Arthur was born in old money. The Corbin family is one of the noble families of Kalos region and is well-known for their martial progress, particularly fencing. It was no surprise that the heir would get to train in the art from a really young age, but the boy didn't just show practiced skill, it showed diligence and innate talent. It was only natural that his father would push him to excel there. [break][break]

Arthur was an only child and as such all the hopes and expectations of the Corbin family as well as the Allard family (his mother's side) rested on him. This put a lot of pressure on him and he had to grow up and he had to grow up fast. However this didn't result to what you would get from a kid having to grow up because of financial reasons. Far from it. Arthur was always catered to, but not in a manner that would allow him to grow unrealistically spoiled. Military family background would not allow for that. He just grew up expecting too much out of people and out of himself. Fun was meant to be found through achieving mastery on skills such as Fencing, Rapidash riding, studying finance and being prepared to take over the family when it was time.[break][break]
That shaped a rather arrogant and cynical young man, but he wasn't always like this....well okay, not to the extend that he is today. His mother, afraid that her son was losing sight of other, equally important, parts of life decided that enough was enough. Arthur had just won the gold in the Kalosian Fencing League and he deserved vacations. His mother had arranged for him to spend his summer vacations with the Desmerais, who were good friends with both the Allards and the Corbins. It was that time he spend with the girls that allowed him to step back a bit and be a somewhat of a kid again. He kept in touch with them and particularly Selena. Being really close in age helped a lot to what later developed into a romance that didn't go quite as planned. It was perhaps the last straw for both of them. Selena left Kalos and the life of a noble and he returned to his old ways, drifting further and further away with each day.[break][break]

The only thing that stopped him from becoming a completely cold-hearted businessman and athlete were his pokemon and the time he spend with them between fencing training and University. It was very limited but it was all he needed to keep what little empathy showed through his cynical outer shell. Now he is in Hoenn for a Cross-region Tournament, but perhaps this is going to be more than that.[break][break]

Fun facts[break]

• Vivian Allard, his mother, is the Director of Lumiose Museum. The Allard Family owns Hotel Richissime. So whenever Arthur is not training for a sports event, he is staying in Lumiose at the Hotel.
• The Corbin family crest is an Aegislash bearing the shield at the front. Above the mantle in their family manor just outside Geosenge Town, rests an Aegislash that has not moved since the founder of the family passed away. The family is waiting for the day the sword pokemon awakes again because that would mean the Corbins will soar even higher.
• Arthur met his Farfetch'd when he moved in Galar for a year to train with a famous master. The bird was found sneaking around the facilities and when caught in the act it actually challenged Arthur and a couple of his co-athletes in a duel. When it was Arthur's turn, he managed to defeat it and the pokemon stuck around with him ever since. While it appears that Arthur at most tolerates the pokemon in public, in private he really dotes on it in his own way.
• His second pokemon was a gift from his mother. A Ralts that is rather meek and shy. While the combination might not seem the best, his mother knew what she was doing as the Ralts is pulling out Arthur's more protective and nurturing side.
