The legends surrounding the mystery dungeon of the Infinit Tower was very distinguished that everyone in B&B decided to take a try. If not for the promise of extravagant loots awaiting those who would conquer the spire at the center of Dragnor Kingdom, Valerio would say no one would really bother hiking the PK-Fest of an area. Several players did succumbed to a few others, respawning back to the Kingdom and returning back to the tower, only to be killed again. That's why most of the players who tried going into this part of the game often find themselves in a party to keep themselves from dying. That is, if their partymates don't betray the.

Those few lucky players who managed to fend off the other teams had the opportunity to see for themselves the room at the 99th floor. This is where the first of the many bosses of the Infinite Tower resides and guards the stairway to the 100th floor, where the loots are said to be located.

98/F.

There is only one problem in this scenario.

The last to hit will be the one to receive the key to the 100th floor's door. If that person is not willing to share their loots to their teammates, Valerio is sure the battle with the final boss is just the least of their worries.

Valerio, who appeared in the virtual reality in his late 20s, sporting crimson hair and dressed as a general with a steel on one hand, then halted at the doorsteps leading to the stairs of the 99th floor. He began addressing his partymates with a voice so confident and smug. "It sure is a long way from the ground floor up to this point and we're all excited to defeat this beast and I thank you all for your efforts in helping one another. But I'm telling you, guys, if there's someone to hit last this menace of a creature, it's going to be me."

Ever the submissive one when it comes to conflict, Florian offers no further objections. He's a little worried about the blonde ranger getting the last-hit and pissing off the party leader but if it comes to that, he'll do his best to mediate.[break][break]

The door opens to reveal a dragon, and the dark-haired Healer grins with a flash of sharp canines. Oh, perfect. As a fairy-type, this is exactly the sort of fight he was made for![break][break]

"Ready!" he affirms.[break][break]

As it's the start of the battle and everyone is at full health thanks to his earlier efforts, the healer takes up a position between their frontline tank and the rangers in the back. He'd usually prefer to keep a bit more distance, but a dragon should be the one to fear him.[break][break]

Twirling his staff, a thread of pink energy blossoms from its tip and swirls around the dragon, pulsing threat. The Draining Kiss saps strength from the beast and, should Leafae have been wounded, would return it to him.

finding a party that reaches this high was a blessing. most people were either dumb enough to bite more than they can chew or simply lacked the gear to keep up with the level of mobs. thankfully, this party was workable.

"you really shouldn't be saying things like that. you're going to bait me into saving my skills for the last hit, you know."

he won't though. it was much easier to use them off cooldown and to keep firing away instead of thinking about pacing them to get the maximum burst. then again, he is running low on ammo so he might have to use them sparingly for this fight.

kyle has his face buried on his interface, grumbling as he takes inventory of the loot he has gotten along the way. his weight capacity is about to reach his limit, though he already sorted it the ones he can throw away from the ones he needs to keep.

"let's just finish this," he mumbles as he closes the screen. "i need to get dinner soon."

[attr="class","spiral"] Fernando nods, playing along for now. As long as they remain in a party and provide some sort of use, there's no need to go against the traditional group play. "Aye, aye. Whatever you say cap'tain." Who last hits the boss doesn't really matter considering they're all together but the thought does cross his mind. Is Valerio only saying that to boast or is there a more sinister intent?

He keeps his musing to himself and twirls his pistol around his index finger. After extensively using it in PVP, he's grown accustomed to handling the outdated flintlock weapon. It looks like it belongs in a museum but here in a medieval setting, it fits surprisingly well.

For reasons unknown, Fernando's been occasionally passing on loot in favor of allowing Kyle to keep it. He allows the others to grab their choice during his roll as well but that's only to avoid suspicion. He need to keep his inventory empty so make sure that his most valuable loot isn't randomly discarded should he die.

Valerio scrutinized his team well as they all responded to his chatter. The elf-ish healer was the magnanimous in the group. The warrior ought to give him enough respect and gratitude not to contradict his attempt to reconciliate the party for keeping them alive and wel up to this poinT. The blonde ranger sounded proud and confident, probably one of those players who only join parties to survive in the late game for them to hoard the loots eventually, even though Valerio knew he's just counting fingers before he ran out of ammo. Good thing he proved that what he lacked in resources, he made up with strategy and skills. The other ranger was far more cunning, more belligerent than the other two. Valerio noticed him passing the opportunity to gather loots, in contrast to the already heavyweight aaaaaaa. If he's right, then maybe they're both thinking the same thing: in this mission to subdue the monster of 99/F, the only important loot is what's past that golden door.

"Yeah, yeah. There's no need to fuss. I'm just saying this as early as now because you know, I'm the one in-charge here."

He's not really. But among a group of ranged fighters and a healer, the one who specializes in close combat is the one calling the shots.

Valerio finally opened the door for the rest of his crew and what was revealed to be guarding the treasure room was a gargantuan garchomp in a mega-evolved form. Its roar is enough to cause anyone who hears it to tremble in fear, but the warrior is fired up with both trepidation and excitement.

"Healer, Rangers. Ready." Valerio's armor gleamed in silver light, his breast plate and other coverings bulking and firming with every pulse in the otherwise dark dungeon llluminated only by torches at the sides. His SHIFT GEAR move never fails to amuse him and those who were showered by its display.

Valerio addressed the blonde ranger, his eyes he deemed enough to get his attention as saying his player name out loud made him feel embarrassed. "I'll treat you dinner after this. But first we have to kill this bitch."

his expression contorts from annoyance as he sees the garchomp. being immune to his main damaging move makes the process of wearing it down much more tedious and longer than the previous floors.

"no bolt beak for me by the way. sorry."

he feels the need to remind them of his main damaging skill in case they feel their run being slower than earlier. they'd understand that there's nothing he could have done.

kyle aims his arrow at the garchomp's eye, mostly because that's the weak spot on most shows with gigantic dragon-types that he had seen. it probably wasn't the same in the digital world, but there's no harm in keeping up with the theme.

the arrow flies, spinning in the air as winds surround it. it shoots through the garchomp as air slash finds its mark. it finds a hit and kyle watches the health bar tick down.

[attr="class","spiral"] The ground type Pokemon puts a damper on Fernando as well. His ZAP CANNON is the bread and butter of his build. Without it, he still has a length arsenal but none of them prove as potent or long lasting as his signature PARALYSIS.

Welp. He doesn't have much of a choice. Spaced far enough to prevent the spread of corona, Fernando notches his pistol. "CHATTER," he announces, lining a clean shot for the Garchomp's chest and center of mass. Wherein Kyle seeks to deal damage, Fernando is their reliable CC. It's more important to land a clean shot and inflict the guaranteed CONFUSION than to hope for a critical hit.

He pulls the trigger and it hits the Garchomp just as he intended. When the shell bursts, the sound vibrates, shaking the Garchomp up as the CONFUSED status effect blips above the Pokemon's head.

Useless pieces of shit. That's what Valerio would say if ||||||||||||||||||||| did not manage to confuse the gargantuan garchomp and if swear words ween't banned in the Hoenn server. Being a half-ground monster, their buffed electric attacks were deemed useless in the final battle and it looks like it would be the warrior and the elf's job to carry their butts off throughout the raid. But as much as it pisses him off, Valerio decided to be a good sport and continued tanking for the team.

The two rangers targeted vital parts of the dragon's body. The blonde ranger's AIR SLASH cut through its eyes, blinding it momentarily. And with the other ranger's CHATTER, the CONFUSION would buy them some time to crush its health to a vibrant yellow.

"DRAGON RUSH."

Valerio's character, surrounded by thick fiery aura, held tightly to his steel and launched a light speed strike into the beast's legs. The pounce made the dragon further lose its balance, took a step backward before taking a solid fall into the ground, still unhinged by its CONFUSION status.

The warrior noticed his attack barely scathed the monster even for a powered up dragon-type move, but he's hopeful it already reached the yellow zone.

"We need to work quick if we're going to defeat this monster. There needs to be an adjustment since you can't use your electic moves. The elf and I will be facing the beast head on. But what will you guys do?" Valerio gave them an opportunity to collaborate. After all, rangers aren't his cup of tea, and he couldn't do anything for them if the giant garchamp snapped out of its confusion and decided to knock them down with earthquke.

And with just the right amount of luck, he heard loud stomps on the ground, signifying the dragon is still awake.

Confused and injured, there was no doubting the fact that the Garchomp was seriously pissed off. Leafae plants his staff into the ground in a bracing animation as the beast snarls its fury and the earth trembles threateningly as it stamps its feet. Lacking the power of a full-on earthquake thanks to its status effect, it still spells out a clear threat for the rangers in the back: end it quickly, or suffer its wrath.[break][break]

"I'll do my best to mitigate whatever damage it does," Florian promises, "though my Life Dew won't help much against an earthquake."[break][break]

Taking advantage of the opening that remained while the beast was struggling with its confusion, the healer activates his Draining Kiss the second it comes off cooldown, doing his best to keep the dragon's ire away from their ranged companions.

kyle clicks his tongue at the damage. it's not bad, but it's not good either. he stays back and opens his interface to check his inventory once more, snapping his fingers to activate an innate crafting skill for high level rangers.

dragon scales he got as loot turned to dragon-type arrows. a quick motion of his finger scrolls through the screens, opens his equipment screen and drag an item from his stash to his equipment all done in under a few seconds. he punches through the screens as a quick way to get it away from his face.

"damage," he answers brusquely.

he fires an arrow at the garchomp, each of them hitting for super effective damage. unlike skills, auto attacks do not have a cooldown and can be fired at the target as fast as the character's stats allow them. they weren't as strong as skill spamming, but good damage is still good damage.

kyle stands at max range, pelting the garchomp with dragon scale arrows without the fear of retaliation.

[attr="class","spiral"] Once the CONFUSION sets in, Fernando takes over Kyle's job of inflicting secondary status effects. He lacks the same equipment that the other ranger has and reverts to bringing out his summon. A scantily clad, life size fairy appears behind him, manipulating the wind around him as it points toward their enemy.

"Don't worry about us. Keep your head in the game. You're the melee."

An AIR SLASH hits the Garchomp across its neck and the FLINCH status condition pops up. Toggling between CONFUSION and FLINCH means that it can't do much damage to them. However, none of them will know that the more times that the Garchomp comes under its status effect the bigger of a resistance it builds. The game won't let a boss like this fall without consequence. It builds a slightly higher resist rate each time it FLINCHES or hurts itself in CONFUSION.

For now, it's still low enough to chain the statuses but that won't last forever.

So far, so good.

The team was not entirely helpless at all. Valerio noticed how the yellow turned orange as soon as both rangers employed adjusments in their strategies. Even the healer notched a few bars from the dragon's health with his DRAINING KISS. Valerio pounced the second time.

"DRAGON RUSH."

The grip was tighter than ever, his light speed attack dashed into its body, his aim at its neck, but the dragon recovered from the confusion and flinch and decided to attack as well.

After Valerio's assault connected, the giant garchomp's health bar dwindled a few blocks, but the creature did not seem affected blew the nearby warrior with a FLAMETHROWER. The impact diminished his health into almost a half.

Valerio clicked his tongue. One or two more hits would end up him respawning back to Dragnor Town Square, and back to floor one.

"Heal me, leafae." Valerio ordered the elf healer. "The longer we halt it by status effects, the longer it becomes resistant. This garchomp's becoming a pain in the ass."

The warrior readied himself once more for his familiar dragon-type move, but the dragon was not around. At least not on the ground. The mammoth garchomp leaped to the hall's ceiling, and as it landed back on the floor, it released a fatal EARTHQUAKE.

VALERIO's SPEED (+02) and ATTACK (+01) increased.
VALERIO uses DRAGON RUSH.
