intelligent young woman with a keen taste for knowledge. growing up, aerin had not only plenty of reading materials to pour herself over but was also blessed with coming from a pool of knowledge in the form of her parents. despite that she's definitely the type who's intellect is not a natural gift and she
works hard to keep up to scratch with her studies. she's a truth seeker and isn't afraid to ask when she doesn't understand something - or if her curiosity just wants to be quenched![break][break]
coming from a less than financially stable background, she has learned to be rather
frugal and is the type to be resourceful with her possessions; wastefulness has even become a pet peeve of hers. she's rather
down to earth due to that background, she's a realist, practical, but also just very open-minded in what she experiences and learns. she's certainly an
adventurous type and, especially after spending many of her teenage years being responsible around her younger siblings, she's now been given the opportunity to test things out for herself - something that can at times lead her into slightly risky situations.[break][break]
around people aerin comes across calm, a little quiet and down to earth. she's a
reliable, caring friend and although she's a little more reserved around those she isn't too familiar with, she opens up verbally around those she's fond of with a light playful attitude. even if she is more focused on your problems then revealing her own.[break][break]
it's also worth noting her sense of humour can be a little... bad. dorky puns are a guilty pleasure. so watch out.[break][break]
( - ) there's a firmness underneath the surface, her heart carefully
guarded, like a reliable stone wall that has long ago become almost impenetrable. outwardly she lets her adventurous and hungry spirit out but internally she's empty - seeking purpose and understanding in this cruel world. she's
stubborn, especially with her work in which she seems to have a one-track, perfectionist mind, and won't back down which can get her in to trouble, especially if she has a habit of sticking her nose where she doesn't belong. her
insecurities about her self-worth urge her to overwork herself and often she finds herself forgetting to take care of herself properly. she hates to feel like she's lagging behind her peers. even if sometimes those feelings are unfounded. [break][break]
underneath the tough shell there's a lava core hiding within. aerin's fire lies dormant but, given the right probing, will release a
temper within her that she often keeps in slumber. sense of reason often leaves her at this point, smooth words instead turning
defensive and a little clumsy, released not in violent outbursts but frustrated emotion instead that she can't quite yet control. there's a lot of pent up rejection and hurt stirring there she has not yet to face. questions she won't have answered and years of festering emptiness that she's tried to fill or just ignore to the point that she doesn't know what to do when her wall breaks down. she can be just a little
rough around the edges in terms of her presentation; she's a bit chaotic with her organisation arrangements and isn't all too bothered about getting dirty. she does her best to remember not to bring muddy boots into the house but sometimes you just forget! she's certainly far from a refined gem. also she might be a little too penny-saving to a fault, she's certainly not the type to spend money on herself until that item is literally falling apart. it seems she might have a problem letting go of things. ( <3 ) it wasn't until she left for university that aerin really had the time and opportunity to branch out into the world of dating. she's probably been on a few over the years, perhaps had some simple
flings here and there, however she has not been in an actual relationship for longer than a
month or two. she's always been a little bit too busy with her work to commit. or, at least that's what she tells herself, anyway.[break][break]
honestly she's just got a little bit of a
commitment fear with a dash of insecurities. her mother didn't want to be a part of her life, leaving her and her father to fend for themselves while she went off roaming the world and making scientific discoveries. there's naturally going to be a little spark of anxiety about the idea of it happening again or, even worse, her doing that to someone she loves. thankfully after being on the receiving end of such a situation, it has left aerin determined
to do better by her future relationships but there's always that 'what if' floating in the back of her head. it's made her a somewhat cautious woman when it comes to handing over her heart in earnest. [break][break]
that worry about 'not being good enough' is enough to make her wary but, should the right person come along and with time, perhaps she might be brave enough to plunge into the deep end for them.

fellow researchers - devon-ians, rock enthusiasts, nerds and professors unite. aerin loves being around those who make her think and so some people who share a similar thirst for unlocking the secrets of the universe would be great. also bookworms, she loves a good read, enough so her pokemon are probably all going to be named after literary characters. i can image plenty of brain teasing games, debates and perhaps even some friendly (or not so much) competition going on here. mentor figure - perhaps a senior figure in devon corp or even just someone who knows the ropes of a similar field, i think that aerin having someone to give her some advice and guide her in the correct direction when it comes to her research would be really interesting. it would - hopefully - certainly help with both her confidence and to ensure she doesn't go a little bit too overboard in her quest for knowledge. in return you get a cute dorky junior, or maybe even an assistant depending on the position, to ask questions and be the protégé you probably don't want. outdoorsy buddies - aerin loves being out in the great, wide outdoors. even if she does burn like a corphish when out in the sun too long. from hiking, going on digs, fishing or just camping under the stars; she's in her element. someone to share in these little pleasures in life would make for a lovely companionship. city life just isn't her cup of tea. she's the type who's favourite kind of evening would include sitting out by a campfire and drinking something warm while discussing the curious aspects of the universe with a companion.[break][break]
rivals - in pokemon battles or scientific endeavours! someone to push her into being a better version of herself, to build up her confidence or just teach her that it's okay to not always be the best would be very worthwhile in both of these aspects. someone please race her to a dig site where they compete in seeing who can find the most interesting discovery first - petty shoving or good-natured sabotage included![break][break]
