his creamy skin had been quickly burning in the hot sun, and maddonis was glad to be out of it and in the shade of the cove, even if it did mean being within close proximity to pirates. they were a special breed. they lacked the refinement of most of the criminal company that the glosse family had always kept.

“they’re so… dirty.” he observed disdainfully, his nose wrinkling. they were rugged and savage, and although he’d never admit it, they intimidated him.

they were loading crates from a rickety dock, likely filled with stolen goods and pokemon. obtaining these crates by any means was their objective. maddonis was armed, but he’d failed to mention the fact he’d never used a weapon in his life. he’d simply crossed his fingers that his pokemon would carry him through unscathed.

they’d been hiding for some time before the pirates inexplicably abandoned their tasks and went below deck, likely called down by the captain or to eat. they left only two men above to protect their haul, and much of it was still on the ground. “what’s the plan?” it wasn’t within his authority to make commands, and that was good, because he still had a lot to learn and was frankly in over his pretty little head.

The supplies had to be worthwhile for her to have been sent to retrieve them. It's lucky that she knows how to drive a boat and that Rocket's discreet submarine base was within reach. They weren't too far from it, with a direct path that would keep them out of sight. They just needed to move quickly.[break][break]

At the man's comment, Emma passes him a fleeting, indifferent glance. [break][break]

"That's what you're worried about?"[break][break]

The woman's attention returns to the pirates loading the crates. They are effectively handling the entire situation themselves, saving she and her partner the extra work in hauling the supplies on board themselves. Eventually, the majority of them (four) head below deck. Two remain, well armed but oblivious. They had no reason to believe they would be attacked: not yet, anyway.[break][break]

"We will be discreet. You dispatch the one near the docks as soon as they push off and start the engines. The noise will muffle our progress."[break][break]

She studies the man on the far side, expression unreadable.[break][break]

"And then we wait."[break][break]

Assuming Maddonis was up to speed, they would both undergo their specific tasks. The roar of the engine coming to life drowns out Emma's takedown. She tightens her elbow across the man's throat, restricting his oxygen until he lost consciousness. He is left in a discreet area, hidden between crates to be dealt with later.[break][break]

Her hidden Ariados and Araquanid take care of his silence, pinning him to the deck in swaths of webbing. He would not be able to alert anyone.[break][break]

maddonis didn’t respond to her question, as it seemed clearly redundant. he was a glosse. this meant two things: he was offended by grime, and his priorities were wildly out of order.

the rocket beast gave her command and maddonis nodded. while he may have not been experienced with a weapon, maddonis was stealthy, and his target could be easily taken by surprise. they parted ways to complete their respective tasks. he took to the shadows, stalking. mohs was nearby, waiting for the cue before floating out into clear sight, piquing the interest of their unsuspecting target.

the pirate took one step towards the sparkling carbink before a smooth hand slipped around his mouth, a cold blade on his throat. maddonis’ slender fingers were trembling lightly, and he hoped his captive couldn’t tell. “come quietly.” he whispered in the man’s ear with a peppermint breath. he then took some steps back into the darkness, still embracing the man as closely as possible without actually touching him. he smelled terrible. there was to be a lengthy bubble bath in maddonis’ near future.

back in the shadows, two gemstones flashed mysteriously. bitxilore the sableye had been waiting as instructed. maddonis wasn’t certain, but he assumed pirates were the type, if anyone, to be superstitious. he pushed lightly on the man’s shoulder to drop to his knees and then knelt beside him, looked him dead in the eyes, one then the other, and spoke deliberately, “one move, and this sableye will gobble up your soul.” his eyes flashed with dark intent and he leaned in to breathe into the man's ear once more. "she's been hungry."

the pirate looked suddenly panicked, and maddonis smirked, standing to leave the two. his carbink floated beside him, constantly remaining on the side of maddonis that was opposite to the sableye, remaining wary of it. the two moved towards the ship inconspicuously, eyes peeled for emma.

On the other side of the boat, the wolf waits.[break][break]

She can hear the pirates moving below deck and she lays a trap for them. The entire basement is flooded with poison with a wordless gesture, her Skuntank's POISON GAS encouraging a serious of choking, coughing noises to rise. She does not kill them, however. Skuntank's instructions were to dispatch, not to eliminate.[break][break]

Emma herself wears a breathable gas mask as she descends. Whoever remains below that was not taken care of quietly with the gas is hard-pressed to not argue with a gun pointed to their head.[break][break]

Several spider-type Pokemon descend from the ceiling, coming out of the woodwork to partake in this opportunity. They string up their targets, pressing them up against the walls and preventing them the ability to speak. When the time came, the Rocket beast would toss them overboard.
She would let fate decide.[break][break]

clear. the word meant it was time to move. he located his superior on the other side of the ship, making eye contact while he climbed aboard. the last time he’d felt the sway of the ocean like this, it had been on a yacht. times had most definitely changed.

he waited for a command that didn’t come. clueless on what to do next, he waited another moment, and then “what now?” he stood there dumbly. he was definitely new.

Her tone is flat as she says this, her chin gesturing behind her. The beast's spiders have already begun pulling the pirates up from the bottom of the deck. [break][break]

"Overboard."[break][break]

And then she begins helping her Pokemon toss people overboard. Their bounds would be cut in the process or melted away upon hitting the water. But otherwise, the ship was overtaken by Rocket and would be safely transported to the submarine without a hitch.[break][break]

maddonis nodded and reached to his hip to release a wartortle. it looked around, assessing the chaos with confusion, and then looked back to its trainer.

”help us throw these men overboard.” he commanded him. as the men were delivered to the deck, he cut restraints with his blade and, with his pokémon’s help, pushing from below in a way, they began hoisting pirates over the side of the boat and into the water with loud splashes. one. two...

One by one, the men and women of their now-confiscated cargo ship are tossed over the side and into the water. Each splash is followed by cursing and bellowing, but they seem to find their way either to the bottom of the ocean or to nearby planks of wood. It's unclear whether Emma intentionally threw planks overboard to give them a chance.[break][break]

Regardless, their mission is complete and she meanders past several crates, opting to open only a few of them to peek at the contents. Ultimately, there is nothing of immediate value for the woman - this supply run was strictly for Rocket resources. Apparently it was more difficult than they'd at first planned when it came to ferrying shipments in and out of a goddamn submarine. Subtlety was difficult, apparently.[break][break]

Emma glances over the expanse of the deck and the shadow that is cast over it. Her Noivern had arrived to inspect the situation should Emma had needed assistance. The beast would also lead them toward the submarine without fail - she knew the path now like the back of her hand.[break][break]

the beast was an intimidating woman. he was momentarily distracted by her, now that there were no pirates to overcome, and he watched as her purple hair blew in the wind. then, he remembered.

“bitxilore!” he called, and the sableye ran out from its place where it had been intimidating the last remaining dry man, who didn’t dare move out of hiding.

the gem-eyed pokemon boarded the ship, and maddonis retrieved mohs’ pokeball. the sableye had earned the privilege, and he wouldn’t bother his superior with his team’s inner nonsense. he sighed, eyes cast out on the water. “i’m not a fan of the ocean.” he admitted.

he was a fan of wetsuits even less. oh, the things he'd put up with for sweet, sweet revenge.
