Alec had wondered around near New Mauville, only to have hit the Jackpot. Metagross were everywhere, and ever since he had heard about them, he had always wanted one! This was his chance to catch one. He looked at his Pikachu, Kaminari and asked, "Hey Kami, what's 91+1?" Kaminari looked at Alec with a puzzled look, not knowing what he was even talking about. Instead of Alec giving the Pikachu details about the simple mathematical equation, he just chuckled at Pikachu's expression, and then threw a Pokeball at one of the Metagross that was nearby. Hopefully the big guy wouldn't break from the pokeball so easily, the young Gym Leader thought to himself, watching it eagerly, waiting for the pokeball to click. [break][break]

seeing these giant metal beasts in action was pretty great but now they were let loose to wander the wilds of the lands around mauvile. of course they could have just went on home but with a few stragglers around how could kazimir not want to try his hand at trying to capture one? these things were legendary for their strength, it would be insane not to at least attempt to try and get one on his side. lucky for him he managed to land on top of one as it floated by the tree he was hiding in, how well that would work was a matter of time. "alright big guy! time for a lesson, 1 + 1 = 2 and me and you are the ones and the two is our badass combination. so come work for me!" he shouted as he slammed a pokeball onto its metal skull.

He was always on the lookout for big and strong Pokémon, and of course the moment he’d gotten wind that there were some of these congregating somewhere he decided to jump on it.

Now, he knew that his Golurk was just a silent, sentient sentinel, but he couldn’t help notice that the other was getting… jealous?

“Are you… Alfons, are you mad?” he began with a chuckle as he placed his left hand reassuringly on the Golurk’s shoulder. “Really, just because we’re going to be adding someone new to the family doesn’t mean you can just up and outright ignore me…”

Shaking his head, he thought back to those weird… number problems… like, if someone had a certain number of Watmel berries and was travelling at the speed of sound to get to some destination, find the value of x and by x that was how fast he was going, well…

Either he was complicating things or it had to be something simpler like “how many would you get if you put 2 eggs in a basket that had 6 more eggs, would you get either 8 eggs total or a freaking giant omelette because you weren’t careful and dropped the basket” but he shook his head, he wasn’t cut out for complicated mathematical equations… ahh, shit, now his head hurt.

Holding up the fingers on his right hand, he drew numbers seemingly to himself, but the general principle was that 3-1=2? Or something? He was number-crunching Pokéballs and had to be careful!

Before he could even blink, he took one out and shrugged before taking aim and lobbing it overhand, watching as it burst open in a flash of red light in an attempt to catch one of the hulking beasts…

A metal leg pointed the group out to the trainer, and once a few steps forward showed no provocation, she dared to approach. Titan’s arrival, it seemed, was welcomed with open arms (legs? girders?); within seconds, the Metagross were chattering away. Something told Annie that, even if they’d been speaking perfect Japanese, she would have been lost in a storm of words.

Eventually, her partner turned to her. Like a parent bringing their child to work, gestures and cheery calls introduced the girl to the others, and then directed her gaze downwards. A claw carved letters and numbers into the ground. Together, she recognized them as algebra – a form of math she hadn’t seen in years. Formulae rarely showed their use in a trainer’s life, but she’d spent enough time in school before it burned for her to know what to make of the equation:

9x-7i > 3(3x-7u)

It took a few minutes to get old gears working, but the Metagross clan were patient, and seemingly eager to see what she made of it. They knew that she had solved the puzzle when her face lit up, her cheeks reddened a shade, and after a few seconds, she rushed to hug her Titan. Such a display proved good enough for one of the wildlings to gesture to a Pokeball on her belt. A knowing nod from it left no doubt in Annie’s mind as to what it wanted.

How long has it been since he has been here in Hoenn? Almost four months now right? Once again, the scarred male was hoping to accomplish so much in this amount of time. But yet again, he failed his own goals. Back home, the trainer hoped to finish at least three gyms in one year. Yet seven years later, he only managed to get two. There was a few reasons like natural disasters and other odd things but still, Maverick found these reasons inexcusable. It made him wonder, if he didn’t leave how long would it have taken to get all eight badges? Let’s do that math.

It took seven years for him to get two badges. If he kept at that rate… Maverick lifted his hand, counting the fingers to calculating how many years it would have taken. 7 years / 2 badges = 3.5 years for each badge. With only 6 badges left, that means 6 badges x 3.5 years = 21 years to get the rest….. right? Maverick sighed, math was not his strongest suit. And apparently, time management wasn’t either. Well… He could only hope he doesn’t repeat that here.

Josh stood shocked as the cornucopia of Metagross hovered overhead, flanked by some Beldum. What could they be doing? Perhaps trying to solve the great mystery? Or did they just flock like birds? The blonde-haired Trainer was just... Well, he had no idea how to take all of this. He tried to count the lot of them, but seemed to lose count.

"1... 2... 3... Umm... 2 plus 2... Uhh, shit. 2 plus 2 equals 4, there's 5, there's... No, I lost it again" He muttered as he would continue trying to but soon enough gave up and took out a Pokeball. Well, he supposed he could try and catch one of them, though that was going to be a challenge with the number...

How long had this jaunt been? It felt like he'd been sailing atop Reign only a moment, feeling the spring air flap through his linens and tousle his hair. Checking his watch, the time read 4:12 PM. Around the time he'd left the house it'd been like, what, 3:03 PM? Time flies... The pun he'd made was not lost on him as he began a descent towards Mauville, hovering over the nearby routes from a bird's eye view. ...One hour and nine minutes.

That's how long he'd been gone, heedless to his stomach's growls for food. I'd better get some-

Watching a cluster of Metagross on their egress from New Mauville was indeed strange, but presented a grand opportunity. His mind made up, his fingers grabbing fistfuls of his Corviknight's plumage, he directed it towards the wild pokemon.

And when they got close enough, a fist would spring back with poke ball in hand, pitching the device towards the desirable swarm...

Actual math hadn't been something she focused on or worried about. She knew that 2+2=4 and she knew basic calculations and multiplications and how many fingers someone would have left if she caught them pilfering her things.[break][break]

But the Metagross swarm was particularly interesting and worth her time. Well worth her time. Because what better Pokemon to have than one that was incredibly stupidly smart? Emma could use smart - she needed smart.[break][break]

The woman lies in wait as the swarm passes underneath her. At some point, she drops a Pokeball in much the same manner an apple had on Isaac Newton's head. Whether or not it succeeds is another question.[break][break]

She was upset. Her father was being his usual self as usual and trying to buy his way into her good graces. This, of course, would work most of the time but today she just wasn't having any of it. The hurried click of her heels couldn't be heard over the many oohs and aahs of the people around her. She was so into her phone call with her father that she didn't even notice the Metagross swarm that she was walking through...That was until she nearly bumped into one. It's eyes bore into her and all she could think about was the price of the new dolce and gabano shoes that just dropped. 450.00 + 10.00 in taxes. Maybe. I don't know. It'd be nice if they came in the color of this metagross though. Unfazed as she stared the metagross down, she watched it float away and in that very moment she reached for a Pokeball in her purse. She could use the final evolution of the line. [break][break]

Isra quirks a brow at the message on her phone, coming from the youngest of her brothers. He is one of few people that know her love of math, how the patterns of formulas and equations rolling around in her brain entertain her when no one is looking. Or even when they are and she simply isn't speaking or being spoken to. He is also one of the only people willing to entertain it.

Fitting it seems, that she comes across the swarming metagross when she does. The equation is familiar enough in her head but she supposed that showing one of the pokemon straggling at the edge of the group and watching her closely couldn't hurt either.

The pokemon makes a sound of inquiry, but does not give her an answer. She supposes that's a fair enough response coming from a wild creature that's been given such a task by a passer by.

That question always bugged Valerio. In the Dachev Sem'ya, when the state commited genocide against his people, it took only five dragons to wipe out an entire family of an ancient nobleblood. And only one remained.

He figured out it was a good idea to train in New Mauville, just like what his new rocket underboss said. A swarm of metagross came flying from the powerplant's interior, and he was not about to let it go to waste. He tried to tackle one of the beasts before pushing the button of his handy pokéball.

kyle stares idly at his phone as he reaches the place where metagross have swarmed. it was an unusual occurrence to have such pokemon gathered in one place, and kyle was only there to look at people trying to catch them.

"hehe, it says here that you can run 6.2k miles in a whole day."

the arcanine looks at him, bewildered, as he looks at his trainer stop moving and momentarily look up to the sky. he appears in deep thought, and the arcanine feels like it's a bad idea to interrupt.

the fire-type gets surprised when kyle finishes his inner ramblings. and looks at him. "wait, is that fast?" kyle ponders aloud. he scratches the back of his head before giving up and shrugging. "wil, can you run at, like, your max speed?" an experiment was needed.

the arcanine hits his head really hard against the metagross plating, though kyle saves his pokemon from retaliation by throwing a pokeball at it, giving his pokemon enough time to back away.

Beckett had been having a little picnic in the park area when a swarm of Metagross suddenly passed overhead. Abandoning his meager arrangement of food in favor for this amazing sight, the young man bounded back up onto both feet before rushing ahead to get a better view of the spectacle. The Steel-type pokémon emitted strange metallic sounds as they flew, and seemed to fly at perfectly spaced intervals between each other. Beckett hadn't seen anything of this magnitude since he'd left Holon. The sight brought a wide grin to his face.

Considering he was a Steel-type specialist, the lad knew enough about Metagross to understand that they were almost constantly processing some sort of mathematical equation in their head. They were powerful beings, sure. But they typically prized knowledge above all else. So, in the hopes that he could draw one close to him and befriend it, the silver-haired trainer was quick to think up of an equation of his own.

"Uh... uhm... Euler’s Identity! E to the imaginary unit to pi plus one equals zero! My dad used to tell me a joke about it! Have you heard it? It goes, 'How many mathematicians does it take to change a light bulb?' And, well, the answer is... -e to the I unit to pi. Which I'm sure you guys know equals one, haha... ha."
