Asher was dressed up, hair slicked back, with a grin on his face. He was playing at the high stakes table and had taken a majority of the money that was placed. At least thirty percent more than where he bought in. Better yet? He felt he could get himself up to fifty... until the fight broke out.

It wasn’t he who started it, but two others. He was apologized to twice by staff, which he reassured them he had been nearly killed in better situations so they need not worry about him. Though their fuss was understandable, since he often came and ‘invested’ in this particular casino quite often. He was treated very well. Some even called him King.

The scuffle caused his taste for cards to wither, at that table anyway. So he moved himself around the casino floor. A staff member carried his chips for him as he walked, eyeing a few tables. One with a blonde and two others looked decently new. He could use new.

So, he took a seat and took a portion of his chips before asking the staff to take that portion to cash into his account for him. They dismissed themselves, and Asher’s eyes focused on the game as he set his ante on the green fabric with a smile.

“Evening Jenna.” He greeted the dealer before looking to the others as he flicked her a ship as a tip with his thumb. “Any luck would far, gentlemen?”

Samuel probably wouldn’t admit it straight out but the man did enjoy gambling despite how calculated and careful he could be. However, what he knew happened more often than not were the odds were typically stacked against him in usually unfair and crooked ways.

That made the fun more about catching the slights than actually winning, though that came with its own sense of accomplishment as well. But this was why at times when he was free he’d come here to test the odds and see how far he could go. His excuse was that it kept his wits about him and while that it was true it was also just fun.

The current table he was sitting at had been quite an interesting ordeal. He wasn’t exactly winning big or even consistently for that matter but he was spotting the little ways the game was swayed. His eyes were taken from the game and then to the new gentleman who decided to take a seat, one that was clearly very successful tonight.

”It would seem that lady luck has been annoyingly elusive.” Samuel responded with a laugh. Now was this the man responsible for the noise that sounded like a fight earlier?

”It seems as though she’s been kind to you.” Samuel added, throwing his hands up as if he were giving up.

”What’s your secret?”

"Now that," Asher began with a grin. "That's not much of a secret at all. See, lady luck is like any partner. They simply need a bit of investment."[break][break]

Tapping the table in thought, Asher decided to fold. He glanced back to the man who he was enjoying the conversation with more than the hand he'd been dealt in the card game. This was usually the case, given his socialite tendencies.[break][break]

"Invest some time, little by little, get repaid big for your efforts in the end." Waving toward the hand he had just discarded, Asher shrugged. "Once again like a partner, there are ups and downs."[break][break]

Referring to the fact that he had to fold, losing his ante.[break][break]

Despite his focus seemingly being on his cards Samuel was paying close attention to what was going on around him, the words of this interesting stranger and the faces of the others at this table that revealed all their intentions.

”Ah but lady luck is a fickle mistress.” Samuel began. He glanced over to one of the other players and noticed the small but oh so mischievous smile on their lips. Perhaps this man was being repaid for his investments.

”You can invest time and time again and never be repaid or your reward is small. This partnership doesn’t seem all that fair, seems like more downs than ups.” He’d shrug.

It was time to decide to play his hand or not and the man did despite signs that his opponent seeming had a winning hand. ”But I much prefer to make my own luck.” He smiled as he played his hand, wiping the smile of the other player away.

Samuel had won this round and when the attention was on him he simply shrugged.

”Luck.”

Asher watched as the man skillfully played his hand. Admittedly, Asher was one that believed in luck like one believes in their pokemon. Might work out for you, might bite you until you learn how to wield it correctly.[break][break]

"Luck, is it?"[break][break]

Asher had laughed, grinning as the man across from Samuel seemed rather upset that he'd lost, pitching so much of a fit that Jenna-the dealer-had to ask him to take a chill pill. He obliged only long enough for Asher's laugh to die down into a satisfied smile.[break][break]

Swapping chairs, he took a seat directly beside Samuel, tossing in his ante and leaning closely, but not looking at Samuel's cards. He was a fair sport, and competitive.[break][break]

"Would asking you to my suite after you've had your fun at this table, be too bold of me?"[break][break]

Yes, already Asher was putting his foot out the door and asking the man to spend the evening. Mostly, he could feel a kindred spirit, and his gut told him to act on it. So, here he was.[break][break]

If he was denied, well, it wouldn't be the first time, but his pride would be taking quite the hit.[break][break]

Well this man was certainly not afraid of being forward. Samuel wasn’t sure how to make of this request outside of finding it definitely odd. He couldn’t help but laugh somewhat at the boldness of this man to ask him such a thing this way.

”Yeah I’d say it’s a bit bold of you.” Samuel said, putting it lightly.

”this isn’t the kind of place where someone asks you a question like that without there being many hidden meanings and intentions behind it.” That being said Samuel was at least somewhat curious as to what he wanted. That was assuming it wasn’t something dubious.

”How about instead we go to that bar over there?” Samuel suggested, pointing to it.

”There are some tables in the back that we’d be able to talk to our heart’s content about whatever’s on your mind.” That would be much more agreeable for Samuel.

All this talking had him forgetting that they were playing a game. But unfortunately, he didn’t have a good hand so he had to fold this round.

Lady luck didn’t seem pleased about his little stunt earlier.

[attr="class","witness"]At mention of the bar, Asher's thoughts immediately went to the more private tables in the back of said bar. Just as quickly, his current conversation partner had mentioned the very same perk.

How interesting. Asher thought and without any hesitation he gave a tap to the table and pushed a decent tip to Jenna.

"Go on that vacation, Jenna. Take the kids."

Now perfectly content to leave 'Jenna' be, he started with the man toward the bar, tilting his head.

"Could I be bold enough to pay for your tab?"

Since he was, apparently, him being bold was just something that oozed when in Samuel's presence... or anybody with a pretty face. A curse.

”Now that I would be foolish to say no to.” Samuel replied. They’d be able to get themselves situated rather quickly, finding a nice secluded table in the back and drinks to keep them company.

Samuel sat in a rather relaxed pose, arm resting on the back of his chair as he nursed his drink.

”Now what exactly is it that you wanted?” He’d finally ask, trying to get to the source of why this man was so seemingly interested in him.

Depending on his answer he might end up regretting this decision.

[attr="class","witness"]What would any man want with another man so gorgeously poised as the blonde across from him? Asher knew better than to be so bold, or vulgar, so he decided to take a charming approach.

"I wanted your attention," He smirked, sipping before setting his drink down and crossing one leg over the opposite knee. "All to myself. It's hard to find good conversation these days. Even more difficult for that conversation to come in a package deal with a pretty face."

Well, so much for not so bold. But his charm would hopefully combat him.

This place had private rooms, right? Or perhaps he read the blonde all wrong. But either way, if he struck out with Samuel, maybe he'd find himself a replacement. Not as good of a replacement, but, eh.

@samuel / rigged gacha rolls mission post 5/5 for asher!

Samuel smiled faintly as he listened to the other’s words, slowing rotating the cup in his hand and watching the liquid inside stir. Regardless of what Asher said Samuel understood the underlining meaning and what the man was getting at, what he wanted. He took a sip of a drink before responding

”Now good conversation is something I can offer but anything beyond that.” He took another sip.

”You’d have to work more for it and especially not on the first date.” On occasion Samuel enjoyed the game much more than the prize, and even more so if he found the other to be more entertaining that way.

And he was a prize not so easily won.

[attr="class","witness"]A prize not easily won, hm? But... it could be?

"Lucky for you I quite like to spoil my potential prizes rotten."

Asher gave a small shift in his seat and sat up. He understood the 'not on the first date' concept. He didn't feel as if Samuel were telling him straight up, no. He didn't even sense any hesitation. He simply sensed... an equally competitive nature, on the opposite end of Asher's spectrum.

And it excited him.

"So, let's have it then. Are there points of conversation you wanted to discuss? Are you in need of a particular list of information before you agree to a little fun? Or do you simply fancy a bit of courting beforehand?"

As usual, down to business.
