Killian straightened and watched Fernando's hands as they moved. His eyes are quick to shift to Tapu Fini. Hovering ominously above the table, the shadow it cast over him preludes his future, one that began today whether Killian liked it or not.[break][break]

He took another deep breath while waiting for an answer. Letting the lucidity of the mist grease the gears of his mind.

Minior spots the Litten and is quick to act. Launching a barrage of stars with Swift. The distance between the pair is enough to dodge Litten's Double Kick with ease. Floating above the kitten, it Double-Edges hard atop its head. A Poke Ball slams into the side of Litten's staggering body shortly after.

"Yeah, it was." Killian agrees.

"I'm Ian, by the way."

The words lingered on unspoken on the tip of his tongue as she slid her hand to his waist. Later. He tells himself, smiling as she sighs. "Don't fret. We've got plenty of time." more if they were careful.

Tugged down the street, Kilian eventually falls into place beside as they arrive at the storefront. "Rebecca's Second-hand Duds" he mutters, "Weird name." but they can't afford to be picky.

He pulls open the door to the sound of a chime and steps inside. Whoever Rebecca is, they don't appear to be around at the moment. In fact, the place is oddly empty. Maybe she's in the back? Killian shrugged, "Let's look around." the digits of his finger break free of Lex's own and wandered through the racks of clothes. Making sure to keep an ear open for the owner in case they show up.

"She's been...." the word he's looking for, like always, is different. Like so much about his life, Alexandra Briarwood has changed since Hoenn, since Lulu Flint and Cillian Quinn. Since Rocket. "Good." and he hopes to keep it that way.

"It's definitely dull without her." not just the hot spring but life itself. Without her nothing felt worth it. Alexandra Briarwood had a piece of his heart that couldn't be returned. Killian didn't want it back either. It was her's, forever and always.

That's not worth sharing with Martín del Mar, however. They were friends, as Mars put it, but he'd learned his lesson about sharing the depths of himself with someone else. Especially in Rocket.

Killian laughed, "Can you blame me? You used to have quite the reputation." he reached for his drink and took a sip. "But I'm happy to spend time with you. I could use more time with people outside of Lex."

He could use more friends.

He notes the Virizion and dots are connected.

The thick syrup of oppression drenched them in Hoenn. So much so that it's easy to forget they were happy once upon a time. Seeing that bright grin and peppy step warmed his heart.

"Hm?" Killian glanced down at his attire. Right. They'd been dressed for something fancy. Not a playful romp on the shady side of town. He tugged her to a stop before they got any closer. Killian's eager to indulge in nostalgia, but they'd attracted too much attention dressed like this.

"Let's change. Do you remember any stores around here?"

There have been moments like this before when Alexandra Briarwood is around. Her presence offered a temporary reprieve from the lingering darkness of his nightmares. But it's just that - interim, brief like the life of Spoink that stopped bouncing. The demon always returned. Taunting, terrorizing, screaming in the back of his mind, a hammer nailing paranoid thoughts.[break][break]

Killian taught himself to ignore it. Stifle the noise behind work, hatred, or a quest for something beyond the stars. Distractions that barely push back the dark. This...whatever this...clarity is trumped them all. [break][break]

So clear, crisp, and sharp in a way he'd never been before. There'd be fear, but a quick search inside finds nothing. [break][break]

With it, Killian finds his eyes pulled to the Tapu by Fernando's words. He stared longing into the deity's eyes. The rainbow tide of the ocean swirled within. Tapu Fini itself was a statue refusing to budge, but true to Fernando's word. Killian swore he felt the creature peering into the depths of his heart. [break][break]

"What truth does it see?" Diamonds peeled themselves away to meet Fern's gaze. "Or are you not privy to that information?" [break][break]
