The heat is nearly unbearable. He can feel the sweat trickling down from his forehead. It’s what he gets for traveling in the desert. Looking around at the endless sand though, he’s thankful that there isn’t a sandstorm in sight.

He tugs at his haori, realizing that its cumbersome weight might be the reason for the sudden influx of heat; however, he bares with it. His brows scrunch slightly as he looks around, hoping that he might sight the pokemon that he’s currently looking for.

Desert Walk

The deseeeeert! Why was it so hot?! Well, he knew why. Because it was a desert, obviously. And, no, he wasn't talking about a deliciously sweet cold treat you ordered at a restaurant after bloating yourself with food. He was talking about the ungodly barren hell-scape he had decided to explore after hearing rumors of a sunken city. Quite the opposite. Why, it had been so hot that it had even forced Ratatoskr to retreat into his NEARLY NEVER USED pokéball to get a break from it all! RATATOSKR. He never willingly went into his pokéball! Sigmund didn't like the idea of walking alone in the desert, however, so he'd summoned one of his partners that could withstand the heat: Legion, his squadron of Falinks.

With jacket wrapped around his head like a turban, and a massive sweat stain pooling across the back his baby blue shirt, Sigmund finished rolling up his pant legs before continuing over a large sandy hill with Legion marching in tow. As his skinny figure appeared over it, however, he stopped when he spotted someone else at the end of it. "H... Hey! Are you real?!" He shouted out, waving his hands at the stranger. But a proper introduction would have to wait: wild pokémon had been alerted by his loud, vocal presence.

He stares at the man incredulously. Was he being serious? His brows wrinkle downwards as he reaches out a hand closer towards the man’s face. Without any hesitation or care for his personal space, he actually grabs the man’s cheeks with an index finger and thumb, pinching it tightly to show how real of a person he is. The sheer thought of was enough to annoy him; though he’d never show it in his expression - choosing to remain apathetic towards it all.

Even after getting physical, the ranger says nothing about the matter instead choosing to look around the plain open desert again. He can see the sand shift a distance away. His eyes squint to get a better look, but upon seeing a Rhyhorn and a Diggersby nearby, he shakes his head, choosing to march elsewhere to find his quarry.

Desert Walk

Very much a 'go with the flow' type— though to an extent, because there's always gotta be anextent— Sigmund makes no move to evade or grapple his way out of the man's touch when he squishes his face cheeks and moves them around. Instead, a low and confused hum emits from the base of his throat and out of his puckered lips as he does so. And he winces when he's pinched, but otherwise doesn't feel any pain at all.

It's only when the man notices a Rhyhorn and Diggersby nearby that he stops... then proceeds to walk away. Confused by the brief and silent interaction, and certainly not sated by it, Sigmund walks after the man and ignores the pair of pokémon as well as they distance themselves from them. "H-Hey! So, are you lost out here, too?!" He inquires, the Falinks behind him sure to keep up as they march along through the sand.

”No.” He says rather bluntly towards the man.

Scanning the area, his eyes narrow downwards at the sight of a small sandpit. He can clearly see the sand shifting downwards and upon a closer inspection, he can see the small orange body of a Pokemon at the center of it all. Seemingly catching sight of the Ranger, a sudden sandstorm begins to pick up in the area. He clicks his tongue in annoyance, reaching for the goggles hanging around his neck, he gently sets them against his eyes to prevent any sand from blinding him.

Reaching down for a pokeball, he tosses it outwards to summon out a shiny Corviknight. Its steel-colored feathers seemingly shimmer for a moment as it cries outwards, looking back down at its trainer.

”Karasu, Drill Peck.” he commands. Without any hesitation, the Corviknight takes flight, hovering over the pit before it dives downwards, beak first. Striking into the pit, it sends the small Trapinch flying in the air in pain. Taking advantage of its sudden flight, he tosses an unused pokeball at it, striking it straight on the back as it plummets downwards.

The Corviknight flies back to him, flapping its wings as it watches the capture.

The sandstorm was one heck of a bother.

All he could really do was lower his makeshift turban and hope he didn't go blind! As he began spitting out sand, however, he felt the sand beneath his feet slowly begin to tremble. A pokémon was approaching. A big one at that. Turning around just in time to see it cross over a sandy hill, Sigmund was shocked to see a Mamoswine charging at them full-speed! It seemed angered by the sand as well. This didn't appear to be its true natural habitat.

Squinting his eyes hard and trying to find the perfect balance of cover with his turban, Sigmund pointed towards the mammoth and issued a command to his Falinks. "Legion, Bulk Up then Rock Smash!" And the Falinks did just so, sprinting into a rapid march towards the mammoth while a red aura blazed all around them.

Upon reaching the Mamoswine, however, they were almost met with rage-filled Double Hit from its tusks! Their Bulk Up made them resilient enough to take the two blows fairly well, though, and the Falinks were quick to follow up with a powerful rock-smashing headbutt! Despite the blurred vision and the annoying sandstorm, Sigmund had managed to pull out an empty pokéball by then and chucked it hard in the direction of the large mammoth.

The ranger watches the teenaged trainer tackle the fairly large Mamoswine with his legionesque Pokemon. Admittedly, he’s a fairly capable trainer as he manages to catch the mammoth without too much of an issue. If only he can put that effort in escaping the desert, he silently muses to himself.

Although he’s momentarily impressed, he can’t help but feel slightly annoyed. If he were any colder, he might’ve left the poor boy stranded alone in the desert, but his duty as a Ranger prevents him from doing so.

Ignoring the other Pokemon nearby, he coldly stares at Sigmund; after all, he is genuinely in destress despite not showing it at this moment. He lets out a low sigh and approaches him. ”What’s your name?” he asks, if only to make a report later on in the day.

The steely Corviknight flies over to Ken, leaning rather menacingly towards Sigmund in the process. Seeing this, he gently pushes the large metallic raven back. It reluctantly gives the boy some proper space, though its menacingly glare persists.

Tldr; passing on the Palpitoad.

"It's Sigmund," The blonde responds after picking up the ball containing his latest capture. Despite the beads of sweat all across his body, the fatigue, and his rather dire situation, he then smiles. The smile is as bright and strong as the sun beating down on them from the sky above. It's strangely suited to their current setting, and one can't help but imagine it being better suited for a fun day at the fair or some other joyful festivities. "What's yours?" He asks as his troop of orderly Falinks reassemble and take their place by his side once more.

As Sigmund waits to respond, however, leaning away from the menacing Corviknight all up in his personal space, he spots a charging Cranidos out of the corner of his eye! Stumbling backwards and turning towards the new threat, he points at the new target and commands his Falinks once more. "Bulk Up! Then Rock Smash!" He exclaimed, watching as a red aura surged around the Falinks while they took defensive positions in front of their trainer. When the Cranidos finally made contact with a Take Down, they pushed it back with their bolstered defense and their shield-like bodies.

Afterwards, they charged forward and bum-rushed the prehistoric creature before pounding on it. A little worried that they were going overboard, however, Sigmund soon intervened. "Okay, okay, that's enough guys!" He spoke, rushing over to the fallen Cranidos before dropping to his knees and reaching for an empty pokéball in his pack. "Sorry pal! We're gonna put you in here now that you've calmed down, alright? And if I survive, I'll take you to the closest pokémon center!" He grinned.
