Asher let out a laugh and waved around them, grinning. "Well, why not here, Arashi?"

The outskirts were as good a place as any, and it wouldn't take much walking. He promptly ignored the way Arashi fussed over his arm. It really would be fine if they'd stop talking about it. If they stopped talking about it, he'd forget about the pain... probably. Internally, he was babying himself and complaining every time he moved his arms, but moved them regardless to keep up face.

"This place has a good battle ground, for sure." He took a few steps back, giving his hitmonlee a sort of good game pat before backing away. "So, come on now. Hitmonlee, square up."

The hitmonlee responded immediately, beginning to bounce on his long legs, back and forth, never ceasing his movement as the battle seemed to, 'begin.'

“If it works, it works. I’m not going to be picky anyway, so…” he agreed with a nod, before placing his arms behind his head as he followed the older man through the area. They would eventually come to a wide-enough space that had just enough obstacles to make this interesting, before he nodded in his Salazzle’s direction.

The reptilian Pokémon returned the gesture before standing in front of her capable (if somewhat short) human companion and waited for the match to begin. Arashi wasn’t sure if this was just a sparring match or if this was going to be an all-out battle, so it was better safe than sorry!

“Let me start us off, then. Luxu! Get ready with a Nasty Plot, and hold the line! Don’t take your eyes off the other Pokémon, track him with your sense of smell if you have to,” he began, before a rather nasty-looking glimmer was seen in the Salazzle’s eyes.

He then waited for the other to move forward, seeing as the Hitmonlee was standing ready.

"Let's test the competition, shall we?"

Asher knew that the dual type would be a fierce thing to overcome. It wasn't as if his hitmonlee had anything that would be super effective against the pokemon. Because of that, he decided it would be best to make sure he got a hit in. Hitmonlee was already bouncing around pretty excitedly.

"Close combat." He told the hitmonlee, just so that they could get a good look at what this salazzle had to offer in close combat, since he hadn't known them for such a feat.

It didn't take but a few seconds for the hitmonlee to cover the distance between them, using his legs in a rapid assault against the salazzle to execute the move his trainer had told him to.

Arashi knew that Fu, his Hitmontop, was fast.

But compared to this one in front of him? He was pretty sure the aging Pokémon would get pummeled in an outright fight with the Hitmonlee!

The other Pokémon had moved in so fast, he barely had time to blink and register as the first attack hit right home, causing the Salazzle to shriek out of surprise before being forced back a considerable distance. Wow. Talk about hitstun right there, she was caught completely off-guard! He thought as the Salazzle began to hiss at the Hitmonlee, spitting mad that it was caught right off-guard.

“Okay, let’s see if we can hit him. Get another Nasty Plot ready. After that, try to catch it with a Flamethrower attack!” he continued, backing up in order to allow the Salazzle more room to maneuver.

A second glint of malicious mischief crossed her mind, before she kept her beady eyes on the Hitmonlee. After a few moments, she inhaled… and released a strong stream of flames.

Where was it going? She had no idea. All she knew was to throw the attack out right in front of her.

Or was he coming in from the side?!

She had no clue!

It seemed that hitmonlee had learned a thing or two about small rapid hits to gauge how an enemy moved before giving that final hard attack, knocking the salazzle back. Unlike Daisy would have, this hitmonlee didn't rejoice. He simply braced himself for the other pokemon's attacks.

It was while the salazzle was thinking up it's next move, with that nasty plot, that Asher decided on his moves. "Mind reader, then lock in for a high jump kick."

With a sort of 'Ha!' the hitmonlee concentrated. It left him vulnerable for the flamethrower, and even caused a burn, but the reckless nature of the hitmonlee led him to leap into the air and twist, coming down to hit the salazzle hard. And thanks to the mind reader previous, the salazzle would be too predictable for the hitmonlee to miss.

Asher smirked. "Poor thing."

At first he was in control of the situation, and then… he wasn’t, really.

He caught sight of the Hitmonlee staring with a concentrated look on his Salazzle, before it suddenly took off—coming down right on top of her with a High Jump Kick attack!

Arashi had been too surprised to react, hearing the Salazzle cry out of surprise—he had blanked out for a few seconds before the hissing noise ended with a sputtering cough and the Salazzle had collapsed.

“Luxu! Are you okay?!” he exclaimed as he dashed over to where the dual-type had fallen—whatever Asher had done was well-executed for her to merit falling down and meeting an early end in the battle. Salazzle weren’t that bulky, after all—they were built more for speed and ending things quickly.

“Ouch, man—guess that’s getting back at me for earlier,” he chuckled as he recalled the Salazzle, the wind having been knocked out of her sails entirely.

Oof.

“I recognized the High Jump Kick, but not the other technique—what was that you used?” he inquired a few moments later, ever the eager learner as always.

Asher explains as he makes his way toward Arashi, looking not all that sorry he'd knocked the creature out. He was, however, looking to his hitmonlee with approval before recalling the pokemon, since the battle was now over.[break][break]

"Don't think of it as revenge, think of it as a lesson learned. There's no reason for self-punishment here."
