"That's my line!" Elinor smirked.

The Snowball was thrown. Callan fired it with the precision of a well trained thrower. Little did he know that after the Ranger-pie-fiasko, she had honed her dodging abilities. She would no longer be involuntarily pied, or in this case snowballed, in the face.

Her movement was quick, fluid even as she sidestepped, bent down and grabbed a handful of snow in one neat almost figure-skating like movement.

She gently pressed the snowball, making sure it wasn’t too hard before letting it fly aiming at Callan’s chest

Andrea reacted rather aggressively to her wording, far to aggressively for someone who wasn't here. By now Elinor had already caught on.

Elinor took a few steps toward the dragon-cosplayer and tried to place a firm but reassuring hand on her shoulder. Her gaze intently turned to Andrea, hoping to meet with the woman's eyes. She recognized that anger, that pain and that spite. She felt those emotions every time she even thought about Necrozma, even now she felt it bubbling beneath her.

“Andrea, it is okay.” Elinor reassured. “I will not judge you for how you feel. What happened here was terrible. It is only natural to be angry at the monster that caused this.” Elinor spoke.

“I am sorry I couldn’t be here and do more.” Her words were lathed with honesty, even if the truth was that even had she been here there was naught she could have done in the face of such a monster. Another stone on the mountain of her failings to protect Hoenn. As always she promised herself to do better next time.

It seemed that Lumia’s work was rather extensive as she listed all the things that she did for clients.

“That sounds like a lot of work.” Elinor smiled.

The Dragapult on her back jumped off and began to fly about sniffing what flowers it could and touching what things it should not.

Elinor took another sip of her tear. Trying to think of a means to continue the subject. Alas she found none. Luckily by now the Dragapult was getting a bit too touchy with a flower that seemed as fancy as it was expensive.

Fearing that Dragapults shenanigans might end the same way the Speed date between Titanic and the Iceberg did she quickly spoke up. “Draga don’t touch that.” The Dragon Ghost halted mid movement and slowly looked toward its trainer; it hadn’t realized it was being watched.

LOCATION: OLDALE TOWN

The Snom was added to the team. The now filled Pokéball returned to her pocket as Matias replied.

“Doing as well as one can. Finally found some time to go Pokémon hunting.” She took a quick breath before returning the question “How about you?”

Her Kommo-o noticed something rustling leaves nearby. It immediately went to look at it.

Elinor’s eyes followed and noticed the blob that Kommo-o was about to touch. “Don’t touch that Kaleo!” Elinor quickly said.

The Kommo-o halted claw hovering over the Grimer.

The Grimer looked frightfully back. Intimidated by the large predatory. It knew that it was merely a simply defenseless slime and could do naught but be squished by those strong powerful claws on that aptly trained Kommo-o. It expeditiously prostrated itself upon the ground submissively. Proclaiming that it would not fight a losing battle.

Elinor was quick to take the hint and throw an empty Pokéball toward the slime.

LOCATION: PETALBURG WOODS

Kahula somehow managed to not go full on rattle. And yet Elinor felt the prickle on her thighs, even a few pinches here and there, but it wasn’t too bad. “Nothing too bad.” Elinor reassured Shalin. She gave the Kommo-o a few gentle pads reassuring the good behavior that the dragon showed, like one would a Baby Pokémon like Pichu or Bonsly.

Elinor took a quick peek behind to see how her other Dragon’s were faring. She was surprised to see a Gible in the hands of Kaleo, but she simply gave it a thumbs up, as she returned her attention to Shalin up ahead. She was busy fighting an Altaria.

Elinor noticed the tell-tale signs of one of Kommo-o’s sound-based attacks. But she wouldn’t be fast enough to get ear plugs or the like in. But Kaleo was quick, it jumped in front of her and summoned the translucent green barrier PROTECT’ing them from the vibrations.

While Shalin was busy with her battle. Elinor noticed the movements of something crawling on the ground nearby. She quickly jumped off Kahula, feeling the irritation in her tighs after the the miniscule rattling.

Kahula sighed in relief, free of the burden for now.

Elinor quickly made her way over to the thing on the ground. It was a Rhyperior that laid, groaning in pain as it laid wounded and defeated. Elinor pondered what could possibly have defeated this. Was it the Altaria? It was possible, if unlikely. Perhaps something else.

Either way she quickly retrieved a Pokéball and tried to capture the already wounded Rhyperior intent on taking it to the nearest Pokémon center at some point.

LOCATION: FALLARBOR TOWN -> ROUTE 114

The punch connected but not with the power it would’ve liked. The rebuttal of AERIAL ACE caused great pain to it, bringing it to its knees, not capable of taking another one of those. The fight would come to an end for it within the next attack, this was certain.

But he would meet the end head on. Thunder kept crackling in his fist as he’d send another THUNDER PUNCH, devolving this battle into an attempted brawl hoping to come out ahead, though even Kommo-o was starting to doubt that it would do so.

Meanwhile the Aggron had more luck. It’s surge in power allowed it to get ahead of the Starmie burying it beneath rocks. But Aggron would not relent. It kept using ROCK SLIDE to bury the Starmie beneath, hopefully making it unable to continue the fight from within its Rocky temporary Tomb.

The desolate frozen hellscape known as The Silent Icelands made for an almost surreal neighbor to Oldale Town. Surely something like popping up suddenly had to cause some distress in the citizens of Oldale Town. Elinor was Intent on checking how Oldale Town was doing with their new neighbor and so she walked through Route 102 toward Oldale Town.

By her side a chipper looking Delphox walked. Waving around its wand, pleased to finally get to spend some one-on-one time with its trainer. Honestly it was getting sure she’d never get to known Elinor.

While the Delphox seemed caught in the pleasantry of walking. Elinor’s eyes peered at her surroundings, never one to forego a chance to capture a new Pokémon for the team…

The no came as expected. Elinor wasn’t too bothered by it.

She spent the moment to collect her thoughts, organize them as Fernando took their conversation as an invitation to take a seat, which she didn’t mind.

Done eating its fruitcake, the Bagon took the opportunity to jump down from its perch walk over to Elinor’s desk open a drawer and take out a toy Snorlax, not a noisy chewy toy, but something a kind to a teddy bear with which it would begin to play quietly behind Elinor.

Meanwhile Elinor leaned back into her as she said.

“As much as I would like to claim that I do. I don’t. The closest thing to an idea that I have would be to do an intensive advertisement campaign about the dangers of these Rifts… But that would certainly not halt those who wish to attempt to use them for their own gain.” Elinor admitted.

A Snom casually crossed her path. Though it wasn't a new species, she figured it would make a fine addition, and so she went to capture it.

She summoned one of her Kommo-o its shiny scales made it obvious against the forest backdrop. A quick battle followed before the snom was defeated and a pokeball was thrown.

Once that was done her attention was caught by a familiar appearance. Though she took a moment to make sure it was right, once she was certain she would raise her hand in a greeting wave and loudly proclaim "Oh hello there Matias."

Right, the rifts…

Elinor had admittedly not been too focused on those as a threat. Though she probably ought to have been. Her thoughts laid more with Sea!Hoenn and the other parties which wished to do them harm. Like dangerous Yeti’s did they lie at Hoenn’s borders waiting for the right time.

But Fernando was right. The rifts were here, and they were a problem that the citizens of Hoenn was far too willing to dive headfirst into.

“True…” She replied. “Do you have any plans in mind to prevent half of Hoenn setting them off?” She figured he wouldn’t so readily hand over his plans. But at least it’d give her a moment to think of something on her own.

She had prayed that with Meteno gone the number of meetings would go down. She had been wrong.

Nevertheless, she walked through the sliding door wearing her usual grey business suit and as eager as one could be for meetings, laptop and notebook in hand. She was prepared to be focused and listening. Perhaps she would even have words to share.

By sheer luck or a sixth sense she entered the room just in time to hear someone talking about extra personal leave days. For a moment she considered adding a joke to the mix. But figured, with everything that had happened, she ought to let Callan’s question be for serious contemplation.

And so, she found a seat completely at random. And it just so happened to be right next to Callan’s… What a coincidence.

Anyhow she placed her notebook and laptop on the table ready for note taking.

Elinor’s attention was on Minh. She didn’t notice any looks that Autumn might’ve been sending her. Whether for good or bad. Autumn might very well not have existed for that moment as Elinor allowed her hand to gently run over the Bagon’s head, even if they sat side by side.

Minh the Bagon saw Autumn. She noticed her. But she was far too young to be able to decipher what thoughts Autumn might have from her facial expressions alone.

But then Autumn spoke. Reminding Elinor that she was still there. “Yeah, who would’ve thought.” Elinor didn’t want to jab back. She left the stabbing words behind for a moment, she didn’t want Minh to see such unsightliness. No, Elinor wanted Minh to know that family mattered, for the Bagon had none save Elinor.

Elinor noticed the hurry in which the other question was granted. She figured it was some sort of deflection. She looked thoughtful for a moment. “I don’t know…” She replied, quickly letting silence befall them once again.

But this time Elinor was not about to let the silence reign. And she had just the conversation starter. “So, Autumn it seems you’ve acquired quite a bunch of Pokémon already. Are you aiming to do the Gym Circuit?” Surely they could at least find some common ground when talking about Pokémon, no?
