The kitchen looked as he remembered, only layered in dust. He ran a finger along the counter on his way to the fridge. Opening it, Killian frowned. What a tragic sight. All the fruits and vegetables molded, milk so curled he didn't dare check the carton. [break][break]

His nose twisted, "Come on, Lex." not having him around hurt her more than Killian realized. [break][break]

Maybe he shouldn't leave after breakfast.[break][break]

He shut the fridge and stepped back to lean against the kitchen counter. Lex would find him there when she got out of the shower. His arms crossed and eyelids shut.

Killian charged ahead, nearing Cillian Quinn's left when Chu-e Choi's crystallized nail struck the center of his chest. While Killian felt no pain, Deoxys screeched. Bloodcurdling, it sounded like high-pitched static or a train whistle inside his mind. He clutched a hand to his forehead.[break][break]

"Fuck, why are you - "[break][break]

Killian felt it as Deoxys retreated. The overwhelming presence of another attempting to invade them. Bond with them. Already tired, it took everything Deoxys had to fight back.[break][break]

What the fuck was inside Chu-e?[break][break]

He clutched his teeth and lowered his hand. Diamond blues kept glued to Chu-e Choi, only looking away briefly to acknowledge Gwyar Wledig's scream of pain. If not for Deoxys, that be him right now.[break][break]

Grabbing two Poke Balls, he released another BEHEEYEM and a SHIINOTIC. They'd have to keep him safe now.[break][break]

"Morel, use STRENGTH SAP." the SHIINOTIC'S mushroom top glowed bright, its fingers extending like vines to latch on and drain Chu-e of power. [break][break]

Now for the big play. "BEHEEYEM, link my mind to Chu-e's." risky and desperate, but Killian needed to know if it was possible to save Chu-e. That somewhere down the line, should he lose control of the thing inside him, it wasn't over.[break][break]

Psionic power surged forth, and like an invisible chain, BEHEEYEM attempted to latch it onto Killian and Chu-e's minds.[break][break]

"Chu-e, snap out of it. Don't let that thing control you."[break][break]

Elsewhere, Killian's EEVEE obeyed Martín del Mar order and fired another LIGHT OF RUIN at the TREE OF LIFE.[break][break]

Killian felt out of place standing before his dresser, pulling out clothes he hadn't seen in months. A stranger in his own home. Frowning, he threw on boxers and grabbed a black t-shirt. Holding it under his nose, he took a deep breath. It smelled of stale air and regret. [break][break]

"How fitting..." he muttered.[break][break]

From his peripheral, he spotted Lex standing at the bathroom door. She wasn't going to drop the conversation. Killian knew that. She's too stubborn, too worried about what comes next to let it go. [break][break]

"No." he replied after a moment of thought. [break][break]

"I've still got breakfast to cook." the smile he gives her as he turns is brighter than before. The effort put into it is hopefully enough to convince her that everything is okay.

"I love you too." there's a but at the end of the sentence that Killian chooses not to say. An uneasy smile fills its place instead.[break][break]

"I should get dressed." not that he minded standing around in the nude, but it did make having a serious conversation hard.[break][break]

He walked past her to the bedroom, leaving the tension of an unfinished talk behind.
