon began talking again. "Your Dog Pokemon are amazing by the way! Is it okay if I pet them?" Alec had asked. He wasn't sure if they would be friendly considering that his Dragon Pokemon had started it in the first place.

Alec had hoped tho that being able to pet them would show that him and his Pokemon truly didn't mean them harm. However, whether he could pet them was up to their trainer. "Also, Nice to meet ya! Name's Alec Foster! I plan on becoming Hoenn's new Champion!" Alec had said with a big goofy grin.

the request to pet livens kyle up, bringing a wide smile to his expression.

"they're irresistible, right?"

pride fills him as his pokemon get to captivate another person once more. he grabs his growlithe, growls still coming out of him, and lets his feet dangle in the air as he carries him in his arms. the rest get left in their leashes. "aside from this one, sure! the poochyena's harmless for the most part. he's very defensive but growling is all he can do to make himself look strong or something. it's kinda cute actually if you think about it, and..."

kyle notices himself ramble on and on about his pokemon before he stops himself with a chuckle, and then matching alec's grin.

"i'm kyle," he introduces, deliberately leaving his surname or title behind. he memorizes the face in case he does make it to the end. "ooh, how many badges do you have right now?" part of him was just curious how long it would be before he gets to be a challenger. another part just found it the perfect filler for the conversation.

Alec nodded in complete agreement with Kyle. Alec slowly got down on one knee and had began petting the dog Pokemon one at a time. "Well, you gotta act like that to keep mean people away, huh buddy?" Alec said with a big grin to the Poocheyena. Kyle's Pokemon all seemed to love the attention they were receiving from Alec, which was a very good sign.

When Kyle seemed intrigued by Alec's claim of wanting to challenge the Pokemon League, he had asked the young trainer how many Badges he currently had. Alec had began laughing nervously and said, "Well, I don't have any yet. I've been training my Pokemon to make sure I'm ready for the Gym Challenges." Alec said, continuing to laugh nervously.

"But that's okay! Ya know why!? 'Cause I can catch up in no time at all! Just you wait and see!" Alec said, having his big fat goofy grin spread across his face yet again. There was no sense of doubt in words when he said them, as well as fiery determination returning from slight nervousness earlier which was slightly remarkable to say the least.

"Do you do Pokemon battles from time to time?"

he watches alec interact with his pokemon. the growlithe in his arms remains restless, and it knows kyle wouldn't let go of him any time soon.

his sight wanders to his party, taking notice of the three fully evolved pokemon. "i dunno. your pokemon look pretty ready to me." kyle knows not to judge from appearances, but it was clear that his dragon-types weren't being neglected.

it was only when he realizes the number of dragon-types in his party. perhaps a type specialist? he supposed that's one reason to be ready despite the individual performance of each of his pokemon.

kyle turns to alec with his inquiry. he scratches his chin with a finger as he chuckles nervously. "kinda. i sort of need it to keep my job, yeah." he blows through his nose, and transitions back to a cheeky smirk. "i don't think i'm going for the champion seat if you're going to ask that next."

he could, but he'd rather not challenge the other elite four. too much hassle to find them, and he can only imagine that fights with them are messy and troublesome.

Alec wasn't expecting Kyle to say that, but nonetheless the young trainer raised his head with an excited look to Kyle and said, "Ya really think so!?" Alec asked. Maybe it was because of his insecurities that were holding him back. Alec stood up with a smirk and had spoke to Kyle once more.

However, when Kyle said 'job' Alec was sort of confused. "Job? ... Wait! Are you a Gym Leader!?" Alec asked quickly, the pure excitement literally rushing to his brain, making him get ahead of himself. "I know this might be sudden, but ... Can you and I have a friendly battle? Please!?"

Alec had asked, shooting daggers of pure excitement at Kyle with his eyes. It was as if that was what Alec would eat for br3akfast, lunch, and dinner. Honestly, one might think it was a little ridiculous with how excited he was getting, but Alec just couldn't help it. That's just the way he was and that might not change, or at least, not anytime soon.

jumping into conclusion startled kyle, moreso when gym leader was the guess he made. "er, it's not like..." he takes a breath of relief when he quickly shifts the conversation to somewhere else. at least the pacing of their chat resets.

"that's fine, i guess." he shoos everyone away, leaving him with the growlithe on his arms. "battle's one way to get their exercise, i suppose."

he drops the growlithe on the ground and then quickly steps on his leash to stop him from hurtling forward. kyle squats on the ground before taking off the fire-types collar, but not before holding him down.

"and, uh, i'm not exactly a gym leader," he clarifies. "but i do work for the league."

the growlithe finally calms down with his touch. kyle ruffles his fur while he cranks his neck up for an inquiry. "what format would you want? singles? doubles? maybe 3v3?"

Alec chuckled nervously when Kyle had said that he wasn't an actual Gym Leader. "Whoops. My mistake! Anyways, are you okay with a singles match?" Alec had asked with a grin. "I'll be using Drake, Veda, and Shade," Alec said, pointing to his Dratini, Deino, and Dracozolt one at a time.

"The rest of ya can just sit and watch okay?" Alec said with a grin. Inferno, his Charizard seemed a little sad that he didn't get chosen for the match up. "Its okay Inferno Buddy! You will have your chance with the gym Challenge okay?" the young trainer said, petting his Charizard on the head which immediately made him feel better.

Alec looked at Kyle and began to speak to him again. "I'm all ready to go whenever you are!" Alec said with a goofy grin with a goofy laugh as well. It was definitely clear that Alec was giddy with anticipation. Alec was always like that when he was about have his Pokemon battle.

Even though Kyle wasn't a Gym Leader, Alec couldn't help but shake the feeling that this man was strong. Maybe that was why he was riddled with excitement and anticipation.

"singles is fine!"

the pokemon he brought weren't usually a mainstay of his team and were just pokemon in his collection that he has conditioned for battle out of boredom. he takes a glance at his poochyena. maybe he should be teaching some of them other tricks instead of just beating up other pokemon.

he puts his hand on top of his growlithe's head. "astram's taking the field for me." the growlithe barks and kyle stands back up to his feet.

what comes next is something kyle doesn't really like. social conventions concerning battles meant that he has to say it if he was to be polite. kyle usually works around it with controlling the flow of the conversation, but alec beats him to it.

he supposed he really shouldn't be concerned though, since the main goal of the battle is to tire his pokemon out.

"you can make the first move after you call your pokemon out." the way he says it makes him feel weird since he's used to being the challenger instead of being the one challenged. "knock my pokemon out so i don't have to walk them all the way please."

Alec smirked at the fact that Kyle had chosen his Growlithe to battle first. Honestly, it looked rather feisty which would make the Pokemon battle a little fun! After all, what good would a battle do if no one is determined to win it? "In that case, Veda! You're up!" Alec said. The small Snake-like Dragon trilled happily as it slithered in front of Alec to do battle.

"Veda! You know what to do! Fight fair," Alec said sternly, yet gently as well. The Dratini trilled once more with a sense of understanding. He wasn't about have his Pokemon severely injure another trainer's Pokemon. Pokemon battles are normally designed for a Trainer to have the other trainer's Pokemon submit in defeat - not severely harm.

"Alright, Veda! Start things off with Thunder Wave!" Alec's Dratini complied with Alec's command, firing off a small jolt of static electricity at the Growlithe. It wasn't meant to harm the Pokemon, however it would more than likely paralyze the target if the attack connected.

-We'll just say Veda and Deino are still at their base evos. I did fully evolve them recently though. Veda's moves are what they used to be and Deino's hasn't changed :3-

the bolt of electricity causes the growlithe's muscles to lock up on intervals. kyle observes its difficulty in moving. thunder wave has done its job.

"we're going for outrage."

the growlithe barks with enthusiasm. it tries to charge forward, but trips on the first step it takes as his legs start to freeze up from the paralysis. he stumbles on the ground, rolls forward, but recovers back to standing on all fours.

it launches itself towards the dratini with a pounce instead of running towards it. blue flames start to coat its body as the growlithe bares its fangs at the dragon-type.

it's clear that the growlithe wants to grapple and wrestle, but with how its body is paralyzed, the best case scenario would simply be him bowling over the dratini.

Alec grinned when Veda's thunder wave had hit. Honestly, he wasn't expecting that to work right off the bat, however it did which played into Alec as well as Veda's favor.

"Dodge with Agility then counter with Dragon Rage!" Alec commanded his snake-like Dragon. She quickly used her snake like body, veering to the left, turning her small body in a fluid motion which rotated by three hundred and sixty degrees. At that moment when it quickly faced the Growlithe once more, now out of the way of it's attack, it blasted a stream of bluish flames in the hopes of it connecting.

"That's so cool how you Growlithe knows a Dragon type move! I honestly didn't know that Growlithe could learn a Dragon type move!" Alec said, complimenting Kyle as well as the Growlithe for what had just done.

his lip curves to a smile with the comment. there's something innocent with how he words his thoughts that brings kyle to loosen up,.

"that's the best thing he has against a dragon-type, to be honest," he confesses with a chuckle. "although i don't think he'll give up just because that failed."

the growlithe finds himself landing on the ground, ending his rampage prematurely. the puppy pokemon spits a mouthful of dirt out of its mouth with a scoff before turning to the dratini. his face is met with a barrage of blue flames, sounding a yelp. as soon as it ends, the growlithe barks in defiance.

his palms clap twice quickly, a gesture he usually does to denote play. it takes off the anger out of the growlithe when it perks its ears after hearing the iconic noise. "chase after it with agility!" kyle tells the fire-type.

the growlithe gets up from his position and tries to stand back up to all fours. it tries to run after the dratini, but its muscles freezes up midway due to the paralysis.

it brings a smile to his trainer's face, at least, who quietly brings his phone out and snaps a picture of his pokemon tripping.
