a simple intro i hope.

[attr="class","hearmenand2"]Cruising beneath the cerulean skyweald, street lights flickering overhead as his car rolled through the outskirts going over thirty was Adrian in quite the hurry. His free hand rummaged for a zippo from his pocket. The cigarette held squarely in his mouth rolled around with an impatient grimace as he struggled to strike the flint and ignite the lighter, placing it near the end of his coffin nail before finally setting it ablaze. It cherried for a moment as he tucked away the lighter, before plucking the cigarette from his mouth and exhaling the first drag of smoke.

That's much better... Adrian rolled down the window, the cabin suddenly brought to an almost chilling temperature as the breezy air rushed over the leather of his jacket, siphoning the smoke out of the car. Tapping the tobacco against the ash tray by his console, Adrian placed it back between expectant lips, allowing it to settle.

"You still alive over there?" He'd chide them for their silence, casting a cursory glance their way in the dim of his car's cabin.
It'd been a few minutes and neither of them had spoken a word... perhaps that's why he'd fixated on his nicotine needs in the interim, avoiding the matter momentarily. "Want some help waking up...?" He'd waggle his eyebrows lasciviously at River, hoping to get a rise out of them from it.

Normally River was the sort to enjoy a little dare-deviling. But little did Adrian know, River was prone to motion sickness and driving over the speed limit in a really fast car just wasn't his cup of tea. That, and whatever he ate last night was now deciding to not agree with him.[break][break]

So when Adrian lit a cigarette and glanced over his shoulder to ask him if he was still alive, River's paler-than-usual face expresses a grimace before growing wide-eyed as they take a bend too quickly.[break][break]

"Not for long with the way you drive."[break][break]

Though it seems someone in the car is enjoying the situation. River's golden Shinx has her paws up against the door, head hanging out as she thoroughly enjoys the wind blowing through her face fur. She glances back at River's pinched face with nothing but excitement, much to River's chagrin.[break][break]

He burps then, closing his eyes and sinking lower in his seat.

[attr="class","hearmenand2"]The car pitches forward as they begin to decelerate, Adrian fixating on the road ahead of him quickly dwindling to a dead end. They were nearly at their destination. "If you're gonna puke, do it out the window," he ordered River, not wanting to find out how difficult it would be to get the leathers back to their cleanly state. So much for showing off, he mused to himself, staring at River's pallid complexion through the rear view mirror mount.

A massive fence sat at the end of the stretch of asphalt where Adrian halted the car, pulling over to the sidewalk and staring at the grounds beyond. Some sort of abandoned warehousing...? It hardly seemed a safe environment for racing, but it was away from prying eyes, and that likely suited whoever was orchestrating these events. Makes it easier to rig them, too.

Adrian reached for the driver side door, clutching a handle with a click before it popped open, filling the cabin with the stale-yet-brisk late evening air. Slamming it shut, making sure the belt of poke balls was still secure against his waist, Adrian reached out and clasped a hand for the back seat passenger door, opening it for River and their companion, Shinx.

"Didn't figure you the queasy sort," Adrian offered with a sheepish smirk, trying his best at an apology for his disgruntled plus one.

As the car pitches forward, so does River's lunch. He manages to aim it out the window as the glass slides down rapidly. Thank God.[break][break]

Shinx recoils from her master's disgusting reflex, forcing herself forward and out the other window to breathe in fresh air rather than whatever had made River sick. Thankfully, the situation de-escalates almost immediately and River sinks back into his seat. At this point, he's taken the time to actually give a damn about where they're going, and notices the massive fence.[break][break]

It seemed an incredibly odd place for racing, but what did he know? River didn't drive, it's the reason he'd been ushered into the back seat and Adrian had taken the reins. [break][break]

They come to a halt and Adrian is the first to hop out. River follows not long after but seems more focused on composing himself and not looking like a mess for their meet up. The last thing he wanted to do was embarrass himself more than he already had.[break][break]

However, instead of accepting Adrian's apologetic remark, River takes it negatively as per his ego, and wrinkles his nose at the man.[break][break]

"Oh, lay off..."[break][break]

He smooths down his shirt and glances away to maintain his stoic, irritated composure under pressure.

[attr="class","hearmenand2"]Adrian gives a shit eating grin, knowing them well enough to realize he's chaffed their ego with his antics. "Alright, have it your way," he teases between the flashing ivory of his smirk. He's a bit out of his element here, truth be told, but he's come this far with a singular goal in mind.

"Have you heard anything about this guy?" Adrian asks in a hushed tone as they reach the closed gate, which he reaches out to and gives a firm jostle, listening to the creaking groans of the tarnished metal that refused to budge for him. It was all much too loud as well, so instead of forcing his way in, he decided it best to simply scale over it. And so he began to climb, leather jacket and loose-hanging belts flapping as he clambered up the gate, leaving River in the dust.

At least he's getting a nice view out of it, he silently mused as he reached the top of the gate, rocking against the flimsy wire gate for a moment as vertigo hit him bad, but quickly tucking himself against it and flailing a leg over the other side, straddling it for a moment. "Glad it's not barbwire, but it still-rgh...bites."

After scaling down the other side halfway, he relinquished his hold on the gate, plummeting the rest of the distance into the dusty gravel below with a grunt before patting himself off. "A bit worse for wear, but I'm alright..." And now for River to try their hand at it. I gotta see this...

River glances back with a flat look of mild irritation - he's honestly gotten over their brief spat, he's just a brat. But at the question, the boy shrugs indifferently.[break][break]

"I don't particularly stick around long enough to get all of the details."[break][break]

As in, he'd probably had earbuds in and couldn't be arsed to pay attention to whatever he'd been told. Whoever this guy was, River had absolutely no interest in learning about. [break][break]

In fact, he hardly hushes his own voice in the manner that Adrian does. He merely does his best to keep up and stay low. When they get to the fence to climb, River looks thoroughly unimpressed. Where was Katherine Fairburne and her handy Gallade? Teleporting in sounded a lot safer and a lot easier.[break][break]

Alas, he does get a pretty damn good view watching Adrian scale the fence. It rattles under his weight as he drops to the other side.[break][break]

River glances at the guy as he lands with a dustcloud entrance on the other side. While he's patting himself down, River is second-guessing just how important it was that he even follow. He does, of course, tackle climbing the fence himself, and almost certainly giving Adrian the tantalizing show he was anticipating.[break][break]

As he gets to the top he stradles his weight evenly, slowly but surely inching his way back down before dropping next to Adrian. [break][break]

"Satisfied, pretty boy?"

[attr="class","hearmenand2"]"Not really; I was hoping you'd know more," he quipped with a poorly veiled smile spreading his lips thin. Of course he was happy. It didn't take much, and he was much too capricious in that sense, flitting between emotions at the drop of a dime. But even so he'd come here with an ulterior motive, one he couldn't lose sight of quite so easily...

"I don't even know what he races on..." From the tell of it, obviously their choice of mount was beyond fast, but there was more to it than just that. This Drift King played by a different set of rules, turning these illicit races into crash derbies more than not. He'd have to watch out for that.

"Are you racing...?" Adrian hadn't given much thought to it, but since River had come along, perhaps they had a stake in the race as well. But then again, after their incident in the car, that hardly seemed likely. Maybe they just wanted to make sure he didn't do something recklessly endangering. Yeah... about that...

For some time he stumbled aimlessly around in the dark between the dilapidated warehouses, River left without much alternative but to follow or find his own path. It wasn't until he'd navigated through the narrow space between two buildings that led even further from the gate that he caught sight of a whir of motion which he nudged towards with his chin, eyes locking with River at his side.

"Time to say hello," he forced in a mocking tone, taking a few more padded footfalls forward until they reached the other side of the warehouses. And there to his left the building was left with a massive gate left ajar, housing the contents therein. Adrian was able to peer inside as they encroached on the threshold, catching the sight of a few trainers and their pokemon.

"Yo," he announces himself, crossing his arms while flashing his pearly whites. "'M looking for the Drift King... you 'im?" He jeered.
