“We do. They are hard at work. And to their credit they have plenty of theories, but not one singular answer.”

But that was perhaps the crux of it all. Perhaps there was not one singular creature that had it out for them. Maybe it was the entire universe that preferred to see this Hoenn wiped away.

Elinor considered the proposition Julien. In theory it was a nice thought. Everyone is working together. But as a politician she knew it wouldn’t even take an hour into that before people would start to scheme ways of using it for their own gains.

“The help would certainly be appreciated.” Elinor began. “Though before I overstep my boundaries on this matter and make promises I can’t keep. I should speak with the other members of the Council.”

Surely Julien would understand this need for bureaucracy.

“Hi!” Elinor replied, waving at the woman in response.

But before much else could be said a loud thunderous crash announced the closing of a Space-Time Distortion.

Elinor and Aggron immediately tensed, ready to defend against any dangers that might emerge.

But danger didn’t arrive. Only a double. For a moment all that Elinor experienced was confusion as a palette swapped Shalin and her stead appeared. She had to do a double take as she realized just what the stead was. Keldeo.

Something wasn’t right.

Elinor hurried closer to Shalin alongside Aggron, both intent on taking a position that would allow them to shield Shalin should this person prove to have nefarious intentions.

“I apologize for interrupting, but who are you?” While Elinor did her best to seem neutral, Aggron did not even try to hide the deep threatening growl that was growing in its belly and pushing itself out of its metal jaw.

“Oh no doubt about that. It would definitely be a worthwhile investment, especially in your hands.” She could think of no better person to utilize the speed and power of a Mega Sharpedo.

And for a moment she focused on her Pokemon, making sure they weren’t up to any misdeeds before listening to Josh’s next suggested topic.

While Elinor noticed the tone and body language, she paid it little attention. One might even said she did not care to note it down.

“Yeah that is probably for the best.”

Hunting for Legendary Pokemon, whether it be Raikou or not, was surely a path that would only lead to disappointment. After all, where were they in Hoenn’s hour of need? Nowhere. Where were they when SHE needed them? Nowhere.

Elinor sat in silence, or at least as much silence as the motion of chewing on pizza and drinking the beverage would afford her as Lars regaled the tale.

Pink light? Traps? Almost sounds like a weird game show.

She kept quiet as she looked expectantly toward Lars. She was clearly not going to interrupt his little tale.

Elinor nodded, she was familiar with the Desert Ruins, though she lacked hands-on experience.

And as Lars began to tell his tale. She continued to eat, making sure to eat the crust and all while easing it all down with some of that beverage.

First there was the usual introduction, setting the stage and all that. Elinor listened as well as she could. But her focus intensified as Lars reached the point of separation.

“Right, he did work for him…” She muttered.

She had a bad feeling about this.

At least Lars seemed willing to share. But first a gift to go with the food.

The cheeky question brought the semblance of a smile to her lips. “They’ve not explicitly said I couldn’t…” And with that she reached out for one of the cans. Grabbing it gently and opening it the moment Lars relented the beverage to her. With a small sip she tasted the strong lemon flavor.

And while she was coming to terms with the drink, Lars would offer her two choices. The details or the abridged version. There was only one answer to that question.

“Give me the whole story, all the details.”

Lars's words did not spark confidence. It sounded like this entire plan of his hadn't even been suggested to the others.

Elinor released a small tired sigh as this began to sound more like a coup than an above board separation.

"Sure, I can talk with them. But for this plan of yours to have any chance of working all three of you need to be in agreement about it."

Anything less would make it a futile endeavor.

"So, what is this thing that happened between you two?" She wanted to know just in case it might be a landmine for whatever conversation she was about to have.

She held her breath. Her lungs screamed for air as she dived deeper and deeper. But she ignored them. She pressed herself, she knew she had to. It was the only way she could get the best treasure possible from the depths of this Clamperl Diving event.

Not that anything was assured. Pressed for time and air, she realized hurriedly that she had grabbed the first and best thing she could before rising to the surface of the waves once more.
