[break][break] it tangles all around him, squeezing around the leftover shrapnel of his broken heart.

[break][break] blizzard turns to rain as the draconic energy washes over him, the sight of something bright and flashing in the sky. his head jerks, distracted by the sight of the distant spectacle. fern delaney? 'no,' — his mind supplies, nearly immediately. Remiel Calcifet.

[break][break] HATRED bleeds around him, rippling in waves.

[break][break] but it is too late. the distraction is enough. rain pelts his face, streaking through the blood.

[break][break] seizing the moment, the dragonrider pulls back her arm and nocks her manmade arrow into the sky, as swift and invisible as a flash of lightening. crack! it pierces his armor where Ashley Shepard and Isaac Merlo once stabbed him. Ice crackles around the arrowhead as his hand grips the feathered shaft, blood splitting around his fingers.

[break][break] in the roaring waters, his milotic screams with his trainer's outrage. with his trainer's hate. the ice is like home to a beast like the water serpant, who hisses with disdain as human-hands grap onto it's gold tail. a ICE TERA CRYSTAL glimmers like a ice queen's crown overhead before the creature belches out a violent BLIZZARD into all in it's vicinity, immune to the ice that floods through jayden cross's own veins.

[break][break] electricity cracks into the storming rain as two brethren clash in a familial struggle of power. pain surges through the roaring moon as those fangs sink into his wing's, only to lash out with a BREAKING SWIPE in an attempt to shatter those very teeth.

[break][break] YOU DO NOT BELONG HERE, those bleeding yellow eyes of her brother seem to say. but not out of malice or hate. but out of a desperation, of a need to protect.

[break][break] — before jayden can plunge into the waters alongside ana fell, however, hatred burns. his fingers clutch at his side before an ice blast suddenly catapults him upwards, thrown skyward like a rocket, just alongside his snarling roaring moon.

[break][break] but rather than heading towards his dragon, he instead heads towards her.

[break][break] icy eyes are locked onto pools of gold. hands are outstretched like vicious claws, aiming to grab the dragonrider off her dragon, his teeth bared into a vicious snarl to sink his teeth - his hands, his hatred - into whatever he can touch.

Their recruits were an extension of Rocket, and therefore an extension of himself. Anything short of excellence would not be tolerated.

[break][break] 'You sound like your father,' a biting voice in the back of his mind said, but Jayden banished it away alongside all the other dark thoughts that had been cropping up in his mind as of late.

[break][break] "Of course," he said, shrugging a shoulder. "We'll keep our options open until then. If we can find the source, we can consider it again then. But for now, we should focus on what's right in front of us."

[break][break] And with that, he pulled out another envelope. This one, however, was one that he'd pulled from the scientist records, one that he had asked his sister Naomi Sato for.

[attr="class","postbox"] it is a good tactic, jayden thinks. pride threatens to split apart his concentration — or perhaps, it would, if jayden had been built of lesser mettle.

[break][break] but he was a man that was burned into the fire that is kanto rocket.

[break][break] compartmentalizing such events is second nature to him.

[break][break] ice splits apart the air, victim to the steadily increasing flame that is the DRAGON BREATH.

[break][break] but such things do not make the admin falter. if anything, it makes him even more stubborn to see how much the dragon will stand in the face of such abject horror. the blades thin quicker and faster, pushing against the building inferno of the dragon's attacks, until the only thing left is the HATRED that cuts through the attack hardier than any blade.

[break][break] and the HATRED that leaks from the pokemon's expression is about as powerful, as addicting, as any standard blow. it is almost as if a leech seed or mega drain attack had been released; the other pokemon's hatred fuels jayden's own, strengthening his power, as the tiny blades of ice then form a much larger weapon.

[break][break] flames lick the air as jayden then leaps to the side and then forward, gripping the base of a frost blade, swinging with the intention of cutting the goodra's head off — or even Fenelle Miller, if dey do not move out of the way.

[break][break] Whatever dreams Jayden held, whatever shards in his heart that were left over after Rocket's continuous torture, didn't matter in the big scheme of things. This was a fundamental truth that he had thought to teach himself. That he had thought he knew. But if there was anything that he had learned from Dionysus' meddling, it was that there was no future worth living when the ones you cared about no longer existed.

If the interest that had sparked from the Voltorb knife could be described as lively, then the curiosity that shimmered in his violet-blue gaze from the Duskull dagger could be described as very well enthusiastic.

[break][break] Well, as much as one could be in a state such as his, and as much as Jayden in particular had ever been known to show.

[break][break] But it was something all the same, as the admin leaned closer to observe the ghostly hue emanating from the metal's edge, unable to help the way his heart swelled in his heart, like a child witnessing a toy for the first time.

[break][break] Her words rooted him back to the present, and at least, he seemed a bit admonished when he leaned back, expression smoothing into cool nonchalance once more.

[break][break] it would never get old for him, the feeling of his sword slicing so easily through — whether it be forged metal, or human flesh, it did not matter. the feeling of his sword swinging through the air was only second to the feeling of seeing ghosts for the first time, meeting creatures that understood the same melancholy ache in his chest that he'd experienced from the dawn of time.

[break][break] 'name of arceus! jayden! good grief!'

[break][break] names were of importance, so the admin did take note of the slight change in tone — but it was Aurelie Lefevre, a person he thought fondly of, so he made no reference. the expression on his face also did not change as she inundated her surprise at how easily he sliced through metals, but he did gaze curiously at her as she picked up the broken sheets.

[break][break] "... did you expect something different?"

[break][break] he could not say whether it was his sword that had done the damage or years of expertise built up over time. he wondered if Hitoshi Inoue's own blade would've had the same effect.

[break][break] she set up a new series of metals for them to test, and he raised his sword-arm, prepared to make the same slice, when her words stopped him.

[break][break] "of course," he said. "after."

[break][break] he actually had never given his weapons — at least not these weapons — to anyone else. he wondered if he would be able to do so — or if these swords were an extension of one's self, and would disappear into the aether the moment that he willed them out of existence. before he could test such a theory, however, her follow-up questions made him still.

[break][break] the admin glanced at the ruinous beast that stood between them, the shimmering edge of the feline's fangs just as sharp as that of the sword that he held in his grip.

[break][break] "i have always liked swords," he said plainly. "as you know."

[break][break] after all, it was with such relations that they had made acquaintances in the first place. but then, it had been weaponry that she was more used to — blades forged of the same metal that these sheets were. occasionally, it was the ghost pokemon that he called his armory.

[break][break] the longer that he held the sword in his grip, it seemed, the more his skin seemed to crack. infinitesimal cuts in the surface that not even he recognized, as they filled in with colder crystal.

[break][break] "but this sword - " he gestured to the one that was in his hand, glistening with the brightness of tera shards, as he placed it in the air between them, for her to grab. "and all ones i can summon with it are tied to my avatarship."

[break][break] he paused before handing it off to her, hand tightening around the grip of his blade.

[break][break] the blood that flowed through his veins was no-doubt filled with hateful ichor. if she touched his blade, would she feel the same?

[break][break] it was a lifetime of agony and sadness and suffering, are coiled up in the heart that was their home. she understood him in ways that others wouldn't, in ways that even those who loved him dearly never would. because back then, when everyone had been blessed with false hope and happiness, she and him had burned in their desire to return — to go home — and now they were here, defending it.

[break][break] "you do not belong here," he says, voice cutting through the stormy ice sharper than the swords that fly form his palms. he sees both of their forms, disguised in the ice, and then they vanish. he whips around, eyes blazing as cold as winter-frost, just as flames cascade in the air, threatening to burn his body into ash, just as one PENELOPE LIVY almost had.

[break][break] vodnik's own throat swells with power, columns of ruined flame shooting out in disarray in an attempt to knock the dragonrider off her dragon.

[break][break] freya morningstar's other beasts' attacks go missing in the space where the two had left; they are swallowed up by the ice of the storm, just as the water droplets that pelt his skin turn into crystals of protective ice, just as he shoves himself against vodnik's side, rolling them away from the edge of burning flame.

[break][break] through roaring ocean waves, a beam of light reveals the form of yet another dragon. a milotic cast into the roaring waves that lets out an alluring melody, made to distract, and aimed towards the twisted dragons cast into the bale of such hateful ice.

[break][break] his voice rings, once again, full of glacial-hate as he roars over the water:

[break][break] "YOU DO NOT BELONG HERE."

[break][break] "LEAVE."

[break][break] ice blades shoot out with ferocity towards freya morningstar, as he attempts to slice her into shards.

Darkness is fascinating.

[break][break] Jayden knows it well, having raised by the demon who has all but commanded it. Staring at the mysterious Megalopolan city that towers before them, the Admin cannot help but be reminded of Zev Harcourt too — there is something ghastly, yet beautiful about such complete darkness.

[break][break] Ruin lays before them in rubble and ash — there is something beautiful about that too, he thinks.

[break][break] Something beautiful about such absolute destruction.

[break][break] "The pen?"

[break][break] Ah.

[break][break] "No. There were no doors, inside or outside. I didn't know we were throttling through space, until the very end of it."

[break][break] There had been scarce time to pay attention to such things, anyway, what with the way the Loyal Three had commanded nearly all of their attention and time. It was torture after torture after torture —

[break][break] It was home to monsters like him and Zev Harcourt.

[break][break] 'I was real worried aboutcha, y'know.'

[break][break] The Admin's expression softens, a hand resting atop the dog's head to ruffle it slightly.

[break][break] "You handled it well," he said, with a slight nod, affection brimming at the edges of his icy gaze. "You and Mint both."

[break][break] He and mint frost had done well, being one of the few Rockets left behind from capture.

[break][break] His hand pulls away and drifts back to the cityscape. In the distance, something bright and flickering in the distance. The Megalopolan Tower, he thinks, and watches the way those mindless zombies are dragged towards it's blinding light.

[break][break] The same way that he and CHIEN PAO had been drawn together, in that twisted dreamscape. Even beyond the chains of men and monster. Something beyond that of the world they lived.

[break][break] "Hitoshi," he says, after a heartbeat of silence. "What was your childhood like?"

[break][break] He had never thought to ask before. But lately, he'd been feeling lonesome — perhaps his troubles with fern delaney were the reason for them — and was craving connection.
