Gavin quickly decides that Ignis is not his cup of tea. It would be an interesting place for PvP if not for the fact that it was a non-PK zone, leaving it to be populated with new players and those not brave enough to test their mettle against real people.[break][break]

Of course, he could easily be mistaken for one of them due to the fact that he was here to do some solo grinding against the mobs, so he decks himself out in his PvP gear. It's less efficient than some of his other threats, but he has a reputation to uphold, damn it.

Charmeleon is a step-up from a lower-level Charmander mob, and this one proves its heightened AI by starting off with a smokescreen that obscures the immediate area. Annoying.[break][break]

Gavin dodges its flamethrower with a parting shot, his increased distance from the mob forcing it to wander out from its protective black fog. With a clear sight-line on it, the rogue blasts it with several dark pulses from range until it goes down, leaving him with a smarting burn from its flamethrower as a parting gift.[break][break]

He'd expected this from Ignis, and had bought several burn heals from a vendor before starting his grind. He applies the salve to the wound and the status vanishes from his health bar.

A plume of lava erupts nearby, and Gavin barely manages to roll out of the way in time to avoid the cascading molten rock. He finds himself faced with a Slugma, a trail of flame in its wake.[break][break]

He poisons it with a couple rounds twineedle, taking a hit from its rock slide and only recovering a small portion of his health when he tries to leech life from the fire-type. Still, something was better than nothing. He dodges a couple flamethrowers and finally sees an opening to inflict his signature venoshock, reducing the slug into a mess of pixels.[break][break]

Catching his breath after the numerous dodges, he collects his loot.

Even a rogue's nimble dodging can't outmatch the extreme speed of an Arcanine. The fiery dog crashes into Gavin at full force, bowling him over and pinning him down. He struggles against its weight before managing to stab at it with his daggers, poison wounding the beast and causing it to whimper and back off.[break][break]

As soon as he sees an opening, he uses his parting shot to gain some distance. It charges with flare blitz, but its slower movements are far easier to dodge and he ducks as it leaps and sails over him.[break][break]

A dark pulse catches it on the landing, and venoshock is enough to finish it off. Gavin's hit by the wheel of flame it had fired off before perishing, and his health bar begs for the regenerative aide of a campfire. His leech life won't do much for him in this kingdom of fire and ashes, so he resigns himself to a break and retrieves the last of his loot.
