the silence that follows is almost comical but it is the twiddling thumbs along with the dredging mucus that does it. he can't help the fit of laugh that escapes him, as brief as they may be. his laughs only grow louder and more vicious under the threat of making his last words snappy.[break][break]

but he knows, despite the comedy of it all, not to underestimate this crimson stranger before him. this may very well prove to be his last fight if he isn't careful.[break][break]

perhaps there is nothing to catch. though the thought does occur to him, it is never shared as his mind ventures elsewhere, this fight suddenly divided as the rocket boss, real or otherwise, isn't their only concern.[break][break]

deep down, doubt stirs and will continue to fester in the coming weeks, perhaps months, that whatever awaits them at sootopolis will not be a decisive end for any side. it's easy to cast those doubts aside and chalk them up to his inactivity, but something's telling him not to.[break][break]

the concern annalise henderson shows is appreciated and would have been welcomed under different circumstances, but in this one, his mind is focused on only one thing.[break][break]

his head shakes only to still when declan walsh materializes once again, unharmed and seemingly alive. he raises an eyebrow, unfamiliar with the man's powers, but familiar enough with avatars to know that this may be a byproduct of darkrai.[break][break]

even though they all know how this will end; not the war, perhaps, but certainly this skirmish between the three of them. it all hinges on whether this declan walsh is real, and in the process of his scrutiny to try and find the answer, he finds something else.[break][break]

despite what he echoes, every win may be important but their importance greatly varies. he'd rather forsake a city or two now, where the losses could be estimated and managed only to strike back and win later, than to take a win now only to risk losing again later.[break][break]
