How had it come to this?
Not even two hours ago the two had been enjoying a late dinner at a local Slateport Diner laughing about the various nuances of their day to days.
Miles eyes the area locals all with an assortment of pokemon each adorned with various accessories, some more stylish than others. He's not unfamiliar with the tone of the area, the nature of his job oft had the man visit enclaves, not unlike these. The sites are common, Rebels without a place to go and so they linger wherever they can. They drive themselves into danger in an attempt to find what they lost, or to see a path forward. Indeed, Miles understands the vibe all too well even if he doesn't mention it aloud.
Still, he'd stand by Stormy through thick and thin they'd gotten into this fighting for what they believed in and he'd be the last to turn his back because it was a little dangerous. His resolve was more than that, and apparently so was hers.
He moves through the crowd to meet the primary racer under her tent, ready to relay the rules and nature of the course. Upon entering he finds the star of the show just as stunning as ever. "Hey champ." a light tease, and smile before a hand finds itself around her waist. "So, it's a three on three race. Each team has two riders on one pokemon. The person in front is in charge of guiding, while the secondary rider is in charge of running interference using a second pokemon. If we win this the 'DK' (Drive King) returns the 'tax' money to the community. If he wins we lose our riding partners, pay the fine, and when it comes to the races we're none the wiser. We're unable to ride flying or swimming pokemon but they can be used for interference. It's a three-mile square course through the docks dodging shipping containers, and attacks from other racers... " He pauses,
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Admittedly the normally cautious man is a little too interested, but subjecting the woman to all this seemed like a lot and it was more than understandable to back out. Whatever came from withdrawing he'd handle it.
