Once the room was called to order (well, as best as order could be called anyway) the presentation followed.

And then—for the first time in a long while—his eyebrows went up slightly. More on the choice of font, that was ridiculously tacky, but who was he to argue? He was just a follower, however he followed with reason.

His eyebrows remained raised as the cliff notes was presented, and then questions were being fielded.

His mind lingered on ‘some’, not ‘all’. What was up with that? Were ‘prayers’ needed before volunteering for this?

Either way, everyone else was asking all the questions, so he would just go in line once they started calling for volunteers.

He would go wherever he was needed.

Never mind if it meant that he would have to fall into the deepest circles of Hell to do it.

Never one to question what the ruckus was about, he stood off somewhere in a quiet corner, eyes examining the room at large. Who knew there were a lot of people around?

The two that mattered the most—the ones he knew from Kanto—were at the forefront of the assembly.

Catching their gaze (at least he hoped Gavin would notice he was there), he continued to observe quietly, hands crossed over his chest.

It wasn’t just him who’d gotten lost.

He was pretty certain that there were no wild Fairy-types running around the place—

Unless he’d fallen into another parallel universe that existed across the multiverses then he was pretty much lost as well. Thankfully, he had one of his Pokémon out for a light source.

Just as he thought he’d gotten even more lost, he heard someone’s voice shatter the quiet.

Rather than revealing his location, he decided to approach instead; the Fire-type appearing first before his own silhouette cut through the gloom.

“You might want to keep it down… who knows if we’re lost in another dimension,” he warned quietly.

With some adapting, scaling the obstacle is easily done.

It’s like they’re going on a hunt, and eventually they do reach their destination.

“Thank you,” he remarked as he pulled himself up and onto the thankfully solid ground.

“Climbing is never easy, especially unprepared.”

So of course he was bored.

He wanted to look for someone to spar with, and had gotten his hands on a smartphone and was poking through one of those message boards he would frequent, looking for someone, hell, anyone he could practice with!

Maybe it was a good thing he kept his identity under wraps as much as possible—at least, in this region. Even if he had to go by another name to do so.

It would be bad if a known insurgent Rocket from Kanto was walking around in daylight. Kind of like what happened to a certain pair of idiots a few months ago.

Anyway—

There was a notice that had caught his eye. While it didn’t fulfill what he was looking for, instead there was the promise of money. Extra money.

He then opened another window and began to type a message and sent a reply:

‘I would be interested to help someone learn the intricacies of swordplay. Combining it with dance would be a sight to see.’

And sent—

Now all he had to do was to wait.

“The latter. I was so bored out of my eyeballs, but you know what happens when someone complains about their assignments.”

He was certain Gavin was aware of those consequences.

“Supposedly. However, I’m on my own again. It’s hard looking for someone to practice with these days,” he added as he adjusted his footing—thank goodness he didn’t wear something too out of place.

“Do we have much further to go?”

He nodded at the mention of his mentor’s name.

“One of several known game corners. Those little hole in the wall places with a limited number of pinball machines. Definitely not like the big one in the middle of Celadon,” he explained.

As for him, right now?

“I thought I was able to find someone with who I can practice my specialization with, but they’re gone. Don’t know why, maybe they were sent elsewhere over there,” he added—emphasizing that ‘over there’ meant Kanto as a whole.

Picking out the location quickly, he had to squint in the direction for a few moments, covering his eyes with his free hand a bit (due to the sun’s glare temporarily blinding him) before nodding in agreement to the plan.

To most, it would look like he was just shielding his eyes from the sun’s glare (which he really was) but at the same time he blinked a few times to recover his vision from being almost burned out of his eyeballs. Thanks, big orb in the sky.

He matches the other’s pace quickly and quietly, making sure to look as unassuming as possible in the process. Once they’re at a quieter location, he looked around just in case.

“Got a transfer. It got boring over there. He pulled the papers to get me over. Beats having to sit mindlessly all day at the Game Corner,” he added with a bit of a snort.

Maybe it was a good thing his identity wasn’t compromised—lurking mostly around the submarine was enough to give him cabin fever though.

It also beat being cooped up in the city of white rock any day.

“It’s been a while indeed, Gavin,” he greeted quietly.

Making sure not to stand out in such a ‘fortified’ position, he tilted his head a few times in agreement.

“Yes, it’s right here.”

A hand dug into the pocket of his clothes, and a marked Pokéball is flashed for a few moments.

“Where to, then?”

Maybe he moved too stealthily for his own good—

He was able to tail the other figure who’d gone into the supposedly ‘haunted’ location to investigate, and he swore softly.

“Didn’t you get my text to wait for me outside?” he began in the same quiet tone.

“Don’t just go rushing into unknown places without a partner or at the very least, a companion,” he added with a sigh.

And for the record, was his companion tottering around without any depth perception?
