"yeah," he answers absently. "cute pictures get more revenue than fight scenes, but what if it's both at the same time?" he lifts his head back from the screen of his phone, staring back at alec with a serious expression on his face.

"follow me on instagram at poochy underscore boys underscore open and close parentheses KL."

the growlithe cries as the flames hit him for the second time. his breathing starts to get more shallow, but the determination in his eyes say he's going for it until he actually goes down. it was admirable, but at the same time, stubbornness wasn't a quality he likes outside of battle.

"second time's a charm, astram. strike him down!"

the growlithe charges again, breaking through the effects of paralysis for a second. speeding up with agility, the fire-type closes the distance quick. he doesn't pace himself, however, and his initial tackle turns to a take down rather than anything else.

Alec put on his invisible thinking cap the moment Kyle had finished speaking. It was something completely innovative as well as very smart actually. Taking a picture of your Pokemon or even a video recording of a battle? That would help any trainer learn where they went wrong if they lost a battle. If only he could do that for Gym battles though. Pokemon League battles were on live television after all, so that really was a great way to learn techniques and form strategies.

"Well when you make it sound like that, it actually sounds pretty cool!" Alec said with his goofy grin. A few minutes after, Kyle and Alec got back to their battle. Kyle had his Growlithe chase after Veda with Agility and used Take Down with a tackle. Veda was hit pretty good, however the Growlithe took more of a beating than she had.

"Alright, Veda! Lets finish his Growlithe off with Dragon Rage!" Alec said with a smirk. Veda shrugged off the pain it felt from Growlithe's attack and sent another stream of bluish flames towards the Growlithe, once more, hoping to finish off Kyle's first Pokemon.

the growlithe eventually falls from the attacks. burnt out and weary, it drops on the ground. a laser from kyle's pokeball recalls it back before its weight lets it touch the ground.

that's the troublemaker down for the count.

he shuffles the pokeball containing his growlithe with the other empty ones until his fingers brush against his sixth pokemon. it was supposed to be for aerial transport, but he supposed there's no harm done with letting his pokemon experience a spar.

"if you're going to be challenging the e4 for the champion spot, might as well practice fighting against these."

from his pokeball comes a hydreigon. it roars as it comes out of its confines. the large draconid looms over its opposition, its shadow casting over the dratini's body.

"hyper voice," the trainer commands.

kyle blocks his ears with his fingers as a precaution. a blast of sound is released from the main head's maw, directing the attack to the dratini.

Alec smirked and said, "Alright, Veda! Nice Job! Keep it up!" Alec said. However, his confidence slightly shifted once Kyle's second Pokemon had reappeared. Instead of a Dog Pokemon like Alec was expecting it to be, it was actually a Dragon type Pokemon. a Hydreigon to be exact. "Huuuuuuuuuh!? You have a Dragon Pokemon too!?" Alec said, his thoughts going around in three hundred and sixty degrees.

A small drip of sweat appeared on his face, but then Alec had grinned? "No worries! That just means we'll have to work harder!" Alec said. Veda had trilled with a sense of confidence right after Alec had spoke. Believe it or not, even though she was in fact smaller than the Hydreigon, she was very brave.

It was then that Kyle had begun to command his Hydreigon to attack with Hyper Voice. It let out a very loud screech, which made Alec quickly put his hands up to his ears, covering them from the loud sound created by Kyle's Dragon. However, Veda couldn't do that. She was forced to take on Kyle's Hydreigon's booming voice and hope to withstand it. Surprisingly she did, however it was clear that it had done a number on her, and that was just it's voice.

"Don't give up just yet Veda! I know you can do it! Now, use Agility to get in close!" Alec had said, just as the Hydreigon's booming voice had subsided. The Dratini quickly slithered towards the Hydreigon and just as she had gotten close, Alec spoke once more. "Thunder Wave now!" Alec said, hoping that the small streak of electricity would be able to reach the Hydreigon.

the slightest curve starts to widen to a grin on kyle's expression when he sees alec keep his dratini on the field.

"yeah. i dabble on every type," he answers amid the smile.

if alec keeps his pokemon on the field instead of recalling them prematurely like him and his growlithe, kyle can only guess that this means that alec was serious about the spar. he supposed he needs to deliver for this match.

"wait. aim. earth power!"

kyle doesn't take any chances, preferring assurance than chance. as the dratini hits the hydreigon with its move, the earth below them starts to rumble before erupting in a large radius underneath them. the hydreigon finds itself relatively safe from the attack through levitation.

Alec almost felt to ground, not expecting the Hydreigon to know a Ground type attack like that. Alec had heard his little Dratini moan in pain, she had tried to get up, but the attack was just too powerful for her to get back up and continue. Alec had smiled faintly, returning her to her poke ball.

"Rest easy, Veda! You did a good job, so please, get some rest!" Alec said. He then turned to his Dracozolt and said, "Your're up, Drake! Time to show em what ya got!" With that being said, Drake made a clicking sound from it's beak; electricity trickling from it, not afraid of the Hydreigon at all.

"Alright! Aerial Ace!" Alec said to his Dragon, and with that, Drake had charged at the Hydreigon with a temporarily heightened speed, using the sharp outstretched scale on it's arms to slash at the Hydreigon as it had came closer to it. Since you brought out your Hydreigon, I figured Drake would be able to handle the job!" Alec said to Kyle with a smirk. Even though that Veda was down and out, this battle was far from being finished.

kyle doesn't know anything about a dracozolt besides that it's maybe a dragon-type based on the nickname alec gave it. not having them on hoenn excused him for not studying what each galarian species did, but he supposed he'd have to look them up now that they're present in the competitive scene.

"a dragon against a dragon is like a sudden death match. let's make this exciting."

his pokemon takes the attack without flinching. the pokemon immediately detects the dracozolt as a threat. all three heads turn to the dracozolt's direction at the same time, with the main head sounding a menacing growl.

"dragon pulse!"

the hydreigon fires off beams of draconic energy from all its heads towards the dracozolt, with smaller beams coming from the smaller heads. instead of converging, it separates to get a wider area of effect. the hydreigon levitates even higher as the attack goes off, increasing his area of influence with his attacks.

it was only then that kyle realizes why he prefers to fight with dogs. they don't really destroy the park as much as a dragon would.

Alec was kind of surprised at Kyle's words, not really sure of what to say. Was it because Kyle said 'Death Match' in his sentence? Who know! "Y-You bet!" was all Alec was able to say at the moment. Kyle's mood had changed so suddenly ever since Drake had come in to battle. Was it because Drake was a Galar Pokemon? If that's the case, Alec could understand why. After all, he too didn't really know much about the Pokemon from that Region, however, he did know that the Hoenn Region was able to make a deal with the Galar Region of some kind. He didn't remember all the details, but the person who told him was Professor Florian, who had given him his Pokedex. [break][break]

A few minutes after Kyle's Hydreigon had taken the hit from Drake's Aerial Ace, it had began to fire off a Dragon Pulse at him, which had met it's mark. Drake was only on the ground though for only second, quickly getting back up from the attack. "Alright, Drake! Give it a taste your own attack! Use Ancient Power!" Alec had shouted. [break][break]

Drake had slammed one foot down on the ground; it's beak clicking violently as the ground had began to break apart - chunks of the ground beginning to levitate, then hurl themselves towards the Hydreigon. It may have had the advantage with flight however, with how much debris was levitating from Drake's Ancient Power, Alec had a feeling that there may have been a chance for the Hydreigon to get hit by some of it. [break][break]

"If ya wanna fight dirty, then we can give it to ya! Right Drake!?" the Dracozolt had seemed to respond letting out a shriek from it's beak. Alec had smirked at the response from his dragon, and then had began to pay attention to what Kyle's Hydreigon would do next.[break][break]
