The fact that neither party can reliable see each other doesn't matter when the entire arena is pelted with boulders. Squashed between a particularly large one, the Salandit can only struggle in place, firing off another FLAME BURST in an attempt to light everything on fire.

With the poison coursing through its body, Steelix is reaching the last reserves of its strength. The metal titan grows ever angrier as its pain refuses to subside, iron tail lashing back and forth. It swings its head in the direction of the flames that eat away at its exterior and attempts to bite down on the Salandit with THUNDER FANG, the SHEER FORCE of its bite negating any potential paralytic effect in favour of raw damage.

[attr="class","spiral"] That THUNDER FANG has all the bite the Steelix needs to close out the match. Held between the beast’s giant maws, the Pokemon has no chance to escape being torn apart. It’s the robotic voice that booms over the PA system, “RETURN,” that provides a way out. The red beam that sucks up Fernando’s Pokemon is also the first step toward Patrick’s victory.

Although the first match was arguably close, the rest of the battle is an uphill battle for Silph. The Salandit’s overall advantage over steel types prove crucial to their advantage. Every poison type that comes after has a much harder time against Patrick’s steel team. When the final one falls, the buzzer dings and the gas no longer flows into the battle field.
