"maybe you're getting ahead of yourself." she teased, shooting back the retort as fast as he said it.

"if you want that smooch - you'll have to do better than that!" Salazzle bounced back, not yet out of the race. she aimed a flamethrower at the Morgrem this time, scowling through her flames as Dire mocked her. "yes, yes, yes. scorch that little guy!" Mercy cheered from her spot, doing a little jump in the air for good measure.

"hm..." Dire examined the scene as Morgrem would get caught in the wave of the flamethrower, but this was far from over even so. That was one point for her Salazzle though. "Let's try to keep that from happening again, Impy." Dire spoke inspirationally to his Morgrem, he wondered if he should take out his phone and put some music on- then he'd probably be undefeatable with his tunes reinforcing his charisma, but he'd chill for the time being. "You hear that, Impy? we have to earn the right to call her that nickname- it seems she still hasn't figured out how tough you really are, how about a Dark Pulse?" Dire would point his index and middle finger together at the Salazzle, having Morgrem hop to it and release lashes of dark energy out at the Lizard like pokemon.

[attr="class","cmonbody"]the Morgrem landed another hit, but at least Salazzle hit something this time. Mercy didn't know why her lizard was having such a tough time of things with this fight. typically, Salazzle did better. but the girl wasn't going to let Dire know this.

he'd just call it 'cute' again - she was trying to be serious. show him she was more than 'cute'. she was tough, even if it played to her ego that a guy follow her around and worship her just for her looks. but if this was gonna continue, she had to make sure he knew who she was.

"try to hit him again!" this time, Mercy cheered an indirect order. Salazzle grunted softly, shooting a venoshock at the annoying little Morgrem.

Things were getting interesting in a manner of speaking- it seems the banter stopped between them as her dear Salazzle had been having even more trouble landing a hit. This time, the poor lizard just missed again. Dire cocked his head to the side and the Morgrem just shrugged it's shoulders with that same smile. "She's left herself open, Impy- go on for a Bite!" Once again the Morgrem would try this move closing in on the Salazzle attempting to hold her by the arm before sinking his teeth into the open shoulder of the toxic Lizard. [break][break] Dire eye's would focus up on Mercedes. "She called out this time..." He'd say under his breath, if he recalled correctly that was the first time she gave even an indirect order, the Salazzle's head must have been in the clouds because it was becoming more obvious this maybe wasn't something the pretty lady adjacent to him was really used to, then again- look at who she was up against.

[attr="class","cmonbody"]"c'mon, Salazzle" Mercy's lips curled into a frown "you're embarrassing me!" to which the Salazzle responded by smacking away the Morgrem before it could sink its teeth into her shoulder. the lizard twisted briefly to look at her trainer, huffing.

"well, you know it's true" the human responded by placing both hands on her hips "and I know you can do better than this!" they had cleared trials together, after all. it was better than some silly league challenge. "c'mon, hit him again!"

returning to the battle, the lizard aimed another venoshock at the imp. there was a frustrated glint in the Salazzle's eyes. she wasn't going down without a fight.

"What the- you missed the bite again...? but- oh I get it" After seeing Morgrem get hit with that next attack from Salazzle it was all starting to make sense. "You're getting cold feet because of the poison- understandable." Well, there would be no more biting- and it looked like the toxic lizard was finally starting to pick up the slack, even giving a menacing glare at O'l Impy. "hm...? whats that gleam in your eye Impy?" Dire would take notice to his pokemons retaliation to the determination in the eyes of the Salazzle- he didn't want them getting too cocky after all, he wasn't going to let the lizard win this. "Play Rough, Impy!"

[attr="class","cmonbody"]both Salazzle and Mercy knew better than to cheer after one successful hit. it wasn't over yet, even if the lizard was beginning to get weary from keeping up. the human's concentration was full now that the end was almost near, and she'd lean forward with narrowed eyes.

the Morgrem's attack hit her Pokemon again, causing the lizard to briefly lose her composed and regal bearing. Salazzle lurched forward, panting a bit. she was almost at her limit. they hadn't exactly fought in a bit, so Mercy knew she shouldn't expect so much. but it still stung to lose.

"flamethrower, again" the girl ordered this time. shooting fire at the Morgrem, Salazzle hoped for a hit.

"Dodged like a champ, Impy" The Morgrem was able to barely get out the range of the flamethrower to be unscathed, from the looks of it- Mercy's Salazzle couldn't take much more of a beating from Dire's Morgrem. He wanted to be cocky, but it'd be really funny if he spoke big and then missed what looked like it would only need to be the final hit- so he refrained from teasing the woman with his ideal hair color. Morgrem wasn't nearly as exhausted as the toxic lizard, but it was true the last thing he had been hit with he was pretty vulnerable against- hopefully this really would be the last hit he needed. "It stings, I know- but you're about to make them sting a LOT more- you know what to do, Impy"

[attr="class","cmonbody"]the Morgrem's hit was a refreshing change of pace. Mercy didn't laugh, no, her eyes stayed focus on her Salazzle. the lizard was also quite glad it had too, having enough of playing rough and just wanting to pound some sense into the duo type.

"venoshock!" came the human's command, and the Salazzle aimed yet another Poison-type attack at the imp. a spray of acid shot toward the active Pokemon, hoping to take advantage of its weaker typing and score a direct hit.

"c'mon..." Mercy bit her lip delicately.

The Salazzles back was against the belt of the ring and Dire's Morgrem was still going strong. He was pretty sure that the frisky lizard couldn't take another hit, but Dire needed to land the hit still, so nothing was certain. "I'm motivated to win, Impy- I know you can do it." Dire was really getting into it, he struck a pose as he pointed down the Salazzle. "We'll deliver the final blow, by Playing Rough!" Dire would announce just before his Morgrem would hop forward again to pounce the dainty lizard, hopefully for one last time.
