If there was one thing Joe knew it was that his stock needed to be exercised and watered everyday, after all, no one wanted a skinny, lazy Pokemon. Today Joe planned to let two of the pack run around the route.

Thomas and Paul were two of the more energetic growlithe in his inventory, Thomas being more calm and Paul being more scatter brained. They were a good combo for walks given neither ever strayed far but even on his narrow route it wouldn’t matter much if they did.

Whilst the two puppy Pokemon played in the tall grass Joe sat at a bench and looked through his phone, sifting through his contacts and looking for “buyers.” every now and then he’d take pictures of the Pokemon to advertise them but so far he got very little interest.

Unknown to Joe, Paul had begun bouncing a little ways away from his brother and began hassling a dark haired trainer, barking at them, not so much angry or cautious just barking to bark.

[attr="class","illie b]sometimes, it's nice to take a break from duties to enjoy the little things in life. today is no exception for the scientist as she opts for fresh air instead of the stuffiness of a lab. there's something about the sun shining down on you during a quiet walk that seems to make everything feel warm and comfortable. well, it was supposed to be quiet, anyway.

coincidences or fate or the like always seem to have other plans.

barking draws her attention away from picking out shapes in the clouds overhead. it's coming from in front of her, loud and demanding attention. the two dogs at her sides, a growlithe and golden poochyena, practically jump at the noise. they're friendly, sure, but shy little things. clara, especially... the poochyena lets out a soft whine and drifts closer to illeana's now stilling legs as the foreign growlithe approaches. "hello there," she coos, bending to get closer. "you're so cute!" a smile graces her features as the canine continues to bark. favilla responds in kind with a yip of her own and a wag of a floofy tail.

and then, her eyes are roaming because a cute dog like this has to have a trainer, right? sure enough she finds a man with another canine hovering close to the bench he's on. before she can consider the notion of stranger danger, she's sauntering closer with both of her pokemon at her heels. clara sticks closer than favilla as the fire type is more interested in the canines than the man himself. "hey," she chirps once she's within speaking distance. a hand rises with a slight wave and then hovers at her ear, tucking a stray piece of dark hair behind one ear. "are these your growlithe?" and then, a soft giggle follows before she's glancing toward the one that had been barking at them. "this one seems pretty chatty!"

Paul’s tongue lolled out of his mouth at the attention, panting excitedly at the woman and her two Pokemon. The sight of another Pokemon just like him had earned his infatuation, perhaps that was why he was barking with such vigor. As airy as he was he was a good boy, friendly but loud.

On the other end of the route Joe was still thumbing through his phone for interested trainers or breeders but so far he got nothing promising. As dejecting as it was to be a salesman that couldn’t even pedal a few puppy Pokemon he wouldn’t give up and continued his looking.

That was until someone would catch his ear.

From in front of him someone called out to him breaking his attention from his phone to the source of the disruption. At first glance he was taken back by the ravenette’s appearance. As distracted as he was he almost dropped his phone out of a limp clutch, the device nearly slipping out of his fingers before he’d get a grip back on it.

“Oh yes!” he beams, shooting up from the bench and standing straight. “These are my boys! Oh no, did they bother you?”

Looking down at Paul and back to the woman he’d offer an apologetic smile, “I apologize for any damages he might have caused, really, he’s very well behaved… Miss?”

Thomas hadn’t been paying much mind to the commotion, rolling in the grass and minding his own.

[attr="class","illie b]she's quick to fall for a dog. there's something about canines that never fails to capture her. hook, line, and sinker every time. perhaps it's that affinity that prompts her to drift closer, to find the owner to gush over their choice in pokemon. she doesn't have to look far. in fact, the chatty growlithe practically leads them back.

clara sticks close, golden fur brushing against the scientist's ankles with each step she takes. she's careful to move slow, to be considerate of the meek poochyena. favilla, on the other hand? her own growlithe is already dissolving into playtime with the other two canines, soft barks of her own mingling with theirs. it's cute, really. something she probably would love to see more of... perhaps she should consider finding another to keep hers company.

the man is quick to rise, nearly dropping his phone in the process, and she's untucking the strand of hair behind her ear only to retuck it a moment later. "they're adorable," she coos. and then, her other hand quickly waves about, fanning his question away without hesitation. "oh, no, they didn't!" reassurance drips from every syllable and it almost strikes her as odd in a way. usually, she's the one needing reassurance, needing to apologize for something or someone.

"no need to apologize," she chirps. her smile widens and she's flushing slightly, hand leaving her hair alone to extend toward him. "illeana, illeana reyes. it's a pleasure, sir!" clara peers up at the man from beside her, blue eyes sharp and cautious. she presses a little closer, applying mild pressure into illeana's ankles. a soft mixture of a growl and a yip escapes her, then, and the scientist is glancing down not even a moment later. while favilla joins thomas in rolling around the grass, the woman bends to scoop up her poochyena, hands slowly beginning to trace light circles into aureate fur in a soothing manner. "have you had them long?"

“Joe, Joe Gotti.” he spoke with vigor as he shook her hand, one could have mistaken it for pride, “It’s a pleasure to meet you Illeana.” out of the corner of his eye he’d catch a look at the poochyena. As cute as it was the golden coat was what caught his attention. Were Poochyena normally that color? He couldn’t quite recall, he’d have to look it up.

The dark haired woman had another Pokemon, a growlithe of all things and it was just as playful as his boys. Paul had taken to the other Pokemon instantly, pawing at them while they rolled in the grass and bouncing over his brother to try and get the new growlithe to play with him.

If there was one thing that that puzzled Joe it was that for some odd reason people found Growlithe cute. Maybe it was the tufts of fur on their chest and head, or how some of them looked absentmindedly at people and other pokemon with childlike admiration. To Joe, it was weird, but today one of his bengaled mutts helped him get the attention of a hot brunette so he couldn’t complain.

Speaking of said brunette Joe was trying to piece together how he’d respond to her question. He didn’t want to seem suspicious, “Oh! Yeah. I’ve had them ever since they hatched ahaha.” he’d fake a laugh, resting his chin between the thumb and index finger of his right hand as he crossed the left over his body, “Yep, in fact they have four other siblings out of the same hatchery that I uh, also train. What about you? Have you had these two for long?”

Joe made a slow attempt to pet the golden poochyena. “May I?”

[attr="class","illie b]the smile flashed is genuine, pleasant, almost friendly. it's a pleasure, indeed. at her side, clara stares up at the man as their hands complete the shake. hers returns to her side a moment later and the poochyena is pressing closer to her. joe's attention shifts ever so slightly toward the golden pup, much to her chagrin. as if meek and uncomfortable, clara shrinks away from his eyes while her own dart away toward her frolicking sister.

favilla is more than happy to get rowdy with his pair of growlithe. they're fun, energetic, everything she wants in play mates! a volley of yips escapes her as she bounces toward paul. a playful growl follows and then, she's pouncing with every intent to have a mini wrestling match.

an eyebrow raises and illeana is leaning forward slightly, hanging on every word. he hatched them? oh, that must've been so exciting! "how did you hatch them?" it comes tumbling from her mouth before she can stop it and a moment later she's flushing with mild embarrassment. quick to cover up her eagerness, she adds, "if you don't mind me asking, that is!" her curiosity only heightens with the mention of four other growlithe just like these two. wow, incredible. that must be some dedication.

"oh," she murmurs, cheeks deepening in color as the spotlight shifts toward her. how long has she had her two girls? well... her mind tries to pinpoint the exact date but she has a feeling he isn't too concerned about specifics. and so, she brightens and chirps out a reply with a smile. "a few months! i stumbled upon both of them in the safari. they're total cuddlebugs." a fondness seeps through the syllables and it's rather obvious that the scientist is completely enamored with each of her pokemon. there's something about each one of them that seems to set them apart from others of their kind... perhaps the specific personality traits or the way they mesh so well with her own. either way, she's the picture of pride when discussing her babies.

clara stares at joe as he slowly approaches, the tips of her claws digging slightly into illeana's arms. the woman doesn't mind, however. instead, she giggles and offers a gentle dip of her head. "of course!" and then, with a glance down toward the golden pup in her arms, she's quickly adding, "she's a little shy, though." or wary of strangers. both work in the end.
